A Most Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just completed a 6 night, 7 day stay at Kona Reef unit D 27 and we have to say, this was our most memorable time in Hawaii; 10 visits over the past 9 years. Upon arrival to the property, we turned down Kahakai Rd and immediately had stunning views of the ocean. The property itself was clean and the grounds were nicely maintained. Parking was plentiful as there was both covered and uncovered parking. Unit D 27, which was on the 3rd floor, could be accessed by elevator and stairs. Upon entering, the unit was bright, airy, clean, and inviting. It appeared to have new tile flooring throughout (including the lanai), new paint, and a completely remodeled bathroom. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessary cookware and utensils. The dining room table seated four and the living room had a sleeper sofa. The bedroom was spacious and had a new king size bed that was comfortable; this was a plus as my husband is 6'1". I've saved the best for last, the lanai. The lanai is the real beauty of this unit, which has with a wall-to-wall/floor-to-ceiling sliding patio door that opened to a stunning view of lava rocks that rolled right into the ocean!!! My husband and I spent many hours on the lanai relaxing and soaking in the waves, ocean, and sun. The lanai was always our first stop in the morning and our last stop in the evening. We just could not get enough of it! The big plus we had was that the summer solstice began on June 21st and the waves just got bigger and louder; it was truly amazing, the best real life TV show! We cooked breakfast on five of our days, made dinner once, and we always sat out on the lanai as we wanted to enjoy the view! I'd also like to talk about the prime location of the property itself. Kona Reef is a 7-8 minute walk to all the shops, restaurants, and tourist activities located on Ali'i Dr. We spent the first four nights of our stay walking to all the restaurants Ali'i Dr. had to offer and had ocean front dining every night! If I had to make any suggestions regarding D 27, it would be to invest in blackout curtains for the bedroom cause when the sun comes up in the morning, and it comes up early, it is very bright. I would also suggest adjusting the TV settings to allow access to the internet as the TV is an internet ready TV and loaded with apps such as Netflix and Hulu. This would allow guests with Netflix or Hulu accounts to watch movies and not rent DVD's. Other than that, this was a perfect stay!

Fantastic view of ocean in clean cozy condo

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Dan's condo. The photos accurately described the unit. It was immaculately clean and well-kept, with an updated bathroom. The furnishing were comfortable--especially the fantastic king bed with luxury bedding. A highlight was the wonderful lanai directly facing the ocean. We spend many hours relaxing there with a view of the sea and surfers and the sunsets. The location was excellent--within a five minute walk to restaurants, shops, and bars. The unit was quiet, although there was some street noise as we kept the windows open for the breeze at night. So many conveniences--free easy parking, the washer and dryer, pool and spa, and wifi. We appreciate that the condo was well-stocked with many items such as paper goods, dish soap, plastic wrap, beach towels, etc.

It shows that the owners take great care with the unit and we truly appreciate the effort. Thanks so much!

Five Star plus lots more!

I spent 2 weeks here and did not want to leave. They have added a king size bed and the place was immaculate. The condo had all the supplies for everyday living and cooking was easy with the spices available and the wounderful BBQ's.

It is very close to town and all amedaties are within walking distance. This has been the nicest place I have spent time in and will refer it to friends and family. I can't wait to return.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a wonderful month at Kona Reef. It is in an ideal location – on the ocean, just off Alii Drive, on the south end of the business district. Numerous restaurants, shops, the market, some historical sites, and water activities are within walking distance. Parking is free. A large covered bbq area with tables and chairs and a pool and hot tub with lots of seating are in the gated part.

The owner of the condo, was great to deal with. Prior to arrival and a couple of times during our stay, he emailed us upcoming events in the area. When we needed to communicate with him, he replied quickly by email or by calling the condo.

This unit is directly ocean front. We spent countless hours on the lanai: mornings drinking our Kona coffee and eating fresh papaya from the market; daytimes watching all the action on the water – swimmers, surfers, paddle boarders, boogie boarders, boats, dolphins and a couple of times we spotted turtles feeding and whales spouting; and evenings watching the sunset and eating. The outdoor furniture on the lanai was excellent – bar height table with comfortable high top chairs.

The unit is very clean and has nice décor and furniture – a dining table, couch and chair, tv (we never used them) and a desk in the main living area. Other plusses included free good working internet and free long distance calling N. American wide. The kitchen isn’t huge, but satisfies the needs with all the appliances and gadgets and an abundance of dishes and plastic ware. There is an air conditioner in the main living area, but we never used it, preferring to use ceiling fans and let the trade winds blow.

The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with good water pressure. The vanity, although not big, was enough for our toiletries. Plenty of towels (with good absorbency) were supplied.

Washer and dryer in the unit was a huge bonus.

The bedroom had a very comfortable queen-sized bed (owner mentioned a king-sized bed is coming soon), a ceiling fan, 2 dressers, 2 night tables and a large closet. It was great to have lots space to put our things. Although the bedroom is on the parking lot end, we were rarely disturbed by noises.

Unexpected, but greatly appreciated extras included – hand soap, shower wash, laundry soap, dish soap, dishwasher soap, and toilet paper.

There were so many positives for this unit that I probably forgot some, but know it is truly a home away from home. We are hooked and already booked for next year! Thanks Dan!

Beautiful Condo with the most stunning views

  • 5 of 5

The owners are a pleasure to deal with contacted us first day to make sure everything was good. They also were very quick to answer any of our questions and gave us some wonderful ideas of things we might like to do. They were a pleasure to deal with.

We had a beautiful 21 days in this condo. It has everything and more to make your stay very comfortable . Even fold up chairs and a cooler to take when we went hiking and for our ocean view picnics. This was our first time to Kona on the big island but we absolutely enjoyed it , so many things to do and see. We liked it so much we are planning to come back next year unfortunately we could not get this unit for next year so if you are interested book early you won't be disappointed. We rarely ate out at restaurants as we seemed to rush back to the condo to barbaque and watch the most beautiful sunsets from the lanai and watch the Dolphins and surfers in the high wave. We have travelled to many warm weather destinations but this is one of our favorite.
