About owner

We have lived in Michigan for many years and have enjoyed all the activities it has to offer.

owner purchased this cottage in 2011

Why owner chose Northern Michigan

We first discovered this popular area of Michigan many years ago. We enjoy it and frequently use our family cottage which is close by. It is our escape from the work and we love the tranquility and enjoy all kinds of water sports

We found this rental cottage close by and bought it several years ago. We renovated it and it is now proving to be a popular place to stay. Bring your boat, canoe, kayak and fishing gear and enjoy all that Burt lake has to offer.

What makes this cottage unique

Fishing, boating, swimming are some of the activities available. This cottage is close to Alanson, Pelleston, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs and Mackinaw City and all that this area has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"The cottage was great! Clean and comfortable and had all the needed accommodations. The weather was not as cooperative - rain and cooler than expected. Overall we had a great time, boating/tubing and lazing around. thanks so much for your hospitality."

"I had a great time here! I love my bedroom with twin bunk beds. the cottage is a pretty place to be for the week.. I hope every family thinks so!"

Great little vacation with family!

Owners were great to work with. Good communication. Clean cabin and we liked the spot. No AC but it was cool enough at night with windows open. Thank you!

Charming, spectacular view, immaculate

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in cabin 2. I stayed in this same cabin through the 60's and 70's growing up. It was my family's annual trip. Several changes have been made throughout the years, but they were able to do this and keep the charm the cabin has. The view is amazing, and sunrises are gorgeous. The cabin is immaculate and well maintained. The Keefers are very friendly and very kind.

My grown kids came up to stay the weekend and understand why I love this place like I do. They now want to make this an annual vacation.

So grateful to find this through VRBO. I highly recommend spending a vacation here. Plenty to do playing in the water, with easy access into the lake from the dock, as well as many attractions nearby. Mackinaw is only about 20 minutes away.

Can't wait to go again next summer!

Such a happy place!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean and updated , but still had the charm of a classic lake cottage. We had plenty of room, all the appliances, cooking utensils, linens and everything we needed. We spent our mornings sitting on the deck watching the sunrise having coffee. Our evenings were spent roasting marshmallows over the fire. The kids swam, did cannonballs off the dock and just had fun! We took the advice from prior renters and had a blast exploring and searching for Petoskey stones (we found many). Mackinac Island was close enough, we went twice. I absolutely loved it! I'm hoping to plan another trip up there in 2018. Thank you so much Moira!

Very clean and lakefront was awesome

  • 5 of 5

This cottage and property was perfect for the price. Also the boat lifts were a bonus. The inside was very clean and the owners were very pleasant to deal with they were always in contact with me and answered any questions me or my wife had. I can guarantee you one thing this guy will be returning next year only about 3 weeks earlier for the smallmouth spawn and this is where I will be staying.

Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

First off the owners Moira and Dick were absolutely great to work with and very friendly. The cottage was immaculate and everything you would need is provided, pots and pans to paper towels. The view from the deck was beautiful and the lake is fantastic! We would and want to go back already.

Absolutely gorgeous!

  • 5 of 5

We were in love with this location! It is right on Burt Lake with a gorgeous view! All of the amenities were perfect, it's like they thought of everything! The cabin was quaint but updated. The owners were very easy to communicate with if needed (we didn't need to other then checking if there was wifi- there isn't but it was nice to be disconnected for a weekend) We stopped by a local bar/restaurant twice called Hoppy's on the East side of the lake- excellent food! Petoskey and Harbor springs are only a half hour drive. We would definitely stay here in the future and would recommend this place to anyone!!
