About Lisa MacEwen

My name is Lisa MacEwen and this land has been in my family for over 200 years. I grew up down the road and this property was the site of a Homestead, built in 1805, by my Great Great Grandparents and later by my Great Aunt. I live in Toronto with my 2 children. We built this home in 2012 to enjoy for ourselves for several weeks in the summer.

Lisa MacEwen purchased this bungalow in 2012

Why Lisa MacEwen chose Prince Edward Island

This is a special place with some of the oldest Chestnut trees in PEI, dating back to 1914, (which my Great Uncle brought back from California, to plant, before he headed of the WW1). After unsuccessful attempts to save the old Homestead, I decided to demolish it and built a brand new modern, modest but spacious and cozy home. I was able to save some pieces from the old Homestead that were incorporated in the decor and construction to give this new place some traditional character. Although I own other waterfront land on the Westriver, I chose to build here, as this land has a special, tranquil and peaceful energy to it, with a view! Every time I come home here, I don't want to leave!

What makes this bungalow unique

The water on the South Shore is warmer and safer than the tourist popular Northshore. Canoe Cove, 5 minutes away, is one of the most popular south shore beaches known for its safe water, tide pools and red cliffs. You can also have you own private access to the West River in front of the property where you can explore by digging clams, oysters and mussels. The property also has 2 hammocks, 4 adirondack chairs around a fire pit, soceer and volleyball/badminton nets, two tire swings, swing, horseshoe set.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed your cottage very much. We had a family of quails walking by the cottage several times, and we also watched the falcon nest from the living room.

Thank-you for allowing us to use it these past three weeks.

The property is very special with incredible views.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is sited on the property to get the best views, with large windows that capture the sunrise and a 270 degree view. The cottage is well-equipped and very private.

We enjoyed watching a family of quails and nesting falcons on the property.

The location, 15 minutes from Charlottetown, 10 minutes from 2 golf courses and 10 minutes from Canoe Cove beach makes it a great choice for families, golfers and those wanting access to the theatres and culture offered in Charlottetown.

We found it a perfect location for exploring the north, east and west ends of the Island. It was so nice to return at the end of the day to this peaceful setting. Truly heavenly!

Excellent rental; secluded with all the amenities

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely three day stay at Westville Vista. It was close to so many site seeing locations and our relaxation time at the home was also enjoyable. We were able to make our own breakfasts in the full kitchen which was so very appreciated when travelling so many kilometers. The comfort factor of the home as well as the thoughtful decorating made it a perfect vacation spot. Definitely highly recommended from our stand point.

One of the best places we've ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

The Westville Vista was secluded, modern, and very comfortable. Waking up everyday to the stunning view of the West River and a full kitchen to cook breakfast was the perfect way to start our days before heading out to explore the sights. The cottage's central location made day trips convenient, and shops were all close by with some great recommendations left for us by the owners. The property itself is vast, beautiful, and relaxing. We made several walks to the water to walk the beach and get a closer look at the falcons nest. In short, we loved the place!

The rental process was made easy by the owners. They made everything clear from start to finish; we even had a small plumbing problem that was taken care of by the owners and property managers almost immediately. Thank you so much for sharing your property with us. Highly recommended to anyone visiting PEI.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your wonderful comments Scott. I am now here at Westville with my family for three weeks and always feel so peaceful and relaxed. The water is like a mirror this morning. I noticed that you left your large cook pot, did you want me to bring it back to Toronto for you? If so, happy to put it in the car! Kindly, Lisa MacEwen

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place! We had a day of rainy coastal weather where we cuddled inside and made a wonderful dinner with the full kitchen and one stunning sunny day where we napped in hammocks, explored beaches and had an amazing BBQ dinner.

The place was easy to find and very clean and tidy on arrival. Loved how there was oil and salt and pepper (plus a few other essentials) in the cubbords. Wonderfully equipped kitchen and with the grocer a five minute drive away we easily had everything we needed.

PEI is a beautiful destination everyone should see and after a long day of exploring this is the wonderful place you want to come home to, and then wake up to to energize you for the next day. Highly recommend, had a wonderful stay!

We made the right choice!

  • 5 of 5

So happy with our choice of rentals for our recent family vacation to PEI. This was our (myself, my husband and our 7 year old twins) first visit to the island and we don't tend to over-plan our vacations, so location is always a key factor. Lisa's property is not only gorgeous, but it is in an excellent location. Super close to a gas station/convenience/ice cream store and only a short drive to everything else imaginable. We took advantage of most of the amenities on pit, tire swings, hammock and huge yard. The riverfront was perfect for morning beachcombing and there are several other options close-by. I can't think of anything we needed that wasn't available in the house, and we do a lot of cooking! Privacy was top notch. Beds were comfortable. The entire place was very clean. We've all agreed that we will return to PEI and to Westville Vista!

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Such a beautiful home! Plenty of space inside and out. We were able to easily access grocery stores, liquor store, drug store.....with in minutes. Our kids loved to beach comb morning and evening, and got plenty of use out of the tire swings! The bonfire pit was a plus! Our favourite part was the view, morning coffee right outside the master bedroom each day. A very tranquil, peaceful place. We will definitely be returning!
