The main benefits of “Hodge Lodge” are LOCATION and VIEW.
LOCATION: Our house is about 1 mile from stores and restaurants. It borders Tonto National Forest at the end of Pine View Dr. on the eastern slope of Strawberry Mountain. The area is secluded and peaceful with lots of wildlife.
VIEW: The view is really nice. You see the whole valley and have a clear view of the Mogollon Rim. When you are on the upper deck you are nearly at tree top level and nothing will block your view. The night sky and stars are breathtaking.
The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms that will sleep 8 in beds and for additional sleep options we have a futon in the fireplace room and sleeping pads in the loft.
The fourth bedroom is the apartment which has a private access from the back of the house with the following amenities. King size bed, bathroom with shower, microwave, refrigerator, private patio, WiFi, 42 inch flat screen with satellite TV, and two recliner chairs
This spacious chalet has (2500 sq. ft.) of living space and almost 2000 sq. ft. of outside decking nestled in the forest. It is a very relaxing and peaceful place. Everything you would need to prepare meals or just relax is furnished.
This house is located at the end of a well maintained gravel road. It is one of the highest locations in Pine situated on the east slope of Strawberry Mountain. The view is spectacular. The upper level deck raps around the house for 360 degree view of the area. Our living room is within feet of the Tonto national forest. You would be totally surrounded by tall Ponderosa pines. There is lots of wildlife small and large to view. (Elk, Deer, Coyotes and a variety of small game)
We are within walking distance to antique shops, restaurants, bars, library, community center and playground. Pine/Strawberry host several seasonal arts and crafts festivals, rodeos and other special events. There are many hiking, mountain biking and riding trails. Go horseback riding, golfing, fishing or swimming in the creeks/rivers. Pine has much to offer such as antique shops, restaurants, specialty stores, arts and craft festivals and other special events.
You would be 90 minutes north of Phoenix
157 miles hours from the Grand Canyon
5 miles for the north side of the Mogollon Rim
13 miles from Payson which has golf, airport, Restaurants, Movies, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and lots of locally owned shops.
88 miles to Snow Bowl ski resort, Flagstaff, AZ.
7 miles to The Tonto Natural Bridge is a must see
Just steps away are many trails in the national forest
40 miles to great fishing in the many rim lakes
20 miles to swimming in Fossil Creek
5 miles to horseback riding
Hi Ken this is Nadya just to let you know that Jose and his family are very happy about their vacation on your chalet. They want to thank you and let you know that everything was very comfortable and beautiful, they really enjoyed those days. Hope you are doing great!
This was our third stay at Hodge Lodge and once again we had a wonderful time.
The house is well maintained and spacious and comfortable for our six people.
We will no doubt want to make our fourth stay next year.

What a perfect place for our girls' weekend (3 generations). The Hodge Lodge was beautiful, clean, and had plenty of room for everyone to find their own spot to play, read, relax, nap, etc. Our favorite room was the "window room" as we called it. This beautiful room had lots of windows with views of pine trees and mountains in every direction. The decks were amazing and the views unbeatable. We saw LOTS of elk and loved local places like The Pine Deli, Sidewinders, and THAT Place. We loved our little Pine getaway from the valley. I'm sure we will be back. Thank you Ken and Karen for sharing your home.
First rate cabin in Pine AZ. The location is amazing. Up in the hill overlooking the entire forest area. The cabin has a deck overlooking the entire forest. Excellent atmosphere early in the morning. The cabin itself is very cozy. It has all the amnesties to make a comfortable stay.
We had a great Easter vacation, there was plenty of room for you family, my mom, sister and niece.
The owners were kind and available as answered each of my phone calls.
Great place to escape, very close the the antique shops, Tonto National forest and Payson. I was also able to catch a couple MTB trails up the road from the property. My wife didn't want to come home! The house was equipped with literally everything we needed! Thanks For a lovely stay
We stayed here last weekend for an extended family getaway, and we had wonderful time. Ken was extremely accommodating, letting us check in early and take our time checking out. The kids had a blast playing in the loft and outside on the deck and yard all weekend. The weather was amazing, we saw some fun wildlife on our last day there, and everything we needed was just minutes away. Only thing I would put out there for future renters to consider is that all the bedrooms are on the bottom level and if anyone is walking around up on the main level (where the kitchen and living rooms are) then the footsteps are really loud and it's hard to sleep. But other than that, we loved everything. So much room for the kids to play and explore, inside and out. Thanks Ken!
We rented the Hodge Lodge for 3 days and we absolutely love this place. It was our Daughters 25th Birthday on the 12th so we planned a 3-day getaway from the hustle and bustle.
We woke up on the 12th and it had been snowing all night. The views are amazing with or without snow; but what a treat for our daughter.
We would highly recommend the Hodge Lodge to everyone. There is plenty of room for everyone to kick back and relax. Laying on the couch in the dark with the fire on listening to music was awesome.
The lodge is well stocked with all the amenities of home. The beds are very comfortable and warm. Barbecuing in the snow was a great experience. We saw elk and deer just roaming around outside.
The day we were leaving we had about 4” + snow fall. We used the snow shovels out of the garage to clear the driveway so we could get out. 4-wheel drive or snow chains are highly recommended.
Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful home.
Pine is about 13 miles north of Payson. It is about 1000 ft higher and lots of Pines and other trees. There are several restaurants and a nice little grocery store.
