Wonderful home for family or friends trip!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our annual family vacation, 6 adults and 3 children. This house is great! The adults stayed in the en-suite rooms, while the granddaughters stayed in the twin bed room and our grandson had his own room, which worked great with his naps. When the children were not in the pool, they were on the basketball court having fun. The fire pit was awesome. We had beautiful weather during our week stay, chilly in the evening so we enjoyed sitting around the fire and yes, we made s'mores 3 evenings. Such fun! I love to garden and cook, so I was quite impressed with the beautiful landscaping. Gorgeous large hydrangeas seemed to be in abundance, and the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and gadgets. I even found a lemon zester. We had no major issues. I emailed the homeowner about a burned out light bulb in one of the bathrooms and a slow draining shower. Within hours light bulbs were dropped off by the cleaning company and I was notified when a plumber would be coming to fix the drain. I appreciated that the homeowner was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. The location of the house is great, it is in a nice quiet residential area. 5 minutes to a grocery store and 7 minutes to Hyannis. Day trips were made to many of the quaint small towns on the Cape. I would highly recommend this beautiful home to anyone who wants to enjoy time with their family or friends. It has a lot to offer with activities and different sitting areas ( like the screened in porch , where you can sit and listen to the wind whistle through the screen and the trees). Having traveled from hot Texas, this was a welcome relief.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had 13 family members and three generations. The Grandchildren loved the pool. My sons loved all the things to do around the place. basketball courts. plus other out side games. We had a fire pit fire most nights toasting marshmallows. pool table down stairs that everyone played in the evenings. Two refrigerators. one down by the pool table. we kept bottle water, soda, and gator aid down there. gas barbecue grill that was used at least three times that week. They have two nice size pots to cook lobsters. we sent one day on Martha's Vineyard., another day on Nantucket. We went whale watching and took the two youngest grandchildren fishing a boat for children. The youngest caught a shark the same size she is.

The whole family had a great time.

Great Place for family vacation

  • 4 of 5

We had 5 adults and 4 children, two of whom were 8, one at 10 and one at 13. For two nights my Brother and his wife stayed with us. The house worked very well for us. We were a little taken back by the prior review, but did not have the problems mentioned. The landscaping was very nice and everyone enjoyed the pool and the basketball court. It has a very nice fire pit with chairs around it, but somehow we did not use it, although the wives did sit around it to talk and read. The bedrooms over the garage were a little unusual since you had to go through the master bathroom and bedroom to reach two ot them. Since we were all family it worked for us. We did not use the formal dining room, which was very nice. We tended to eat outside or go out to dinner. We were extremely lucky that we had exceptionally nice weather except for the last day, when the Cape had a very severe rain and wind storm. We made use of the lower floor family and game room that evening. We played many games of pool that was enjoyed by all. We had several emails from the owner checking whether everything was all right. They were appreciated. He sends you by email when you arrived a list of instructions on how things work such as WIFI. We would recommend this rental, if you are looking for a family rental MidCape.

This is a RENTAL property where the owner does not maintain the house.

(1) There was no A/C for 3 days on the 3rd floor bedrooms. It was 90 degrees outside and 80 degrees inside. The A/C guy said the owner had not replaced the vents which caused build up and ice all over the unit in the attic. He had to come back 3 different times (3 pm, 8 pm and 9:30 am) over 2 days.

(2) The "added" bedrooms are above the garage. You have to go through the master bedroom to get to them. One bedroom is complete and 2 others are in the process of being done (see picture). All share the master bathroom. If the bathroom is being used, the only way out is down a back stairway through the garage. The shower door was broken and didn't close spilling water all over the floor(see picture). The bedrooms being added have venting for AC but there is no air flow so it was basically a steady 77 degrees the whole time.

- Second master bedroom has only one AC vent in the room. It did not get cool enough to sleep at night. The bath in this room is small - which is fine except the shower curtain was very disgusting (see picture). This bathroom also had a crack along the wall which one could see through from the hallway.

- The TV's (4) in the bedrooms did not work.

- Light bulbs out all over the house

- Pool service and lawn people showed up during week but we were never told.

- The freezer in the kitchen had a big hold in it and we only found out when all our food started melting (see picture).

- There are only 4 burners (electric) on the kitchen stove and only 3 worked. It was obviously old and needed replacement as did the fridge/freezer.

- There was food left in the fridge when we arrived that we were told was left from the last people. We had to clean it out. Same for the pantry - lots of food that was all expired from 2014 thru 2016. I brought my own stuff but had to throw out all the expired food to make room for my stuff.

- The deck was a sore sight (see pictures). The wood was splintering, cracking and needed much repair and paint. You had to have shoes to walk on it.

- The cushions for the chairs were moldy and needed replacement (see picture). They had a few new cushions sitting in the garage which we took and used but not enough to cover all the chairs.

- The internet worked for 2 days and then stopped working.

- No toilet paper was provided except what was left on the roll from the last renter.

BOTTOM LINE: Rent Elsewhere. This house is not maintained

Owner's Response: The majority of items listed in this review are either untrue or vastly exaggerated. The frustration with the tenant was regarding the A/C. When it was determined that the upstairs A/C was not functioning properly, we had an HVAC repair main on site within a couple hours and the system repaired the same day. After being fixed, the HVAC tech informed the guest that they need to leave the windows shut to get the upstairs zone down to temperature, which is standard procedure. The HVAC tech returned the next day to check on the system, and noted they ignored his advice by leaving all windows open over night. The tenants furiously complained when the upstairs was "only" at 72 degrees that morning and proceeded to demand a 42% rebate of the entire rental fee. Unfortunately, it is hard to reason with the unreasonable. They have left this inaccurate and unfair review in retaliation for our unwillingness to meet their outrageous financial demands. With all due respect, the traveler was belligerent from initial contact and is the first traveler in over 3 years who has had anything negative to say about what is otherwise a beautiful house that is professionally maintained.

Excellent summer vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week vacation with my family in this home! The house is the perfect setting for a large group. We had adults and young children and everyone had a great time, there was so much to do in the backyard, plenty of places to just hang out. Everyone had there own space! It was very relaxing and peaceful as well as close drive to the beaches, stores etc. Owner was very easy to deal with and very accommodating.

Gamer's Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We were sold on this house because of the outdoor amenities and it exceeded our expectations. The property is absolutely amazing. We loved swimming in the heated pool, playing horseshoes, and the basketball court is ridiculous. There's tons of outdoor space and it's all beautifully manicured. We played Bocce ball, Smash ball, and even had room to toss a Frisbee! (There's a ping pong table in the garage). The screened in porch is perfect for nighttime card and board games. There's an outdoor grill. There's a fire pit. There's plenty of parking...

Don't worry, the house is pretty awesome too. :) There's so many bedrooms (and other rooms) you'll get lost. Kitchen, Family Room, and Dining Room are top notch. 5 stars - we'll be back!
