About Owner/Manager

After retiring from a 33 year career in sales management/ marketing, we visited our oldest daughter Etta and fell in love with Asheville. We moved to the Asheville Area in 2002 and lived in the house that became our first rental, “Our House.” (We built a cabin on the property and moved into it). Soon to follow, came our youngest daughter, Farris, and her now husband Danny. In 2009 their daughter Alyssa arrived and in 2015 Haley was born, making this a true family business.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2012

Why Owner/Manager chose Asheville Area

We fell in love with Asheville and all it has to offer. We then decided to share the beauty of the Asheville Area and the hospitality of the Smokey Mountains with others. “Our House” and “My Roundette” were on the property when we originally bought it. Both have since been remodeled. We then purchased additional land and built “My Place,” “The Huntley,” and “The Garden Cabin.” “Log Gap” and “Prayer Ridge” were both bought at separate, more remote locations. Both were extensively remodeled.

What makes this house unique

The benefit of staying at “The Cove at Fairview” is the unique experience. Each home offers you a different experience in small ways – outdoor fireplaces, swinging beds, and a fifty mile view are just a few. Also, enjoy waterfalls, Koi Ponds, a Lotus Pond, horses, chickens (enjoy fresh eggs), donkeys, goats, native plants, & flower gardens.

By staying here, you are nestled into all of the beautiful natural settings in this peaceful cove.

While being very private and close to nature, you are still afforded all of the conveniences of technology and are located near all this area has to offer. Truly a place to come and renew yourself. Kick back, relax, and have a true retreat or a wonderful place to land after an exhausting day of fun (downtown is only 15 minutes away).

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have so enjoyed our time with our family at this beautiful mountain home! The view is spectacular and the house very comfortable with all the comforts of home. Seldom does a place exceed expectations, but this one did. We will certainly comeback is we can! Frank was a wonderful host.

Mountain wknd

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with family for the weekend to enjoy the mountains, I'm from near by and was celebrating an occasion. I wanted a mountain home with beautiful views and that's exactly what I got. Get ready for a steep drive that is not for the driving faint of heart. Enough space to share with others without feeling crowded. Beautiful deck area with awesome swinging chairs, we spent most of our time here. Bring citronella candles because the bugs can be brutal in even 60 degree weather. Frank was kind and very helpful with many options and suggestions on things to do near by. Felt very comfortable here and would recommend this place to friends and family.

Beautiful, quiet, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

I wish we could have stayed longer. Prayer Ridge is the most private cabin I have stayed in, and the view was just gorgeous. We had many chipmunk and turkey visits during our stay. You don't get tired of the changing colors of the mountain ranges over the course of a day. Being able to enjoy the solitude and quiet from a whirlpool at night is another bonus. The house was extremely well maintained and everything very well landscaped. The cabin really has everything you need. We also loved Frank's hospitality, the opportunity to visit the animals at his farm, the chance to go horseback riding at an absolutely wonderful farm nearby, and really everything else in Fairview. This is where we'll stay for our next visit in the mountains....

Amazing views! Very relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

The only negative was that the water pressure was absolutely terrible! It, however, would not deter me from staying again in the future.

Beautiful Asheville Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous property at the top of a mountain with breathtaking reviews. It is in excellent condition and very well furnished with everything you need for a perfect getaway. The kitchen is well-stocked and very updated with great appliances, the house is extremely clean (I'm also an Innkeeper so I very conscious of maintenance and cleanliness), the beds are super comfortable with new high quality linens, the wifi & cable with great flat screen tvs were awesome (after all it was New Year's Eve football bowl/playoff games!) and it was super convenient to get to all the fun things to do in Asheville. Frank is the epitome' of a great Innkeeper-he shows you all the things you need to know about the house-which is so much better than trying to find it in a book. We came to Asheville after researching the area a lot, with reservations booked at some great restaurants (Tupelo Honey Cafe', Curate', Chestnut, Buchon), and a checklist of things we wanted to see ( Biltmore, River Arts district, Sierra Nevada and other craft breweries like Wicked Weed, etc.), Battery Park Book Exchange (champagne & book store), and Blue Ridge Parkway hiking. But FRANK added another must do and we are so glad we did; we had breakfast at The Local Joint! Definitely fit that in! We also had some friends stay at another property with The Cove at the bottom of the mountain so it was convenient to coordinate all our activities being so close. I highly recommend the house on Prayer Ridge; you may find less expensive vacation rentals but the view is priceless! We definitely would love to return in the spring when the rhododendrons are blooming and we can sit out on the awesome deck.

Hospitality with a View

  • 5 of 5

This property is located in a great spot at the top of the mountain. As others have mentioned it is secluded without the feeling of being stranded. Frank is THE BEST property manager we have ever encountered and has everything lined out for a great stay. Everything about our trip exceeded our expectations. A special note of thanks to Frank who was able to relocate us to another outstanding property at a lower elevation due to a sever winter storm near the end of our stay.

Great Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Prayer Ridge was exactly the answer to our prayers for a nice quiet getaway with friends. From Frank meeting us upon arrival to the AWESOME panoramic views. The house smelt of freshly baked bread, and was in SUPERB condition. We were able to get an uber driver for those looking to explore downtown without worrying about the drive. Frank even went the extra mile to ship back a personal belonging left behind. You will not be disappointed with Prayer Ridge. We will be making a return trip for sure!!.
