We have been vacationing and living in York and Cape Neddick for 30 years. We are in Cape Neddick and believe it to be the
best location of all. In between York beaches and Ogunquit beach it is the perfect location.
Nancy Monks purchased this house in 2005
This dramatic house is a perfect spot for vacationers. Walking to Cape Neddick Beach is a 10 minute walk, or even quicker drive. The house provides easy, summer living with the sounds
of the ocean in the background. The soaring two story windows showcase the ocean views.
Agamenticus Avenue provides privacy and easy access to the
ocean and summer activities of York Beach.
The private pebble beach available to our renters is a special place for that quiet afternoon of watching the tide come in. The proximity to children's activities such as the wild animal park, amusement rides, arcade and gift shops makes it a family friendly location. We believe that a vacation in Cape Neddick is the perfect spot in spring, summer, and fall.
This was a great rental home for our family of 8 adults and 2 dogs!! Plenty of separated sleeping spaces :) 3 showers, (the info above says 4 so that is a mistake--4 bathrooms but only 3 showers--which was plenty)--large decks for eating on and watching the sunrise! Excellent location! Able to walk to a beach where the dogs could swim. Even Shorts sands area was close enough to walk into town for ice cream. Large lawn for all sorts of games!
The owners are very kind. One of our dogs got scared and ran off and they were so helpful in looking for him. We ran out of gas for grill one night and they replaced it next day.Kitchen had everything we could need.
The funky layout of the house was what really made me love it!
Would absolutely stay here again!
My family and friends have been gathering at this house for three years in a row. When we arrived this year, my nine year old exclaimed "we're home!" The house is huge and easily accommodates big families. The views are exquisite and we love falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. The location can't be beat... you are in a very quiet neighborhood with many beautiful homes and you have a path directly to pint cove where you can skip stones and explore tidal pools. Additionally you can walk about 10 minutes to the Cape Neddick Beach, which has very gentle waves and is perfect for kids swimming. You are also a quick drive from either the beaches and entertainment in York or the shopping and sailing in Ogunquit. We were able to play on 4 different beaches during our stay. The house had everything we needed to cook for lots of people and the yard provides a great spot for the kids to kick a soccer ball around when they aren't playing hide and seek. The owners are great and can provide anything you might need that isn't there. We just left and already can't wait to plan our return next summer.
The location of this house was perfect for us. Walking distance to a sand beach with zero crowds (no parking, but is only 0.3 miles from the house on paved road) and views of Nubble Light. Also steps to a beach of surf tumbled stones that is quiet and peaceful. You can see and hear the ocean from all rooms in the house.
The layout of the house was also perfect for us... "5" bedrooms, split up amongst the different levels. The bottom bedroom that is used as a 5th bedroom does not have a door, but it is downstairs from the main level so was private enough. The bunk room is off of this room so was perfect for my brother, his wife and their 2 little ones. The house itself is very, very dated and needs quite a bit of TLC. The carpets are stained and the furniture very dated and worn. This didn't bother us much but for someone looking for a nicer home with newer furnishings and upkeep, this may be an issue. The house itself was very clean, just older. It's a funky, cool "Frank Lloyd Wright-esque" style house that we really appreciated and loved! . The decks were very worn and splintery, we had to make sure the kids all had shoes on when they went out there. The uppermost deck, which would have provided panoramic views, is locked and closed off (maybe due to damage/safety??), which was a bit disappointing as that would have been the most scenic area of the house by far. The upper loft has amazing views, and is separate from the rest of the house. Our teenage nephew loved this as his space and set up an air mattress up there. It is perfect for older kids!
Owners live next door and were very helpful with a couple of issues we had during the week, and fixed things immediately. They also brought over a baby gate for the stairs. It's pretty easy to "baby proof" the place with one kid gate at the stairs in the main level. From there the round staircase goes up and down.
A few things missing in the kitchen: blender, pizza cutter, cheese grater... there were basic things like pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. but not much in the way of specialty items. The ice maker and water on the fridge is broken, so bring your own bag of ice or use the trays provided.
Overall we loved it here! Only took of a star for the condition of the home (outdated) but would definitely rent again next year! We had so much fun here, thanks for sharing!
Our family sought a pet friendly vacation rental in Southern Maine, and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. They said okay to three (well behaved) cats! Unfortunately, we ran into some scheduling issues on our end and have had to change our plans. But I wanted to be certain that I shared just how kind and cooperative the owners were to us. We hope to try again next year. Many thanks!
