About Owner/Manager

After retiring from a 33 year career in sales management/ marketing, we visited our eldest daughter Etta and fell in love with Asheville. We moved to the Asheville Area in 2002 and lived in the house that became our first rental, “Our House.” Soon to follow, came our youngest daughter, Farris, and her now husband Danny. In 2009 their daughter Aylssa arrived, making this a true family business.

Owner/Manager purchased this house in 2012

Why Owner/Manager chose Asheville Area

We fell in love with Asheville and all it has to offer. We then decided to share the beauty of the Asheville Area and the hospitality of the Smokey Mountains with others. “Our House” and “My Roundette” were on the property when we originally bought it. Both have since been remodeled. We then purchased additional land and built “My Place,” “The Huntley,” and “The Garden Cabin.” “Log Gap” and “Prayer Ridge” were both bought at separate locations. Both were extensively remodeled.

What makes this house unique

The benefit of staying at “The Cove at Fairview” is the unique experience. Each home offers you a different experience in small ways – outdoor fireplaces, swinging beds, and a fifty mile view are just a few. Also, enjoy waterfalls, Koi Ponds, Lotus Flowers, horses, chickens (enjoy fresh eggs), native plants, & flower gardens.

By staying here, you are nestled into all of the beautiful natural settings in this peaceful cove.

While being very private and close to nature, you are still afforded all of the conveniences of technology and are located near all this area has to offer. Truly a place to come and renew yourself. Kick back, relax, and have a true retreat or a wonderful place to land after an exhausting day of fun.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have so enjoyed our time with our family at this beautiful mountain home! The view is spectacular and the house very comfortable with all the comforts of home. Seldom does a place exceed expectations, but this one did. We will certainly comeback is we can! Frank was a wonderful host.

Beautiful Asheville Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous property at the top of a mountain with breathtaking reviews. It is in excellent condition and very well furnished with everything you need for a perfect getaway. The kitchen is well-stocked and very updated with great appliances, the house is extremely clean (I'm also an Innkeeper so I very conscious of maintenance and cleanliness), the beds are super comfortable with new high quality linens, the wifi & cable with great flat screen tvs were awesome (after all it was New Year's Eve football bowl/playoff games!) and it was super convenient to get to all the fun things to do in Asheville. Frank is the epitome' of a great Innkeeper-he shows you all the things you need to know about the house-which is so much better than trying to find it in a book. We came to Asheville after researching the area a lot, with reservations booked at some great restaurants (Tupelo Honey Cafe', Curate', Chestnut, Buchon), and a checklist of things we wanted to see ( Biltmore, River Arts district, Sierra Nevada and other craft breweries like Wicked Weed, etc.), Battery Park Book Exchange (champagne & book store), and Blue Ridge Parkway hiking. But FRANK added another must do and we are so glad we did; we had breakfast at The Local Joint! Definitely fit that in! We also had some friends stay at another property with The Cove at the bottom of the mountain so it was convenient to coordinate all our activities being so close. I highly recommend the house on Prayer Ridge; you may find less expensive vacation rentals but the view is priceless! We definitely would love to return in the spring when the rhododendrons are blooming and we can sit out on the awesome deck.

Hospitality with a View

  • 5 of 5

This property is located in a great spot at the top of the mountain. As others have mentioned it is secluded without the feeling of being stranded. Frank is THE BEST property manager we have ever encountered and has everything lined out for a great stay. Everything about our trip exceeded our expectations. A special note of thanks to Frank who was able to relocate us to another outstanding property at a lower elevation due to a sever winter storm near the end of our stay.

Great Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Prayer Ridge was exactly the answer to our prayers for a nice quiet getaway with friends. From Frank meeting us upon arrival to the AWESOME panoramic views. The house smelt of freshly baked bread, and was in SUPERB condition. We were able to get an uber driver for those looking to explore downtown without worrying about the drive. Frank even went the extra mile to ship back a personal belonging left behind. You will not be disappointed with Prayer Ridge. We will be making a return trip for sure!!.

beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location on the mountain top. Very secluded and private but still close to everything. Frank gave us a personal tour and met us at the bottom of the mountain to take us up there. He had everything we would need while there including a notebook full of things to do and directions. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful view, peaceful location and well maintained property. We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about our stay. To start, the owner met us at the bottom of the property and showed us the way to the very top of the mountain where the house was located. You are literally in the middle of nowhere! There are a few homes on the way up but got the most part, you will be on your own along with the views. There was bread being made for us and fresh farm eggs. They were delicious! The house was clean with plenty of towels and any basic things you would need. We ate at home most days. We used the owner's electrical grill and enjoyed ourselves. The hot tub is located outside on the deck so you can see the views as well. We liked and decided to extend our stay one more day. Highly recommend the place! We loved it and so did our 11-month old baby!

Beautiful view, quiet escape

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Prayer Ridge. We were two couples from New York City, and arriving to fresh eggs and homemade bread was such a treat! The view is absolutely stunning, and I loved sitting on the porch in the evenings, taking it all in. The kitchen is fully equipped for meals in, but the locations is also great for heading to nearby spots for delicious local food.

Frank is a great host, and we would absolutely return to Prayer Ridge!

A few notes for future travelers:

1) The drive up can be a little intimidating - it's 3 curvy miles up on a very steep incline. Just a heads up.

2) Two of the three bedrooms are adjoined and don't allow for much privacy between them. One of those rooms has the best view in the house, so if you are a group, you might want to decide in advance who is sleeping where!

3) It's going to be significantly cooler up on the ridge than in town. Take this into account when packing.

4) The hot tub is great but can really only comfortably seat 3 people. 4 is possible, but it's going to be leg soup.

5) When you are at the house, you are sort of "confined" to the property. This means no exploring, wandering, etc. This was not a problem at all for us, but it might be important to know if you are looking for that!

Frank is *not kidding* when he tells you that The Local Joint has the best breakfast. It is outstanding.
