Nestling between vineyards and the Luberon mountain, this charming house has a beautiful unobstructed view of the majestic Ansouis Castle. The house is set on 1,3 hectares and offers peace and privacy. There is an enchanting small natural oak forest as well as an orchard with cherry, almond and olive trees. There is a boules court under the trees but close to the house and pool which offers great provencal fun. The house itself has cosy rooms and real ambience. All the rooms downstairs open onto the shady vine-covered terrace, which faces south onto the pool and the view. On your way upstairs to two more bedrooms, the slightly low beam adds to the character of the house. The kitchen is especially well equipped, and meals can be served indoors in the dining room, on the terrace, or under the shade of the trees between the house and the pool. Lavender, rosemary and the elegant Cyprus punctuate the landscape as does a beautiful old well. The house is best suited for a maximum of 6 adults and 2-3 children; or 4 adults and 4-5 children. It is the perfect place to return to after a day's sightseeing of the beautiful villages, or from a morning's shopping at the markets. Relax around the pool or sit under the shady trees and read a book in peace. In the evenings enjoy your aperitif on the terrace and soak up the view. Prepare your meals in a well equipped kitchen or visit some of the great restaurants in the area, including La Petite Maison de Cucuron, which has a one-star Michelin rating and also offers fabulous cooking courses. The surrounding areas are truly beautiful Provencal landscapes, making this a perfect place for cycling or walking/jogging. The location of the house is really exceptional.
The house is extremely well located between Cucuron and Ansouis, and is 7 km from Lourmarin. Both Ansouis and Lourmarin are listed as amongst the 'most beautiful villages in France'. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes, the villages with their weekly markets and delicious fresh produce, venture just a little further through the spectacular Luberon mountain to visit Bonnieux, Menerbes (both also listed), Lacoste, Gordes and Roussillon. Enlist in cookery courses at the fabulous 'La Petite Maison' restaurant in Cucuron; go on a wine tour of the region or see the beautiful gardens at Val Joannis in Pertuis. For a change, spend a day in Aix-en-Provence or Avignon for museums and shopping, or a day at the beach in Cassis. This is a truly ideal location which offers such variety. Best of all is to return to St Esteve and know you are in a little corner of paradise.
