Couldn't have found a more perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for our annual gathering of friends across the country. We typically convene in a new city and I opted for something different this year. We made the best choice with this place. Simply put this is an amazingly beautiful home - the pictures can't begin to do it justice! Besides the fact the home itself is stunning, the architectural layout is fantastic. We had more than enough space for everyone to sleep, lounge, relax, and the space outside to play corn hole, Frisbee, and a fire pit to gather around to enjoy the stars. Michael was always quick to respond with any questions I had before our stay. All the beds were comfortable and clean. Why stay at a 5-star hotel when you can stay at a 5-star castle! Thank you so much, Michael, for opening up your home and allowing to stay here!

A Fantastic Place for a Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

This a perfect place for a family reunion. There is plenty of space for everyone to do their own thing. The kids played in the game room while the adults talked or played cards and games. The home is furnished with expensive furniture and the decor is excellent.

The owner was responsive to our needs if something needed attention. There are deer in the backyard every morning.

I recommend using the local person (Rockport ?) on the road to the house for jet skis. Their price is better than the marina and they are very cordial.

We will probably return for another reunion at this home.

Perfect Bachelor Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This house was really extraordinary for our group of 14 dudes on a bachelor party.

Parking: Plenty of parking space. We parked 6 vehicles comfortably out front and the side.

House: There was ample space to spread out throughout the property either around the large dining room table to play some dice and throw some money around and over on the living room couches or outside on the deck. Neighbors put on a pretty solid fireworks about 9:30 or so...word to the wise, there's a 10 p.m. noise ordinance...don't light off fireworks after that. Would have liked to have seen some outdoor lights off the back porch. We brought some bags/cornhole sets to play, but couldn't after dark....nbd though. Every morning there were 10 or so deer in the back yard too so you really feel nature...and you also feel nature in that you have to walk out to the road to get a cell if your goal is to unplug from work or your wife...come here cuz you definitely win at that game.

Beds: "Sleeps 20" is interesting. I'd say it sleeps more like 15 including couches...We were spread out in 5 bedrooms and couches. They have air mattresses and added 5 more on the first day. You could probably sleep 25 if your crew is ok on an air mattress in the game room.

Game Room: Speaking of the game room, it's excellent. Pop a shot, foosball video game (which has like 100 different arcade games) air hockey (that was the only sub/par item in the house). I think somebody got close to a 150 record. Bring it!

Meals: We cooked a couple of BIG meals in the kitchen and on the grill. There's plenty of stuff to cook with, but a few of the pans are pretty sticky. Bring some Pam or olive oil or something. My suggestion is to go to the grocery store before you get to Cadiz. The one in town is a little lacking on good meet and produce. Gas grill had plenty of propane...also find a flat spot in the yard because you'll lose some dogs/brats if you don't lol. May need to replace the thermometer on it...that wasn't accurate.

Golf: Golfed nearby at Boots Randolph (20 min) in really pretty excellent condition. Good layout decent length to it and not too expensive. Their best advice to our groom to be was "RUN AWAY"!

Boat: Rented a pontoon boat from the marina that was literally just across the neck of the lake you could probably hit with a solid 3 wood, but was 45 min car ride to the marina. Note: 14 large dudes do not work on a 13 person 1800 lb max rated pontoon boat...get 2.

The home is magnificent a huge home with great location the owner was very helpful and our stay was a huge success with our family and friends the game room was amazing and plenty to do. We stayed inside for most of our stay. Cooking and playing games and talking.

And looking out the back windows at all the deer that passed by. Very peaceful

Beautiful property, some attention to detail needed

  • 2 of 5

We had a good family reunion, however the property is somewhat misrepresented in the description. The number of people that it says that it will accommodate, includes several air mattresses (which did not inflate) and many of our guests could not sleep on air mattresses, even if they were good ones. A few people had to get a motel instead. Many of the games in the game room did not work or were missing parts. (This was a main selling point for my family!) The kitchen did not have enough dishes or silverware for all of us to eat at once. There was not enough towels for our group. Some ceiling fans were missing blades and kind of scary. The house has an ant problem and there were ant traps all around the baseboards and on counter tops. The railing in the loft area upstairs is probably not up to code, because a grandchild in our group could squeeze through the wide spaces between the beams and possibly fall through to the dining room below. We had to hang a blanket there to help prevent any accidents.

I had to convince the neighbor that we were good people when we had to look for a lost child on his property because he had called the police.

After our trip, I had a conversation with the owner and he apologized for our grievances, and comped me back $100. He was very nice, and I hate leaving bad reviews. I am hopeful that he will bring the property up to standards, because it is an awesome house and we very much enjoy that area.
