The newly remodeled vacation condo (Spring 2013) ‘Hale Luana' (pronounced ha-lay loo-ah-nah) is located in Punalu'u on Oahu's North Shore. In Hawaiian, it means 'house of leisure, to enjoy pleasant surroundings, to enjoy oneself, relax, and be content'. This is not Waikiki!
This bright, open and airy fully furnished and equipped beachfront condo will provide you with comfort and convenience during your Hawaiian Holiday.
The fully appointed kitchen has new stainless steel appliances, beautiful cherry wood cabinets and granite counter tops. It is fully equipped...and we mean FULLY!
All you need is your food! The unit also has a new washer/dryer for your convenience.
The newly remodeled full bathroom has a shower/tub combination accented with a Hawaiian touch to give you the feeling of the tropics.
The sleeping area has a queen size bed with new linens and privacy screen and is separate from the kitchen and living area.
Additionally, there is a new queen size sofa/sleeper in the living area with a memory foam mattress (very comfortable), as well as HD Cable TV with Music Channels and DVD/CD player. There are some DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, board games, and binoculars for whale watching.
Snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach toys, boogie boards and BBQ/picnic supplies are also provided.
And if you must stay connected to the outside world, free WiFi is provided.
Enjoy spectacular sunrises and 180 degree ocean views from the lanai, which also overlooks the park-like grounds and sparkling swimming pool. The lanai is the perfect place to start your day with a fresh cup of Kona Coffee or Herbal Tea enjoying the sunrise and gentle ocean breezes. You might even catch a glimpse of the occasional sea turtle, Hawaiian Monk Seal, or whale greeting the day.
Clear evenings bring the glistening moon light over the water.
Hale Luana is located in the legendary 'Pat's at Punalu'u', reminiscent of the earlier days of Hawaii Five-0. This is the “other side of the island…the “real Hawai’i”. The garden-like grounds and expansive grassy areas are spotted with shady palm trees and fragrant plumeria trees. Picnic tables and lounge chairs are provided for your relaxation.
The pool area has chairs and umbrellas. The property also has a small, but modern beachfront fitness room. There is a BBQ area for your use, as well. The complex features 24/7 security, 2 elevators, and free designated parking.
Pat's at Punalu'u Condominium is a totally Smoke Free Complex, but does have designated smoking areas away from the main building.

Hale Luana is owned and managed by Richard and Gayle Roddy of Honolulu, Hawaii. Starting off in Hawaii 40 years ago, we then lived all over, from the snowy Rocky Mountains in Colorado, to the Big Sky country of Montana, to the Sonora Desert of Southwest Arizona. Hawaii is just one of those places that never leaves your heart so we came back, and now we enjoy four generations of our family all in one place. Here in Hawaii we have the 'Spirit of Aloha', meaning we care, give and share with joy. We enjoy Hale Luana for our own occasional personal use, but really want to share it with others so you, too, may have an unforgettable Hawaii experience!

It's not Waikiki... it's the OTHER side of the island!
We kind of know every corner of the island of Oahu. When most people visit, all they see of Hawaii are the tourist destinations and crowded Waikiki. Just like rural Maui, Kauai or the Big Island, Oahu has so many wonderful, hidden gems, destinations and activities in the area of the North Shore. It's no surprise that Oahu is by far, our favorite island and the beach at Hale Luana is our favorite beach!
Hale Luana is an 'out of the way getaway'. One step onto the lanai looking at that ocean and we were hooked! Everyone is friendly, and there are visitors from all over the world. Our smallest grand-kids love the beach because the waves are gentle and the sand is smooth. Our teenage grand-kids love the snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and exploring. Everyone loves fishing with grandpa and BBQ-ing in the evening. And it's perfect for alone time or couple's time. Remember, it's not Waikiki... this is the real island paradise!

The property had everything we needed and was located centrally to all things on the island. Definitely explore the North shore when you are in Oahu. We had a great view of the beach from the lanai!
If you're hunting for a vacation condo on the North Shore, stop looking. The location was wonderful, but what really wowed me was how everything you could possibly think you might need is likely there at the condo. Lots of toys, beach chairs, extras others left behind, and a washer/dryer to boot! Plenty of condiments for whatever you might want to cook up, but don't pass up an opportunity to try Aloha Shrimp, a blue shrimp truck across street about an eighth of a mile south. (The Spicy Lemon Garlic Shrimp is something that I'm going to be craving a long time after I leave the Islands.) The lanai is private with a great view of the ocean, and I heeded Richard's advice and slept on the pull out bed from the couch in the front room in order to utilize the wonderful sound of the ocean at night. The hosts are very gracious people who seemed genuinely invested in your having a great time during your visit. Great value, way, way better than pricey resorts. Mahalo Richard, Gayle, and Leah! Highly recommend!
Being far away from crouded busy street this place is nice to stay if you want peace and quiet place to stay. Love how its by the water. just couple steps and your there. Feels good to walk especialy in the morning. Weather feels good. Close by some food truck. Over all happy to be there.
Can't beat the view from the Lanai. Condo is stocked with anything you could possibly think you might need and Richard and Gayle are fantastic hosts. Can't wait until next time!

My family and I just got back from a wonderful long weekend at the condo. It was just what we hoped for...quiet, peaceful, easy access to a beautiful beach, mellow water for our 5 and 2 year old boys, amazing sunrise in the morning, grilling on the lawn...I could go on and on! Hale Luana vacation condo is located in Punalu’u of Oahu's North Shore, a quiet, family-friendly area of the island about an hour away from the noise and tourist bustle of Waikiki. About a 45 minute drive from Honolulu International Airport, this vacation rental is perfect for anyone looking for the “real” Hawaii experience!
Close by, there are quaint shops and fresh food stands (including the local Kahuku shrimp trucks… you MUST try this shrimp), and just a 20 min. drive away is the famous North Shore surf town of Hale’iwa, which boasts some of the best dining, shopping, art galleries and activities on the island.
Oahu’s North Shore has something for everyone... from families with small - or big - children, adventurers and thrill-seekers, those simply in need of some R&R, or couples celebrating a romantic event like a honeymoon or anniversary. The North Shore is world-renowned for its surfing and hosts the Triple Crown, the world’s top surfing competition in November and December at Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline, just 15 min. away. There is fantastic snorkeling, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, shark cage diving, wind and kite surfing, and all kinds of other activities to enjoy. An easy and worthwhile hike to Waiamea Falls (there is an admission fee per person) is a 15 min. drive away. At Laniakea Beach, a you can usually catch a view of sea turtles. Just a 5 min. drive away from the unit is the Polynesian Cultural Center for a day of exhibits, demonstrations, and fun learning about the cultures of Polynesia, as well as an award-winning luau and shows. And for the golf enthusiasts, the world famous Palmer and Fazio golf courses at Turtle Bay, just 20 minutes away.
Although a rental car is strongly recommended for this location, there are several little grocery and sundries shops within a 5 min. walk and the property is located on the bus line. The condo is equipped with a beautiful 65 page visitors’ directory of things to do and places to go to help you plan your ultimate Hawaiian experience. Of course, steps from the unit is miles of white sand beach for snorkeling, swimming, fishing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and exploring.
An hour away, in the city of Honolulu, Waikiki has beaches and streets lined with high-end resorts, restaurants, shopping and dining. Don't forget to stop and get your picture with the Duke Kahanamoku statue. His arms are draped with flower leis and there is a webcam focused on him so you can wave to your friends in real time. Pearl Harbor is a popular sightseeing destination, and the Arizona Memorial is a worthwhile visit, 45 min. away.
If you choose to stay 'close to home', Punalu'u, Hale'iwa and the entire North Shore have more than enough to satisfy and entertain. The closest (large chain) grocery store is a 5 min. drive away. The closest dine-in restaurant (price $$) is the historic Crouching Lion, with seashell decor and amazing ocean views. The closest shave ice... right across the street!
