Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Brownlee Cottage has been a favorite getaway spot for us several times. Ted and Deb are wonderful hosts offering every amenity imaginable: fully equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds, relaxing living room and, our favorite spot, the boathouse deck and fire pit. Although our week was chilly and rainy (May weather is very unpredictable) we enjoyed the cottage, went for walks, played Scrabble, read and cooked wonderful meals. We're sure to return, perhaps in the fall.

Owner's Response: John & Cindy have been the best guest to have. They have made Brownlee Cottage a special place to come back to each year. We enjoy our conversations with them and knowing that they love the cottage. Looking forward to having you in the fall.

A Month at Brownlee Cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our vacation at Brownlee Cottage was special. From the moment we entered the Cottage the mood was set: it was perfect. The thoughtful décor is "Up North". The lake is steps away and the windows are wide and the views are stellar. The furnishings are plentiful and comfortable. Where you need a cozy chair... there it is. There is a wonderful little sun room facing the lake where we sat each morning with our coffee. There is a quiet road which runs along the lake in front of the house to take your morning walk. The little village of Lincoln is two minutes away and has everything you need: grocery, gas, restaurant, P.O., Laundromat. Being there for four weeks we did a fair amount of cooking. This kitchen is equipped with everything you will need and even better easy to find. Every place you might like to go is easy to access...Travers City, Petoskey, Mac City and/or the Island... easy to go, enjoy, return all in a day. We relaxed and stayed "home" a lot but we were on the go too. This is a very high recommend on our behalf for an Up North stay.

Clean, comfortable and beautiful view of the lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice relaxing stay at Brownlee cottage. Ted and Debbie are wonderful hosts and very attentive if something is needed. We had fun rowing about on the lake, watching the sun set and gazing at the stars at night on the boat house deck. Amazingly there weren't many bugs at night! The bug spray was never used and we sat on the deck for hours every night. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax this is a great choice.

Return trip a joy

  • 5 of 5

We've enjoyed Brownlee Cottage several times. Ted and Debbie are such gracious hosts and always available to ensure your vacation is pleasurable. The cottage is immaculate, well equipped, comfy beds and beautiful setting. Great store - Kris Mart - minutes away has everything imaginable for your needs. The fishing was great, glorious sunsets, evening fires, morning coffee on the boathouse deck, wine under the starry night sky...who could ask for more? Come prepared to be amazed!

Just Perfect!!!

  • 5 of 5

I really can't say enough good things about this place. The location was great with an excellent view of Brownlee Lake. The house was clean, cozy, spacious and had everything we needed to prepare meals. Mom and I spent a lot of time on the deck above the boat house. We enjoyed the view and sitting by a warm fire. The owners are so welcoming!! They had a sign for mom and I and even my dogs name was on there too!!! They also left a bottle of wine and a basket of fruit for us which we also enjoyed by the fire. Please note...there is a grocery store right down the street and it has EVERYTHING!! No need to bring groceries all the way from home...just stop there when you get in town. You can't go wrong with this place!!! It's perfect!!
