Hale Inana -House of life

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,800 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Three bedrooms, Two baths

Custom designed by one of Hawaii's foremost architects, George Hogan, Hale 'Inana (House of Life) is a delightful Craftsman style classic beach cottage offering gorgeous ocean views.

The house sits behind stone walls and back away from a narrow entrance along Kamehameha Highway, fanning out to 120 feet of ocean frontage along the beautiful white sands of Hukilau Beach. Hogan-designed homes are famous for offering the best of Hawaii's indoor/outdoor island lifestyle, and this home is a stunning example of that design philosophy. It features a large protected deck that leads into an open and breezy great room.

Hale 'Inana has three bedrooms, two baths, and sleeps eight.

The master bedroom upstairs has its own bath and a balcony that looks out over 180° of blue Hawaiian ocean. The two bedrooms downstairs are split into an ocean-side room with a king-sized bed, and a mountain-side room with four twin beds that are perfect for children of all ages.

In August, 2014, a complete renovation of the kitchen was completed, featuring copper sinks, a custom local mangowood counter, and beautiful new tile. The tile extends into the hallway, the two downstairs bedrooms, and the downstairs bathroom, which was largely renovated at the same time.

Laie is a quiet corner of Oahu, very different from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, but keeping the conveniences of supermarkets, medical facilities, cinemas, and restaurants. Hale 'Inana sits a few short minutes’ walk from the main shopping center, and within easy driving of the golf and resort amenities of the Turtle Bay Resort. Keep driving north and you’ll soon come to the world-famous Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, Banzai Pipeline, and the historic town of Haleiwa.

One last note. We list this property on VRBO and other sites on the Homeaway network (homeaway). We do not list in classifieds or Craigslist. If you have seen our house in a classified ad or on Craigslist, someone is trying to steal your money, and that would make us all sad. :-( To stay safe, only book here at VRBO, Homeaway or our website called The Northshore Oceanfront Collection. Mahalo!

Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

The location of the house is perfect. It's right in the beach, and it is such a pretty beach; no crowds, white sand, and beautiful nature views. We were there in January and the surfed on the beach directly behind the house ranged from good boogie boarding waves for the kids to calm enough to snorkel. The deck is huge, and having a private yard with space is great for the kids. As other reviewers state, being right in the main road is no issue at all with the gate, it is truly a private, quaint, ideal beach retreat.

The layout of the house was great for our group of 7, which included grandparents, parents, and 3 kids ages 9, 7, and 5. Both of the king bedrooms have amazing views of the beach and the ocean sound at night with the windows open is wonderful. The twin bedroom worked well for our kiddos. The views from the kitchen, living room, and dining room make the price a bargain, they really are as spectacular as the pictures show.

We also really liked being in Laie, a little away from the bustle of Honolulu. It was easy to get down there for Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, and Hanauma Bay; but also good for getting up to the North Shore. It really was a perfect vacation, and we would definitely stay here again!!

Phenomenal Experience

  • 5 of 5

The Hale Inana - House of Life is an outstanding jewel in paradise. Our experience was one of peace and serenity for our two couples, and the location was ideally suited for adventure as well. The beach is only a few steps away, the lanai is a perfect hangout to enjoy the trade breezes and ocean sounds, and this beachfront home shows quality craftmanship customized for this unique million-dollar setting. Amenities are within walking or a short driving distance, and include Foodland, the Polynesian Culture Center, highly-rated restaurants of all varieties, and close proximity to the adventures of the North Shore of Oahu. It was almost as if we had a private beach as the passing visitors were few. If the nights feel too humid or warm, each of the bedrooms has air conditioning to guarantee a comfortable sleep. I highly recommend this home as a vacation spot that easily can house two couples plus 4 others with plenty of room for comfort. The placement of an orange cone at the driveway entrance was very helpful in finding the gateway beyond the stone wall that removed you from the sounds of the Kam Highway.

Amazing trip to Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

Our amazing trip to Oahu included an 8 night stay at Hale Inana in Laie. We absolutely loved our trip and loved our stay at this beautiful house. The location is perfect. We spent our early mornings and late evenings sitting out on the deck enjoying the sound of the waves and the wonderful breeze blowing in off of the ocean. The home was very clean and the outdoor showers were very nice. Being located on the main highway was no problem at all, as once you close the gate, you would have no idea the road was even there. Best of all, the closeness to the beach was so nice. Morning walks on the beach, afternoons swimming in the ocean and evenings enjoying the beautiful colors in the sky from the sunsets. I would highly recommend staying here. The closeness to the LDS Temple was great for us as well as the closeness of all the sights around the north shore area of Oahu.

Wonderful week at Hale Inana

  • 5 of 5

We were a extended family of eight spending several days in Waikiki and a week in Laie at Hale Inana.

This home is ideal and we couldn't be happier with our stay. The home is furnished very nicely with all the amenities you could want, including nice linens and towels. Kitchen is great with everything you would will need to cook up a nice meal. Large wrap around deck provides great area to sit and relax while watching the ocean, which is just steps away. Great grass lawn in front of house for kids to play and space to park your car. Plenty of extra chairs and beach toys to use on the side of the house along with two outdoor showers for cleaning off the sand after a day at the beach was really nice. So close to everything on the North Shore I highly recommend Hale Inana. We will be back for sure. Mahalo Patrick

Amazing vacation experience!

  • 5 of 5

We spent an amazing week at Hale Inana and I can't say more good things about our experience. The house is a great layout and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay (there were 4 adults and 2 children). We appreciated the beach chairs, beach toys, plenty of towels, board games and interesting books too! The location is ideal, we absolutely loved the north shore and would highly recommend staying there. The sunrises were amazing and the beach was fantastic! Hardly anyone there ever and the water was so warm. We even saw a few turtles swimming nearby! I'd highly recommend snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, swimming at the waterfall in Waimea falls, and spending a day at the Polynesian Cultural center. We spent our last night in Waikiki and we were all missing the beach house so much. This is the way to go over a cramped hotel in the busy city. I will always remember waking up early and sitting on the back porch watching the sunrises. A truly unforgettable experience.

Pat (the property manager) was great too. He was very helpful and our deposit check was here within a week of getting back :)

Aloha until next time!!

the most perfect vacation yet

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of seven. We spent a glorious week at this property and could not have improved on our experience there except that we wished we could have stayed another week! There is plenty of room for a group to spread out but also much space to spend time together. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed. Our favorite place to spend time other than the beach was on the wrap around deck. Also a huge favorite of the kids were the outdoor showers, what a wonderful idea for a beach property! The home feels very private, once we closed the front gates, the outside world was gone. Thank you for such a wonderful family vacation spot. We hope to return as soon as we can!
