We stayed on this Big Island home for 9 nights and we enjoyed it very much. The property is surrounded by beautiful trees and plants and is very private and quiet - this was important to us. We loved swimming in the pool throughout the day, listening to the birds and eating the fresh fruit provided by the property owners. We will definitely come back!
Loved our stay at the house. Our group of 4 adults and 4 teens fit great. House is clean and outfitted with everything you could think of. Kitchen is well stocked with essentials and every small appliance you can think of. Beds were comfy. Lots of towels, linens, beach towels, beach gear, chairs, coolers. Pool was perfect temp for evening swims after being out for the day. Lots of mature trees surrounding the home gives it absolute privacy. The neighbourhood is quiet too. Great central location for south Kona or Kohala beaches without the tourist crowding at resorts, etc. Renting the home was a breeze, and Debbie was quick with answers to my questions, etc. Caretaker came by to make sure we were settled and needed anything. Gardener came to the deck one morning and offered fruit and tours (had a huge amount of papaya, starfruit, pomelo, apple bananas and avocado waiting for us when we checked in). As you will get the evening sun, the house can warm up quite a bit; however, using the sun shades on the deck and opening the doors (which are screened) cools it fast for a great night's sleep. We appreciated the info provided at the house. Airport is at the bottom of the hill and slightly to the right, but we were not bothered by noise at all. As we have made a few trips to the Big Island, we'd definitely look at renting this home again, and we are recommending to friends already. Mahalo for sharing your home with us!
We are a group of 6 that travel together every winter for 2 week and stay at various tropical locations renting homes. This year we chose Kona for the second time. This house is by far one of the best homes yet, very roomy, well maintained, clean and extremely well stocked with kitchen wares, paper/cleaning product, beach chairs/snorkels/towels etc. List goes on. The pool is amazing and warm, and the ocean view from the pool deck is spectacular over the orchard that we could pick various fruits from every day. The bananas were a huge hit and delicious. The owner Tom was very gracious and caring with guests needs. The gardener will take you on a tour of the orchard and tell you all about the tropical plants and fruit trees. The airport is only 5 miles away, but not noisy, it is a very quiet neighbourhood. You could not ask for a better vacation home.

A highlight of our 2 week stay was being able to come back to this beautiful home each night after exploring the endless things to do on the Big Island. The view, the pool, the orchard with fresh fruit all add to making this a wonderful place to stay. We found that it was just far enough up-slope from the ocean that evenings were quiet and perfectly cool enough for sleeping. The home was very clean and obviously well cared for. Thank you to Debbie and Tom for taking the extra steps to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We would highly recommend this home to anybody and hope to be able to stay there again .
This home is wonderful, particularly for families with small kids who don't want to stay in a condo or resort. We traveled with three kids (5, 3, 18months) and I loved the idea of an orchard and a swimming pool to keep them occupied if we were working around nap times or meltdowns. Our kids LOVED playing (though closed toed shoes are a must for the orchard) and exploring. The setting was picturesque and private even though it is a residential neighborhood. Debbie was also so thoughtful to provide a pack n play when I mentioned I might need one. Beach towels, snorkeling gear, and sun hats are also available for your use so don't bring from home.
In addition to the lovely setting, the rooms were spacious and clean. There was plenty of garage storage for our stroller and suitcases and preparing meals at home rather than eating out was very nice. It felt like home, which if you travel with kids, is a big bonus.
This home is located on the "beach side" of the Island so if you want volcanos and waterfalls it is a bit of a drive, but it is close to Kona and all the shopping you could desire. Its proximity to the airport and the Costco were a big plus as we had rental car issues that required us to KEEP going down to the rental places near the airport, but it wasn't a distance.
Debbie was great to work with. She replied to all questions I had very promptly and the people she had caring for the house (gardner/pool maintenance/trash guy) were all very affable and accommodating. The gardner even took my mother in law and husband on an hour long tour of the orchard describing the fruits and plants AND brought lovely fresh flowers.
It was paradise and if I am lucky enough to go to the Big Island again, I would DEFINITELY stay at this home a second time... maybe without the kids! ;)
The house was neat, tidy and clean. It was pleasant to have the private pool and quiet away from the noise of the coast. The view was beautiful but not always clear as the vog was in most of the time. That I am sure comes and goes. We could still see the coast most of the time even with the vog. We enjoyed eating and spending time on the Lani. Although the house is away from the ocean the hill side slops/drops down so you over see the coast. The building don't block the view and the greenery and flowers are a very pleasant sight. We were very pleased with our stay and the location.
She was easy to contact and deal with any issues we had. We were very pleased with this VRBO and would stay again!
A short drive from these homes are some of the island’s best beaches. The Natural Energy Lab beach, also known as the Wawaloli Beach Park, is located a short drive away. From this area you can walk the beach front and trails all the way to Honokohau Boat Harbor, a distance of about 7.5 miles. Along the way you will pass through the Pine Tree surfing area, the island’s most popular surfing beach. If you wish a shorter walk, you can directly access the surf beach from the paved public road into the Kohanaiki Subdivision. South of this area is the Koloko-Honokohau National Park, which includes an ancient Hawaiian fish pond used by royalty. Direct access into the pond is available on Ala Nui Kaloko Road. Continuing south along the trail brings you to a long sandy beach that continues all the way to the Boat Harbor. Maps to these beaches and access points are available upon request.
