Central City/Garden District Estate Rental Photos and Description

4 bedroom, 4.5 baths, 2 kitchens, grand dining hall, billiard room

***THIS PROPERTY IS NOT AVAILABLE AS AN EVENT RENTAL***

The owner is not renting this property pending passage of New Orleans rules on the subject and/or the outcome of pending litigation.

4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, 2 kitchens, grand dining hall, billiard room, conservatory, and more on 1/2 acre uptown.

This lovely 3 story, 4 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom estate is located in a great part of the Uptown neighborhood just 3 blocks from the Garden District. The Estate is nestled in a wonderful area that is centrally located and is easily accessible to public transportation. The property is 1 block off Magazine Street and 3 blocks from historic St. Charles Avenue and the streetcar line. The property is a quick 3 miles from the French Quarter-Superdome area, Canal Street, and downtown. The 8,000 square foot house (7,000, living space) is on a 1/2 acre of manicured lawns and gardens.

Please note for security reasons we no longer communicate via emails except through the VRBO/Homeaway Site or accept payments except through the VRBO/Homeaway portal.

The original site of the manor house of a large plantation that stretched to the river, it is a Registered National Historic Landmark. Construction on the current home began in 1859. The Civil War interrupted construction. The owner was bankrupt by the end of the war and sold the house to another party, who completed construction in 1865. That owner also over-speculated, and in the 1870s sold the home to the City of New Orleans as a refuge for widows and orphans. During this time, the house was used as an asylum and remained in that capacity for the next 100 years. The house was turned back into a private residence in 1973, and has remained privately owned since. It is a previous winner of the Special Honor Award by the New Orleans Landmarks Association.

The home is a great example of an Italianate raised villa. The home is 3 stories with a luxurious master suite on the top floor including several sitting areas and a large master ensuite bath with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower and steam room. The main floor includes a chef's kitchen with an intimate kitchen dining area for 6, another master bed and bath suite (and library), billiard room, music room, 1.5 baths and a magnificent grand dining hall that seats 22 to 24 comfortably. The bottom floor, features two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a very large kitchen, dining area, laundry room and living room. . Both bedrooms on the ground floor have in suite bathrooms with full baths and showers, one with jacuzzi tub.

The estate includes use of 2 outdoor courtyards where you can unwind and enjoy the beautifully manicured grounds and fountains. We offer gated off street parking for up to four cars, open air, with remote entrance. The entire house rents for a minimum rate of $925 per night, with minimum nightly stays and rates varying based on season (for instance Mardi Gras is $1500 per night, 5 night minimum). Discounts are available for weekly and monthly rentals.

This is a quiet residential area and respect for the neighbors is at a premium.

Wedding paradise

Overall the stay was very enjoyable (Property location, size of dinning room, outside patios, convenience of kitchens, bedrooms with attached bath, size of built-in cold space in main kitchen, kitchen wares, barbecue grill, ...).

Perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

This property was the ideal location for our small wedding. We had several friends stay at the villa with us. The house had everything we needed and was able to comfortably accommodate our group. The kitchen was huge. The patios were lovely and lush. The location was close to several great shops and restaurants. The host was incredibly responsive. We hope to stay here again for our anniversary!

Weekend Group bachelor/bachelorette

  • 5 of 5

Lance was amazing!!!! He was easy to work with and so friendly. He made sure I had nothing to stress about and that everything will turn out great. The house is beautiful and big enough for a lot of people. We loved the fact that you weren't right up next to someone and could just have a fun time. My guests loved this place and it isn't but maybe a 5 minute drive to bourbon street. Great places to shop and eat in walking distance as well. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE STAYING HERE AGAIN. :) I LOOOOVED IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH LANCE :)

Large house was ideal for reunion

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for a reunion in New Orleans of a Christian fellowship from the 1970s. We had eight people staying at the house, but could easily have had more. The house was an ideal headquarters for the reunion, including a professional kitchen and dining room table around which we were able to get all 29 guests. The host also provided a piano to accompany singing, there was a comfortable lounge downstairs and a patio with chairs and a table. The house is too large for the casual use of a single family, but is very nice for larger groups. The master bedroom suite on the third floor is enormous and very well equipped. The location is also very good, being just a few blocks from the streetcars and in one of the safer areas of the city.

Uptown Dream 100%

  • 5 of 5

The house could not have been more perfect for our bachelorette party weekend. As we arrived the bride was squealing with delight. (The pictures do not do it justice)

Accommodating all the girls + everyone's needs is nearly impossible and the home was spacious enough to do just that. Quiet for the sleepers, lively on the porch, and everything in between.

Most of all the owner made the stay that much more enjoyable. The personal touches, incredible communication, and local recommendations... really was icing on the cake. Highly recommend for any out-of-towners!
