Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)

My historic home was built 100 years ago and is fully and beautifully renovated. It's located just 1/2 mile from the heart of downtown Asheville.

The house is uniquely situated: neighboring houses are quite a good distance away and there are lots of trees and greenery outside, so the setting is very natural, but still just a short walk to downtown.

THE SPACE

You'll be renting the first floor of the home, a 900 square foot apartment. I live upstairs, and have a separate entrance.

MAIN LIVING AREA:

-800 square feet with an open, urban loft feel

-sleek, uncluttered, minimalist decor

-hardwood floors

-queen size Tempur Pedic bed with very nice linens

-comfy couch

-lots of sunlight, trees and greenery all around

- expanded cable TV

KITCHENETTE:

-microwave, toaster oven, small fridge

-coffee maker, electric kettle

-organic coffee and cream provided

-sink, counter top, small dining table

-all utensils, ice bucket which I fill upon request

BATHROOM:

-full bath, clean, updated

-plenty of nice towels provided

-good water pressure

- all water from sinks and shower is on a house filtration system: great for drinking, easy on you skin when bathing

-blow dryer provided

OTHER AMENITIES:

-large storage closet for your belongings

-wireless internet

-extremely quiet, efficient ductless central AC/heat

-iron and ironing pad

OUTSIDE:

-private, sunny covered porch

-an easy 1/2 mile walk to the heart of downtown

-2 minute walk to the city's nicest tailgate farmers' market (Saturday mornings, April-November)

-** PLEASE NOTE: THE STAIRS FROM THE STREET UP TO THE APARTMENT ENTRANCE ARE STEEP AND LONG- IF YOU HAVE PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS OR JUST DON'T WISH TO CLIMB STAIRS, PLEASE CONSIDER ANOTHER PROPERTY** (SEE PHOTO)

PARKING:

-Street parking is available and free (no meters). There's usually room right in front of the house; sometimes you may have to park JUST A TINY BIT up the street. In my 3+ years of hosting, I've never had a guest who couldn't find a parking place either directly in front of or extremely close to the house. That being said, if you prefer access to a dedicated, off street parking place, please consider another property.

MY PRESENCE:

-I live upstairs. There is a door (at the top of the spiral stairs pictured in this listing) which remains closed and locked, separating your space from mine.

-I have my own entrance, separate from yours, so apart from an initial greeting you won't have any interaction with me unless you need something.

-I'm very conscientious about keeping things quiet in the house. The floor is sturdy, and I don't wear shoes inside so you won't be bothered by creaky floors or loud footsteps overhead. You will be aware of, but not disturbed by, my presence in the house.

MY NEIGHBORHOOD:

-My neighborhood, typically called the East End, sits directly adjacent to downtown. You can see downtown. You can walk there. Unless you are wearing stilettos. Or unless you just don't want to walk a half mile.

-My neighborhood is eclectic, lively and friendly. I know all of my neighbors. Residents are a mix of newcomers to the area and people whose families have lived in the same house for many generations.

- My neighborhood is cool and funky.

-My neighborhood is not fancy or swanky. PLEASE, don't rent from me if you wish to be surrounded by cookie cutter houses with manicured lawns. I love my neighborhood. I want to rent to people who will enjoy it as I do.

IN SUMMARY: This apartment is the perfect spot for those who want to experience downtown Asheville within walking distance yet have serene, comfortable, private accommodations to come home to.

This apartment is a special place and my guests are consistently thrilled with it.

About Owner/Manager

I was born and raised in North Carolina and have lived in Asheville for nearly 20 years. After graduating from The Colorado College, I moved here to take a job in outdoor education, and I was so happy here that I stayed. I love the natural beauty of the mountains combined with the eclectic downtown scene. My career for the past 15 years has been in music, as a singer songwriter. I know a lot about what's going on musically in Asheville, so fee free to ask for suggestions. I have toured and performed all over the country, and I know what it's like to be a guest in someone's home. My style as a host is to be completely available if you need anything, but otherwise let you have total privacy.

I have really been enjoying managing this property and renting to short term guests, in fact it has become a second job for me. The apartment does not sit unattended; I am very conscientious about keeping it extremely clean and in good repair.

I truly care about your experience here. The satisfaction of my guests makes me happy too!!

I bought this special, historic home in the heart of Asheville because I had been living out in the country for a long time and I really wanted to be more connected to community, friends, and the vibrant downtown scene. I have a very clear memory of looking through the window and seeing the downstairs space when I was house hunting. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to buy it! I am very happy here.

What makes this apartment unique

This home was newly renovated when I purchased it- all I had to do was move in! It feels really welcoming and serene. This house is my sanctuary. It has a special combination of close proximity to downtown (views included) and a quiet, natural setting in the trees. Extra amenities include the extremely comfortable Tempur Pedic queen size bed, luxury linens, whole-house water filter (drinking and bathing water are filtered), expanded cable TV, quiet, efficient ductless central air, and much more

PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!!!!

Having rented many places while on vacation, I can honestly say that this was the best! The apartment was beautiful, very clean, and in a great location. The host was very friendly and the communication prior to our arrival was the best. She recommended a few places to eat that where perfect. If you are looking to a have a perfect getaway in Asheville, then this is the place you want to stay! My wife and I look forward to staying again.

Asheville Fun.

We had a wonderful stay in this clean, beautiful apartment. We wanted to be within walking distance of downtown Asheville and we were. Had a great time discovering the wonderful eateries and breweries of the area. Next stay will be during the fall or spring as we hit it in July and a bit warm outside. The apartment was cool and perfectly appointed. Staircase outside may be a bit challenging for some, however, the owner is available to help with whatever is needed. Would recommend this location for a nice stay in Asheville.

Great base for a long weekend

My husband and I recently stayed here during our 4-night stay in Asheville. It was the perfect base for our long-weekend vacation. The apartment looked just as the pictures indicated. It was an easy walk into town from the apartment. We never had a problem finding parking in front of the apartment for our rental car. Valorie was a great host. We'd definitely stay here again!
