Not Worth the Money (Disgrace)

  • 1 of 5

We just returned from a weeks’ vacation. Let me start with the outside grounds are very nice as was the basement. Other than that, the house was a disappointment and surely not worth the money. It was evident that there has been no work on the house since the previous reviews from 2014. The bedrooms are misleading since you must go through the master bedroom and bathroom to get to one of the rooms. There are only 5 rooms not 6. The A/C upstairs did not work for 2 days. Lights and outlets were out throughout the entire house. We had no WIFI for the last 2 days of our trip. Shower doors did not close the entire way. We expected this houses upkeep to be kept up for what the owner asked for. The outside patio was a disgrace. Not painted and you surely could not walk on it without shoes unless you wanted splinters. No advance notices as too when the pool company and landscapers come so you just get people walking into the back yard while you are trying to have some fun. The owner responded to me for the AC issue yet disappeared after that. He knew that we were unhappy yet instead of doing the right thing he never responded to any of my messages. Spend your money on other homes, not this one.

This is a RENTAL property where the owner does not maintain the house.

(1) There was no A/C for 3 days on the 3rd floor bedrooms. It was 90 degrees outside and 80 degrees inside. The A/C guy said the owner had not replaced the vents which caused build up and ice all over the unit in the attic. He had to come back 3 different times (3 pm, 8 pm and 9:30 am) over 2 days.

(2) The "added" bedrooms are above the garage. You have to go through the master bedroom to get to them. One bedroom is complete and 2 others are in the process of being done (see picture). All share the master bathroom. If the bathroom is being used, the only way out is down a back stairway through the garage. The shower door was broken and didn't close spilling water all over the floor(see picture). The bedrooms being added have venting for AC but there is no air flow so it was basically a steady 77 degrees the whole time.

- Second master bedroom has only one AC vent in the room. It did not get cool enough to sleep at night. The bath in this room is small - which is fine except the shower curtain was very disgusting (see picture). This bathroom also had a crack along the wall which one could see through from the hallway.

- The TV's (4) in the bedrooms did not work.

- Light bulbs out all over the house

- Pool service and lawn people showed up during week but we were never told.

- The freezer in the kitchen had a big hold in it and we only found out when all our food started melting (see picture).

- There are only 4 burners (electric) on the kitchen stove and only 3 worked. It was obviously old and needed replacement as did the fridge/freezer.

- There was food left in the fridge when we arrived that we were told was left from the last people. We had to clean it out. Same for the pantry - lots of food that was all expired from 2014 thru 2016. I brought my own stuff but had to throw out all the expired food to make room for my stuff.

- The deck was a sore sight (see pictures). The wood was splintering, cracking and needed much repair and paint. You had to have shoes to walk on it.

- The cushions for the chairs were moldy and needed replacement (see picture). They had a few new cushions sitting in the garage which we took and used but not enough to cover all the chairs.

- The internet worked for 2 days and then stopped working.

- No toilet paper was provided except what was left on the roll from the last renter.

BOTTOM LINE: Rent Elsewhere. This house is not maintained

Owner's Response: The majority of items listed in this review are either untrue or vastly exaggerated. The frustration with the tenant was regarding the A/C. When it was determined that the upstairs A/C was not functioning properly, we had an HVAC repair main on site within a couple hours and the system repaired the same day. After being fixed, the HVAC tech informed the guest that they need to leave the windows shut to get the upstairs zone down to temperature, which is standard procedure. The HVAC tech returned the next day to check on the system, and noted they ignored his advice by leaving all windows open over night. The tenants furiously complained when the upstairs was "only" at 72 degrees that morning and proceeded to demand a 42% rebate of the entire rental fee. Unfortunately, it is hard to reason with the unreasonable. They have left this inaccurate and unfair review in retaliation for our unwillingness to meet their outrageous financial demands. With all due respect, the traveler was belligerent from initial contact and is the first traveler in over 3 years who has had anything negative to say about what is otherwise a beautiful house that is professionally maintained.

Excellent summer vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week vacation with my family in this home! The house is the perfect setting for a large group. We had adults and young children and everyone had a great time, there was so much to do in the backyard, plenty of places to just hang out. Everyone had there own space! It was very relaxing and peaceful as well as close drive to the beaches, stores etc. Owner was very easy to deal with and very accommodating.

Gamer's Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We were sold on this house because of the outdoor amenities and it exceeded our expectations. The property is absolutely amazing. We loved swimming in the heated pool, playing horseshoes, and the basketball court is ridiculous. There's tons of outdoor space and it's all beautifully manicured. We played Bocce ball, Smash ball, and even had room to toss a Frisbee! (There's a ping pong table in the garage). The screened in porch is perfect for nighttime card and board games. There's an outdoor grill. There's a fire pit. There's plenty of parking...

Don't worry, the house is pretty awesome too. :) There's so many bedrooms (and other rooms) you'll get lost. Kitchen, Family Room, and Dining Room are top notch. 5 stars - we'll be back!

Could not be any better!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful house. It is elegant, beautifully furnished, yet very comfortable. We had a special family reunion there with parents and lots of teenage cousins and everyone LOVED it. The kitchen/eating area/family room combination is very large and great for large gatherings. There are plenty of inviting places for smaller groups to hang out as well. The teenagers loved the screened-in porch for playing games and music. The pool is set in a large, beautifully landscaped back yard. We could sit by the pool and watch the kids swim and play basketball. In the evening, we all went out to the fire pit to make s'mores. It is the perfect house for family to have fun together.

The owner is great to deal with. On one rainy day the kids wanted to watch a movie and we couldn't find one cable to hook up the DVD player. The owner had someone there in minutes with a replacement.

The house is a short drive to Craigville beach and you can walk to the Daily Paper for breakfast and Four Seas for ice cream. Hyannis is a short drive. It is easy to go in for dinner and get to the ferry for a day trip to Nantucket. We all want to come back next summer!

Beautiful house, great location

  • 5 of 5

This was my family's first foray to the Cape and we lucked into this new rental property. The owner was easy to communicate with and the house was represented very accurately in the pictures. If anything, there were more rooms and beds than advertised. We had a big group -- my husband and myself, and our two daughters with their families -- 13 in all. The house was able to accommodate us all very comfortably. The mattresses were all high quality, the pool was great, the screened-in porch wonderful, and the large grill a blessing. There was also enough seating between the kitchen and dining room tables for all of us.

The location is walking distance to 4 Seas Ice Cream and the supermarket is within a mile or two. We went to Craigsville Beach the first day (which is also very close) but found it crowded. We ended up going to Dowses Beach which was much more private and inviting.

Couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the week!
