Appalachian Lady Bug is a 15-year-old home built by local craftsmen. The cabin is adorned with reclaimed barn wood, handcrafted metal work, masonry and woodwork. The result is a true taste of Appalachia, yet it hosts all the conveniences of a modern home. The amount of artistic detail and variety of wood and stone used in the construction of the cabin give it a purely “one of a kind” feel. The cabin is newly renovated and decorated in folk art from the area. This property is uniquely nestled in the National Forest which can be observed from the covered porch and an outdoor kitchen area which opens into a large patio and fire pit.
Hi folks! Thank you for your interest in my cabin. A bit about me... I am a native Georgia girl, a mom, a wife and a librarian (no bun and glasses for me, though!) My husband and I live 30 minutes from the cabin with our 2 children and our crazy dog Mangus.
Sarah Reynolds purchased this cabin in 1999
This house is near and dear to me, and I lived here for 12 years. After re-marrying, my husband and I wanted to keep the place and thought it would be great to fix it up and share it with others. It is one of those places that just makes you feel good. While the inside is lovely, I have probably spent more hours on the porch just 'being' than anywhere else. It is cool in the summer, lush in the spring, glorious in fall, and as cozy as can be in the winter.
The seclusion and coziness of the Ladybug was perfect for our weekend getaway and mini-moon. The rainy Fall weekend was peaceful and relaxing after our wedding weekend.
Great property! Lovely home, simply lovely,
We had a great time staying at this cabin. Plenty of room, comfy beds, tons of unique character. It was fun to find all the art pieces throughout the cabin and property. Very quiet and peaceful. Can't wait to go back again. Thank you!
We had a great time at the Ladybug cabin! It is much more spacious than the pictures make it look! One thing to be aware of is that one of the loft beds has a straight vertical ladder. We didn't end up using the loft up there because we were all too scared to climb up and down it, but it is great for a more adventurous person! All in all, the cabin and surrounding area was beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. It was a perfect for our girls getaway.
We stayed at this cabin because of its proximity to Bull Mountain Lodge where we had my nieces wedding. The cabin has some great features such as 2 fire pits, a gas grill, washer /dryer room, a ton of dvd's, games, books, cable, wifi and free phone usage. The downstairs bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on! The kitchen is adequately stocked, the living room is cozy and the lofts are perfect for kids or singles. My only regret is not having more time to spend there but would love to come back someday.
We stayed there to attend a wedding, but it would be a very nice place for a serene getaway to relax and enjoy nature. We saw wild turkey and deer on the road to the cabin. We didn't use the deck or firepits, but it is set up very nicely to enjoy outdoor activities. It's quiet and private and nestled right at the base of foothills and the national forest. Sarah was very easy to deal with and promptly answered any questions we had. I see why she has such high reviews from all the guests that stay there......
We had a family wedding in the area and we're looking for a comfortable place for 3 generations to stay together. What we found was a home to call our own for the long weekend. The directions were easy to follow, the house was stocked with everything you could need, and the owner was so nice to talk to. The beds were comfy. The showers are really nicely updated. The kitchen cupboards hold just about anything you could want or need. I was so relieved to find a laundry room with iron and board so we could get the wrinkles out of the flowergirl dresses. The outdoor areas are great and we spent a few nights with the kids roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. They have all the wood and sticks there for you no need to go looking. Wish we could have stayed longer, maybe next time. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us.
The location of the cabin offers seclusion, yet is easily accessible to active vacationers. It is located only 4 miles from Amicolola State Park, 12 miles from Dahlonega, and 15 miles from Dawsonville. The immediate area offers a myriad of outdoor activities including hiking, hunting, horseback riding, and fishing, but is also a great place to just sit and read a book.
