Santa Barbara Vacation Rentals is pleased to offer this beautiful vacation rental that is located on the Upper Riviera of Santa Barbara. Casa de los Arcos is named for the distinctive Spanish archways that you will see immediately upon entering. They are one of the design features that are characteristic of the prominent Santa Barbara builder, Alex D'Alfonso, who constructed this house in 1937. A driving force behind the transition of Santa Barbara architecture toward the Spanish Colonial Revival style, D'Alfonso built many of Santa Barbara's landmarks, including the Nogales Medical Building, Guadalupe School, the El Prado Motel, the St. Francis Medical Convent, the first Sambo's Restaurant, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel and Mausoleum at the Old Mission.
In a city known as "The American Riviera" this home is located in the Upper Riviera neighborhood, with tremendous views of the city, Pacific Ocean, and the Channel Islands. Alameda Padre Serra, or "APS" as the locals call it, is the main street of the Upper Riviera and gives you quick access to downtown and the beaches.
In addition to its spectacular views, this home features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, the first guest room has a queen-size bed and the second guest room has two queen-size beds. Guests can enjoy views of Santa Barbara from almost every room in the house and you will surely enjoy sitting by the fire in the living room while you recap the wonderful time you have had exploring beautiful Santa Barbara.

Just got back from our girl's weekend and had a wonderful time. House as advertised, loved it!!
One thing, NOT handicapped friendly... had a gal on crutches with lots of stairs to get to front door... it was a challenge but we made it work and it was well worth it! Kitchen functioned just fine for us, not a "chef's kitchen" by any means, but that wasn't a priority for us, we did breakfast, lunch and dinner and had everything we needed. Had such character, we give it a 5!!
We just got back home yesterday and will be booking this house again! We are a young couple with a 3 year old and 6 month old. Yes, the APS is a busy street, but it is not as daunting as other reviewers have stated. The house has a lot of character which we really liked, old wood floors and archways into every room. There is no railing in the back yard but that was no issue for my very active 3 year old. Views were amazing and we happened to be there the week the USS Ronald Reagan was in town, we woke up every morning to a beautiful view and the USS Reagan. House is only a few minute drive from State Street. Property manager was very easy to work with. Great house! Great views!
There are many things to appreciate about Casa de los Arcos. The views are astounding. The game room provided hours of fun for my family- particularly the electric piano, telescope and foosball table. The backyard is peaceful and offers two different spaces for contemplation of the ocean views. The hot tub is great. There is plenty of room. And the house is in excellent repair. But I wouldn't stay here again. The main reason is the location of the house. APS is a very busy street, and the house is located right on the road, past a blind curve. This makes for extremely stressful parking, and particularly stressful backing out of the driveway. So stressful, indeed, that my 75 year old mother refused to do it. While there are two tight parking spots in front of the garage (which is not available for use) there is absolutely no parking on APS itself. In 18 years of living in Santa Barbara I have never seen a neighborhood with worse parking than that of the immediate neighborhood around Casa de los Arcos. Furthermore, the block of APS where the house is located has such a narrow shoulder that it is unsafe to walk either direction from the house. Unsafe for adults. Families with young children will also want to be aware that their are no railings for the steps in the yard. I was also disappointed by the lack of mixing bowls, serving utensils, and teapot, in the kitchen, although this is a relatively minor complaint. The kitchen did not appear to be set up for serious cooking. And there appeared to be no broom in the house- a vacuum cleaner but no broom. We should have asked the property company for one, but arrived on a Thursday, and didn't look for the broom until after dinner on Friday, at which point the property company was closed for the weekend.
Casa de Los Arcos is a treasure with stunning views from every window. The property was the perfect place for our family to stay while in town for a wedding. The home is meticulously maintained. The hot tub sparkling clean. This was my second VBRO rental this summer and again my expectations were exceeded.
We really loved Los Arcos. Beautiful classic spanish-style house, location is in upper Riviera which is our favorite area. Spectacular unobstructed views. Very clean, well-maintained and very nicely furnished. Back yard is terraced with great views from hot tub. Has been our favorite place in Santa Barbara. Will definitely come back.
We really enjoyed our stay at Los Arcos. Classic Santa Barbara home, very well preserved and beautifully furnished. Views are amazing. Back yard very pretty and view from hot tub at night as good as it gets. We will definitely come back!
