About Albert & Marsal

Our names are Albert & Marsal. We moved to Hawaii in 2005 from Northern California. We are in property management and real estate. We have tried to explore the island as much as possible, and share our island experiences with our guests.

Albert & Marsal purchased this estate in 2004

Why Albert & Marsal chose Kona Coast

After coming to the Big Island several times, and looking at many areas, we decided we loved the climate of our area and the breathtaking views. Almost always sunny and not nearly the amount of humidity as other parts of the island. Plus, the nightly breezes made it very comfortable.

What makes this estate unique

We like the location of our place because it is out of the hustle and bustle of city life and close to many great beaches and attractions. It is ideal if you would like to explore the island. You can choose to go to Hilo or Kona for the day. The ocean view is awesome. You can see to Kona and sometimes Maui. The seclusion and tranquility is wonderful. The sunsets are unforgetable and the stars are epic.

Well equipped and great ocean view!

  • 4 of 5

First of all, as some have already mentioned, communications with the owners are very good. We didn't need to contact them during our stay but any communications prior to that was great. Response time was very good and always helpful.

My family loved the home. We stayed upstairs and my in-laws stayed in the suite downstairs. The location is private and quiet. The home is beautiful and well equipped with everything you could possible need for your vacation. I was pleasantly surprise to see that both the downstairs suite and ours were equipped with rice cookers. We also loved the pool and the lanai didn't get to spend that much time there because we were usually out sightseeing. Loved the wrap around deck as well. It gave you plenty of different views from the house. The highlight of our stay for me was when I saw two large ripe mangoes on the little mango tree on the right side of the house! They were so sweet! The home can be hot at times, but there are also cool breezes when you opened the screen windows. The only thing I would've like to see was sharper knives; I bruised a few tomatoes and mangoes trying to slice them. And it was a struggle to slice meat for cooking. Tried sharping them with the sharpener to no avail.

We decided to go check out the nearby beach that was about 3 miles from the house down the hill. The beach itself was nice with black sand and very private. There was only 3 other people on the beach and our family when we were there. However, I do not recommend that families with small children to go there because: 1) the hike from the parking lot to the beach a good 15-20 min through a woody and uneven rock trail, 2) the black sand is coarse and VERY hot, and 3) the current can be pretty strong.

Overall, we would definitely stay here again! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Our family loved staying in this home for our reunion. The views from the balcony were stunning and the house was equipped with everything we could possibly need. It was nice coming home after a day of site seeing to a home that was comfortable and spacious. Both Albert & Marsal also made themselves available for any questions that we could have. Thank you so much for the great experience!

Amazing place for family trips or larger groups!

  • 4 of 5

My husband, 7 month old and I recently spent 4 nights, 5 days here! We were accompanied by 9 other adults and 3 kids. It was the perfect spot to spend quality time with the whole family comfortably accommodated in both the pineapple palace (we rented the suite as well) and the Pineapple Express ( which we rented separately ). The house and suite were very clean and well stocked with all the essentials as well as some bonus items ( coolers, snorkel gear, beach towels, kid toys, etc) The kitchen was beautiful and has items I would have never thought of such as a food processor, cake/pie pans, roaster, rice cooker etc. The only items we searched for to no avail was a grater and a large pot for boiling noodles. They could have been there but we didn't find them. We brought all of our own food/ pantry items/spices but we were surprised by some of the pantry items that were already there. The pool was a highlight for the kids and the sunset from the deck was outstanding. There is a BBQ on the deck so we could multitask ( sunset watch and dinner prep) We didn't watch much tv but the house is very much equipped if you are a tv watcher. Staying here was certainly a highlight for all of us on our Hawaiian vacation and I would stay here again in the future! The owners were also very accommodating and quick to respond to questions/ etc. I would have given this property 5 stars if there had been air conditioning. It was very warm when we first arrived and there are two portable fans at the house but in the heat, they just didn't keep it cool enough.. By the end of our stay we had ventilation better figured out (opening all windows when it cools down at night) but it was still pretty warm in the back bedrooms. Otherwise it was amazing!

Owner's Response: Aloha and thank you for choosing to stay at our home. We are so glad that you thought our home was the "perfect spot" for you and your family. We did check to see if the cheese grater and large pot were there and they were. There are so many cabinets and sometimes items get moved around. The house can be warm when you first arrive, or if it has been closed up all day. If you open the cupola windows in the loft it makes a huge difference. The pool really helps cool you off as well. Coming from Alaska I'm sure Hawaii felt really warm. In the 10+ years we lived there, we only ran across one home with AC. The hotels have AC and some condos but it is rare to find a home with a central AC unit. Thank you for giving us the highest compliment in saying "I would stay here in the future".

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

The property was beautiful and very family friendly. A fully stocked kitchen for cooking in. My family really enjoyed the house, and the jacuzzi bath. Great for privacy, and nice beach view. A bit of a drive for most stores, and some activities, but definitely worth the drive! The owners were very good at responding to our questions and help with suggestions. Would definitely stay there again !

Fantastic Property

  • 5 of 5

First of all the communication with the owners and making arrangements / schedule was excellent, which made planning of our time on the island much easier. The property was exactually what we were looking for. Very clean, comfortable, and well stocked with all the little things. We spent most of our time exploring the island, and this is a great spot to begin the day to see Hilo, Valcano National Park, South Point, black sand beach, and all others. When we were at the home we enjoyed the pool, sitting on the deck and just relaxing with all the quite that this home surrounds. Highly recommend if you are looking for slow pace and relaxing. Great experience for my family.

Coming south from Kona you will drive a 33 mile majestic drive through the coffee belt which is a great area to explore, tour, & stop to taste the 100% Kona Coffee. In Honaunau there is a National Park, Pu'uhonua O Honaunau which is a must see. Next to the Park is a great snorkel spot we call 'two step' where the turtles frequent. You can also visit Kealakekua Bay, home of Captain Cook's monument. A little more south is a gem called Hookena Beach. Head south of the home and visit South Point, or the Green Sand Beach. While down south, stop in Naalehu at the Punalu'u Bakery for a tasty treat. While at the home, take a epic hike out to Honomalino Bay for a peaceful day at the beach, with plenty of snorkeling, dolphins, and plenty of palms for shade.
