The two acre- property is nestled on the corner next to an 800 acre, third-generation family farm. The Red Barn is adjacent to our home and is located off a quiet country road. From the large private deck you can enjoy excellent wildlife and bird viewing including large herds of whitetail and mule deer grazing, wild turkeys, geese, and songbirds. Swans and bald eagles frequent the area as well. The farm is also home to an occasional moose, elk, bear, fox, coyote, and mountain lion. The deck is also the best view of the beautiful mountain waterfall in addition to views of the entire Swan Mountain Range and the Badrock Canyon leading to Glacier National Park.

We think the Red Barn @ Glacier Mountain Country is the perfect spot to launch your Glacier Park adventure or Northwest Montana vacation. We look forward to hearing from you. Please let us know if we can answer any questions you have about our property or your vacation planning.
Casey and I were both born and raised in Northwest Montana. In fact, I was raised right on the adjacent family farm. After going to college and living in Oregon, we moved home to raise our children in this idyllic setting. After 14 years as a high school English teacher I now manage the property, work as an interior designer and enjoy being mom. Casey works for a technology company . We love to ski, snowshoe, kayak, bike, hike, camp, swim, boat, fish, and of course, take in the views- particularly from our back yard. Our girls are delightful and the best adventure yet. They are definitely farm girls. We also own two lovable labs named Cedar and CoCo. According to the reviews, the dog steals the show. We also raise chickens and a huge garden. We keep our pigs on the farm so you won't have to smell them!
Alyson Dorr purchased this barn in 2006
We think the Flathead is the ideal place to live and work, and while we have both traveled extensively across the globe, no wanderlust makes us question calling this our home. As we travel, we look for unique places to stay - we believe the places and people we've met on our adventures are as important as the places we've seen. We've work hard to put that thought into the details of the Red Barn - so that your stay with us will be a part of your visit to Montana, not just a place you've slept.
We built this property, including the guest house -we invite you to be our guest. We offer to you our wonderful retreat and the inside scoop on what to do and where to go in the Flathead. We look forward to hearing from you.
Having been raised on the family farm, we built the Red Barn to incorporate all the things we love about rural Montana farm life while also maintaining luxury standards we expect when we travel. Beyond the amenities of our property, what really makes the Red Barn a unique stay is the connection to nature you will feel while you are here. In the spring and early summer you can literally hear the water plummeting from the mountain. As a frequent visitor to Glacier Park, I have continue to see more wildlife off the back deck, than on the trails in the Park. At the same time, the property has all the modern conveniences, is impeccably clean and is perfectly situated as a base camp for year-round adventures in the Flathead Valley.
One of the most beautiful, relaxing places in the West. The Red Barn is a 1,000 fully appointed apartment with two spacious bedrooms, large bathroom with W+D, gourmet kitchen, dining room, living room with big screen TV (that we hardly watched), every window has a view of something gorgeous with a huge deck overlooking acres of fields full of wildlife and a ridge that swoops down to the entrance of Glacier National Park. Close to Kalispell, Columbia Falls, White Fish with lakes, trams to the top of Big Mountain (do the luge) and 15 minutes from the West entrance of Glacier National Park. We can't wait to return. Thanks to Casey and Alyson for allowing us and friends Dave & Sue to be the first official guest. And they are Corban alums, even better yet!.
Staying at the Red Barn is like staying at home...the home I never had. Anything you can find at home, you can find at the Red Barn...only better. Alyson has thought of it all. From the complementary MT coffee (which is some of the best coffee I've tasted) to the walk-in closet, not a stone has been left unturned.
The Barn is beautifully decorated - I felt like I was stepping into the pages of an interior decorating magazine. But there's a coziness, warmth and elegance to it that draws you in. Loved the "Montana"-themed touch to the house. Incredibly well-stocked, you'll want for nothing. In very close proximity to Glacier National Park, the Red Barn is the perfect base for enjoying the park, Polebridge and Whitefish (my new favorite town!)
Some days it was a literal toss up between staying in and hanging out at the Barn, or going out and doing what I came to do - hike. All I wanted to do was stay in and savor the extreme coziness and comfort of the Barn. I loved watching the sun rise in the morning, sometimes even spotting a deer or two in the field. Sunsets here are beyond magnificent.
I truly could not have asked for a better place to stay. I was beyond happy here; in fact I'd come visit Montana again just so I could stay at the Red Barn. Leaving was hard. Glacier was an incredibly memorable trip, and the Red Barn a wonderful part of that experience. Truly THE BEST vacation rental I've ever stayed in. I can't wait to come back.
The Red Barn was a perfect home away from home for our vacation. The location was great for visiting GNP, whitefish/big mountain, Columbia Falls, and Kalispell. All of the homey touches didn't go unnoticed. The fully stocked kitchen, the delicious complimentary huckleberry jam and Montana Coffee Traders coffee, the plush bedding, and the binder and crates full of information/suggestions about the area were all greatly appreciated. If we ever get to vacation in this area again we wouldn't hesitate to book The Red Barn. We didn't want to leave!
The Red Barn added so much to our first visit to Glacier National Park , Montana! It was clean, uniquely decorated and located in prime proximity to everything, yet isolated for sweet tranquility. The Red Barn was so spacious for our family of 4, very comfortable! A lot of amazing memories!
We did travel with two kids, and, honestly, I can't imagine a better accommodation in this area.
The owners did really good job maintaining this place.
The Red Barn is a perfect place just near 10 min from the West entrance to Glacier Park and at the same time very close to Columbia Falls.
Definitely we recommend this place
We had a great time here! Montana is beautiful and we found this the PERFECT location. Its extremely central to everything but still felt peaceful and quiet at night. The barn was well decorated and well stocked. The hosts were very thoughtful-- my husband was ALL ABOUT that jelly and we appreciated coffee and other staples around.
The pictures are great but in person, its even cuter.
I'm extremely big on having clean places to stay and this place was very clean. Linens and the bed were very clean and comfortable. The view and property are very nice.
Alyson was great to work with from booking to actual arrival. She gave recommendations on things to do and answers to all of my silly questions during planning.
Our only improvement to the house related to the unseasonably warm weather (80s/90s) the week we were there making the cabin very hot. I know its uncommon to have ac and rarely needed … in this case a window unit for the bedroom for such occasions would have been nice to have on hand. I know this is not a fault of the hosts-- there were fans and we used those combined with opening windows but the house would not cool off much until the middle of the night. That's the only ding to 5 stars... I'd do 4.5 if I could.
This is a great spot and we have already recommended this place to others. Don't hesitate to book now!
The Red Barn was definitely the nicest VRBO we have ever stayed in. the barn had everything we needed, was comfortable, homey, and very pleasing. We spent a lot of time at Glacier National part which was only a 15-20 minute drive, (the main reason we went) but I feel like I could have easily stayed at the Barn and enjoyed my trip as much. I hope to be able to go back. There is so much to do there, it is beautiful country. The hosts, Allyson and Casey were so hospitable and their girls were fun too. It was peaceful, beautiful, relaxing and still had all the comforts of home. My girls wanted to stay and call it their apartment.
