Our names are Albert & Marsal. We moved to Hawaii in 2005 from Northern California. We are in property management and real estate. We have tried to explore the island as much as possible, and share our island experiences with our guests.
Albert & Marsal purchased this estate in 2004
After coming to the Big Island several times, and looking at many areas, we decided we loved the climate of our area and the breathtaking views. Almost always sunny and not nearly the amount of humidity as other parts of the island. Plus, the nightly breezes made it very comfortable.
We like the location of our place because it is out of the hustle and bustle of city life and close to many great beaches and attractions. It is ideal if you would like to explore the island. You can choose to go to Hilo or Kona for the day. The ocean view is awesome. You can see to Kona and sometimes Maui. The seclusion and tranquility is wonderful. The sunsets are unforgetable and the stars are epic.
The Pineapple Palace is a lovely home situated with 180 degree ocean views, nice breezes and everything that you might need or want. The bed is comfortable, linens high quality and plentiful, newer appliances and extremely accommodating hosts. Albert was available and helpful. I highly recommend this property if your vacation plans include the Big Island.
We just returned from an awesome week at the Pineapple Palace and couldn't have been happier!
The house was clean and fully equipped with anything you could want during your stay. We were a bit worried about the lack of air conditioning, but the house remained cool during our stay to the point of being chilly at night (there's plenty of blankets and bedding so no worries there). Ants are a fact of life in Hawaii (my parents live on Oahu) but good kitchen hygiene and keeping up on trash disposal keeps them to a minimum.
It is a long drive into Kona but it's worth it--you almost feel like you're in your own world and all you can hear is birds and the plants and trees rustling in the wind. The isolation was definitely one of the best parts of the trip.
I would definitely recommend a stay here, especially if you're just looking to get away from it all and hang out by the pool and relax!
We had rented for a long weekend, group of us picked this house and it was perfect! Great owners, very clean and had everything we needed. The views were out of this world! It is a little far from anything and I think that's the only downfall but once there we appreciated the distance. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need, we all would recommend it to anything visiting the Big Island
The drive to get to the house is crazy but definitely worth it. The house and the view were amazing. Rooms were large and fully equipped. Did not get the pleasure of working with the owners but their replacement was great. He responded quickly to all our calls and was able to resolve all issues including the bugs. Not a fan of the roaches and ants. The house was too hot for us even though we followed all the suggestions/tips/tricks to keep it cool so for that I gave a 4. We are from Missouri so we experience heat and humidity all summer long however we have AC and fans. You must understand that although it is normal weather for Hawaii and the locals (you all) are use to it your guest may not be so the house could use either high powered ceiling fans or additional fans in every bedroom. Even with the bugs, the heat and the crazy, curvy drive we would definitely stay there again. Can't say enough about the view and house. Thank you for sharing your home.
My family and I really enjoyed The Pineapple Palace house.
It had everything that you required while away from home.
We had teenage kids so there was a lot of room for everyone to enjoy peace and quite when required.
The only down side was it can be very hot at night times as the fans in the house doesn't do much justice in terms of going faster.
Maybe just suggesting an air-conditioning will help when it gets hot sometimes especially during summer months. Also I notice that the pillows in the main bedroom needs updating.
Otherwise, we really enjoyed the peace and quite and also enjoyed seeing the green lizards that come to pay a visit.

First of all, as some have already mentioned, communications with the owners are very good. We didn't need to contact them during our stay but any communications prior to that was great. Response time was very good and always helpful.
My family loved the home. We stayed upstairs and my in-laws stayed in the suite downstairs. The location is private and quiet. The home is beautiful and well equipped with everything you could possible need for your vacation. I was pleasantly surprise to see that both the downstairs suite and ours were equipped with rice cookers. We also loved the pool and the lanai didn't get to spend that much time there because we were usually out sightseeing. Loved the wrap around deck as well. It gave you plenty of different views from the house. The highlight of our stay for me was when I saw two large ripe mangoes on the little mango tree on the right side of the house! They were so sweet! The home can be hot at times, but there are also cool breezes when you opened the screen windows. The only thing I would've like to see was sharper knives; I bruised a few tomatoes and mangoes trying to slice them. And it was a struggle to slice meat for cooking. Tried sharping them with the sharpener to no avail.
We decided to go check out the nearby beach that was about 3 miles from the house down the hill. The beach itself was nice with black sand and very private. There was only 3 other people on the beach and our family when we were there. However, I do not recommend that families with small children to go there because: 1) the hike from the parking lot to the beach a good 15-20 min through a woody and uneven rock trail, 2) the black sand is coarse and VERY hot, and 3) the current can be pretty strong.
Overall, we would definitely stay here again! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Coming south from Kona you will drive a 33 mile majestic drive through the coffee belt which is a great area to explore, tour, & stop to taste the 100% Kona Coffee. In Honaunau there is a National Park, Pu'uhonua O Honaunau which is a must see. Next to the Park is a great snorkel spot we call 'two step' where the turtles frequent. You can also visit Kealakekua Bay, home of Captain Cook's monument. A little more south is a gem called Hookena Beach. Head south of the home and visit South Point, or the Green Sand Beach. While down south, stop in Naalehu at the Punalu'u Bakery for a tasty treat. While at the home, take a epic hike out to Honomalino Bay for a peaceful day at the beach, with plenty of snorkeling, dolphins, and plenty of palms for shade.
