The Mackinaw House is an opportunity to find peace, tranquility, joy and adventure. With a view of one of the world’s most beautiful bridges, and Mackinaw Island which is majestically set between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas our home is a perfect vacation destination. Nestled in Northern Michigan, the Mackinaw House is a safe and charming location for your next visit to the shores of the Straits of Mackinac.
The Mackinaw House is a two story structure with an interior decorated with family heirlooms and paneling made from native species of wood. The first floor is inviting and calming with one bed room, a mud room including a washer and dryer, a full kitchen and dining room, a small den, and a full bathroom. The Mackinaw House is a getaway, a true oasis away from the rat race, with stunning sunrises and a palette of colors at sunset.
The second floor has a rustic feel with log walls in the family room, two bedrooms and a second bathroom. The walls in the bedrooms are a combination of light cheery colors and knotty pine wood. The family room has a television, couch, and an additional dining room table and hutch. There is a very small kitchenette in the back of the family room. The Mackinaw House was built with our own hands with the intention of creating a lake house with that “welcome home” feel. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

The beautiful Mackinaw to Midland snowmobile/bike trail is easily accessed from the driveway of the cottage. Interested in a little more adventure? Try a dog-sled ride through the wilderness from a local musher! Also a great base-camp for hunters.
In the spring, birdwatchers gather from all over the country to catch a glimpse of the incredible hawk migration.
Lake Michigan,Historic Fort Michilimackinac and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, the ferry docks to Mackinac Island - are all minutes away.
In the fall, take the color tour through the “tunnel of trees” or enjoy spectacular scenery in the Upper Peninsula, an easy drive across the mighty Mackinac Bridge. There’s nothing quite like the sound of bugling elks during mating season at Pigeon River or the mysterious call of the loon on a quiet lake. It’s all here! Hunt, fish, hike, canoe, bike – you can do it all or you can just relax by the cozy fireplace with a good book.

What a wonderful location and a beautiful house! 10 minute drive from the Mackinaw pier. Right on Lake Huron with an awesome view of the Mackinaw bridge. The sunroom was a wonderful room to spend time with friends and family, day or night! We enjoyed every minute there! Would go back in a heartbeat!
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin on Lake Huron. The view is spectacular and the little beach area with fire pit was one of our favorite places to be. It was so nice to have all the local brochures at the cabin, that was really helpful. We did meet Bailey, the neighborhood dog, but since we were all adults and no children to play with, that time was short. Liked hearing the waves at night in the upstairs bedroom. The bunk beds were a challenge for an adult but we made it work. Twin beds would have worked better for our situation. Would definitely come back and will refer this cabin to my friends and family.
Beautiful views of Mackinaw Island and the bridge. Just a short drive from downtown. Loved the tranquility of the cottage location, so homey and plenty of room to gather family and friends.
This house is very charming, with a somewhat unusual, but functional floor plan. We loved the view of Lake Huron, Mackinaw Bridge, and Mackinac Island. We explored the lake with the available canoe, very enjoyable. There were biting flies by the shoreline, but if it was breezy, they disappeared. The enclosed porch area was delightful, however not all of the windows had screens, and one of the screens was bent with a gap. We would have preferred to have a TV downstairs. The laundry room was a huge bonus for us, kitchen was well supplied, and beds were comfortable. Wish the bedrooms had ceiling fans since there is no AC, although there were a couple portable fans provided, and we also brought our own fan.
Our family had a great vacation in this home. It is very large and easily accommodated our group of 9. The upstairs pullout couch was broken, however we had an air mattress which easily solved that problem. The lake views are gorgeous, the fire pit was wonderful to use each night. The house was in a wooded area and felt very private. It's right on the lake, so if you have kayaks it would be a great place to use them. Everything is convenient to Mackinaw City, and 5-8 min drive into town. We would definitely stay here again!
Some windows didn't have screens, including bathroom downstairs and the windows were filthy in and out. The dehumidifier needed to be ran constantly, very musty in backroom and bedroom. Rug under kitchen table was covered in stains. Dead bugs and lots of dust/dirt on window ledges and floors and cobwebs. Bonfire area was disgusting! I cleaned it out in order to have a fire. Sewer smell after one night of our stay and it continued thru entire stay. Both manager and the owner were notified of the poor conditions shortly upon our arrival. It was unfortunate that I/ we felt that the owner was giving us excuses for the poor conditions.
