Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed 7 nights and we were delighted with the house and the property. Complete privacy and tranquil outdoor space with plenty of room for our family of 6 adults plus dog! Living space was perfect, and the evening breeze cooled the ground floor bedroom with no ceiling fan. Sunsets spectacular. Encounters with swans while canoeing..magical!

Great cottage for 3 or less people

  • 2 of 5

The cottage has a great open concept layout and the location is great. We would not go back, however, due to the fact that the two downstairs bedrooms were so musty. The dehumidifier in one of the bedrooms was required to be on at all times but that made the room very hot and noisy and didn't seem to help the moldy smell. I would recommend this property if you just used the upstairs bedrooms.

Owner's Response: One of the downstairs bedrooms has a dehumidifier and an air purifier that we request be left on for the guest's comfort. It's simply an extra room if guests need it, but there are 3 other lovely bedrooms.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Just what we were looking for in a country cottage. The beds were comfortable and overall it was a clean, cozy cottage. We liked that it is located on a private lane way close to Sandbanks.

Quiet spot but some hidden negatives.

  • 2 of 5

My girlfriends and i went to PEC for the weekend and found this charming cottage on West Lake. Fantastic location to get to all the little towns (8-15mins away from Wellington, Bloomfeild, Picton) Lovely property but not what the photos led us to believe. The cottage is on swamp land/river that leads into the lake, you cant actually see the lake but you can see the trailer park adjacent to the property. The cottage property had lots of space and some beautiful large trees on it. The cottage its self was a great size, nice open concept with a few updates. Bathroom was clean and tidy and the hot water was great. The kitchen had very basic (old/worn) cooking tools, dishwasher didn't work, the fridge froze all our vegetables and all round is in need of a facelift. All the bedrooms where very cold but they provided heaters which was good. The master bedroom and the bedroom off the living room had nice-ish linens but the third bedroom off the coatroom was a drab catch-all. The doors on the closet in the bedroom off the living room where broken and falling off. All in all this property has some real potential but is in need of a little fixing up and TLC. I wanted to share my thoughts and wanted to share about the exterior property.

Owner's Response: In November, the leaves are off the trees and the water levels of the lake are low due to annual lake drainage (Fall thru Spring). Our waterfront is perfect for boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing but it is not swimmable (as mentioned in our listing). All of our cottage photos were taken in 2014 and the cottage looks exactly as it is presented during peak season (Summer).
