About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths (Sleeps 4-6) Beautifully Renovated Historic Home

A beautifully renovated townhouse in Historic Downtown Savannah! This property has been completely updated with beautiful high end finishes for your comfort and enjoyment. The owners have successfully preserved historic features throughout such as mantles and molding that are especially ornate and memorable. Sit on the front porch and wave to the tour Trolleys or cozy up on the private back porch with a good book.

This home has luxurious King beds in both bedrooms! Each has its own television and French doors leading to the cozy back porch with comfy reading chairs which are dedicated to this listing exclusively.

The full bathroom is conveniently located between the bedrooms and the spacious half bath is across the hallway, also convenient for all members of your party.

There is a pullout sofa in the living room allowing the home to sleep 6 adults.

The living room, dining and kitchen are one large open area. This is a great setup for socializing! The gorgeous high end outdoor space is the crowning jewel of this property. Enjoy a working outdoor wood burning fireplace during the 9 or so months out of the year when Savannah can surprise you with a cold evening.

A popular wedding/event venue 'Brockington Hall' is 1.5 blocks from this home. The surrounding amenities include a major well stocked grocery store (1 block away), a luxury day spa (3 blocks away), tennis courts (at Forsyth), a gourmet health food store (at the South end of Forsyth) and many fabulous restaurants (700 Drayton, Leoci's Trattoria, Local 11Ten) within a few blocks of the home.

This unit is all on one level. There are some stairs from the sidewalk to the main entrance but no interior staircase is present.

The courtyard (separated by stairs from the private porch) with more patio seating and a working outdoor fireplace is shared with the 1BR/1BA carriage house which is listing #475721 on VRBO.

Why Mary Anderson chose Savannah

Historic Downtown Savannah is a place where people get enchanted and fall head over heels in love. With the city itself and with their loved ones too. This house is a great representation of why Savannah has an appeal that has made it the destination of over a million tourists annually.

What makes this house unique

Most vacation guests want to buy groceries and spend some time 'at home'. This location will ensure you can do that with the greatest of ease while also being a stone's throw from every tourist destination on your list. Walkers and runners as well as cyclists will also love their proximity to Forsyth Park. Families with children will be pleased with the lovely playgrounds nearby. While all of Savannah boasts beautiful houses, there are just a few 'Belgium Stone' or 'Belgium Block' homes like this one that convey a sense of grandeur and solidity. There truly is nothing like a well built historic home that has been carefully renovated to add modern day comforts!

Comfortable, clean, and convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed the weekend at this beautiful spacious apartment this past weekend with our two teenage girls and had a wonderful time. Bedrooms were much larger than expected and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Both rooms led out to a nice quiet porch on private side of home. Kitchen has all your necessities and more. The location was perfect! Grocery store was a few blocks away and a wonderful bakery and coffee cafe steps away. Downtown shopping, restaurants, and river were about 20 minute walk away or 5 minute car ride. Some of the parks were within a 5-10 minute walk. Will certainly stay here again if we are able to revisit Savannah.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here! It was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Nicely furnished with a well stocked kitchen. Parking was very easy. We always found a space in front of the house. The coffee shop on the corner was a nice bonus!

Good Location but You will be watched the entire visit

  • 2 of 5

Let me start by saying that we rented the house because we had 4 different people coming from three different states to attend a graduation. I beat my parents there by a few hours so went ahead and did some grocery shopping. Pets are not allowed in the house so my (graduating) daughter, who lives 15 minutes away happily volunteered to take the dog for the weekend.

My mom got to the house while we were en route from the grocery store and began bringing her clothes inside. Her (hypoallergenic) dog was following her in and out of the door. Before I could even get out of my car, the rental property people were calling me, literally yelling at me, about there being a dog in the house. I explained to her that the dog was going to my daughters and it was just timing that my mom got there before I got back. She then commented about having experiences with people 'supposedly' taking their pets elsewhere but not really doing it. (So, in short, she was calling me a liar). **I also opened my email later that night and found an email equal to that of the phone call noting that "if they allowed me to stay..."

Needless to say, I was in shock over the call and I walked in and simply told my mom that we needed to go ahead and take the dog to my daughters. As a person who suffers from allergies myself, I totally understand the impact of having a pet around so I don't blame them for inquiring--but yelling at me on the phone?? REALLY? How about saying, "Hi Bonnie, I am not sure if it was communicated properly, but I was told that there was a dog on the property - is this correct?" The property managers need a lesson in customer etiquette.

The next morning we all got up and made breakfast. Aside from the bathroom having drain flies, my mother spent an hour cleaning the oven because it literally looked like a BBQ grill. We were disgusted. Let me also add that the front windows are the traditional French door types and we opened the curtains to enjoy the warm weather. The owners of the house (I assume) who LIVE UPSTAIRS (and have their own porch) came down to our front porch, met with friends and sat on the swing while they allowed their children to stand at the windows and stare at us. We all looked at each other like, "Are they really just letting him sit there and stare at us?"

In short, the house was in a good location/adequate but not worth the hassle of 'Big Brother' watching your every move. Will never rent from Savannah Luxury Rentals again

Owner's Response: Future guests, if you see the long history of great reviews at this property you may notice none of them complain about any similar "issues". This guest was very annoyed that we enforced our no pet rule. My phone call to her did not involve yelling. I was polite but firm. It is one of the hardest parts of my job handling situations when a guest blatantly violates one of our clearly published rental rules. Thankfully the majority of our guests are extremely respectful of all policies so this does not come up often for me despite a high volume of customers. Anyone who would like to break the house rules and not have the owner/manager notice it should definitely not book with me. I do thank this guest for making it known we enforce the rules. I am saddened that she chose to give a poor review about such a lovely rental unit as retaliation about this. Mary

The unit met all of our expectations! It was the perfect place for a mother / daughter getaway.!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Porch Lover'a Dream. The unit itself was beautifully cared for. We loved the porches and have never slept so well when away from home!

The location is great. We enjoyed Mate Factor a few doors down to start our days. Easy walking distance to bus stops or anywhere in the historical area... including the river. We enjoyed ending our days on the front porch! I would definitely stay here again.

Perfection in Savannah

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay.

The accommodations were great.

We were close to the grocery store, Forsyth Park and an awesome coffee shop. A bit of a walk to the River but that was part of our plan.

The home was beautiful, clean and well stocked. The beds were so comfortable and we loved the front porch and back courtyard.

We really hope to make it back!

Thanks for a wonderful easy trip.
