Castro Valley Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Castro Valley, California Vacation Rental, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, 2 Sleeps

Castro Valley is a friendly, peaceful unincorporated town, populated by about 60,000 people, and located in the heart of the Greater Bay Area of Northern California. It is a 'bedroom community' nestled in a valley surrounded by rolling hills just 25 miles and 30 minutes southeast of San Francisco.

This guest apartment caters to those looking for stays of at least one week or longer. It is a 500-square foot, second-level apartment attached to a single-family home and is accessed via its own private entrance and deck. The home is located atop a hill in a quiet neighborhood on the north side of Castro Valley and looks out on a natural setting of pine trees and ivy often visited by a family of 'resident' deer.

It has been completely renovated/redecorated with new paint, carpeting, tile, laminate flooring and fixtures throughout. The light-filled apartment features a large leather sectional with seating for 5, a glass-topped cafe table for 4 with matching Baker's rack, an entertainment center with a 32' flat screen TV and a DVD player. Free WiFi is available upon request.

The full-kitchen offers a refrigerator, microwave oven, stove, dishwasher, and is set-up for light housekeeping with dishes, glasses, cooking and eating utensils and other basic necessities such as coffee, tea, salt and pepper, paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, etc. The queen bedroom is appointed in a lovely Asian theme and has both a dresser and a wall of closet space. The newly tiled bathroom includes a tub/shower combination and a large pedestal sink. All bed and bath linens are provided.

Major Bay Area cities of San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, San Jose, and Walnut Creek are minutes away by car, by bus and by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). Two BART stations are within a 10-minute drive with San Francisco within 30. The Castro Valley Community Center with its large park and play area is within two blocks; the Lake Chabot Recreational Area with fishing, boating, and hiking is one mile away. A variety of shopping opportunities are available as are many restaurants for all tastes.

Please always check the availability calendar first! We try to keep it meticulously up-to-date. Dates are not blocked out and bookings are not final until funds are received and on deposit.

About Linda Cliff

Hello! I am looking forward to welcoming you to my home. The main house was built in 1954 and purchased by my parents the year after. My husband and I moved into my family home a little over 35 years ago and have made many improvements to the house and yard, including this one-bedroom apartment. Over the years it has been used by our sons before (and after) moving out, by friends and relatives for overnight stays to several weeks. It has served as a wonderful guest suite while affording privacy to both our guests and ourselves. Now newly renovated and remodeled, we hope you will enjoy it. Regards, Linda Cliff

Haven away from the crowd

  • 4 of 5

I've booked through VRBO since 2012 both in the U.S. and abroad and have always had a wonderful experience with the homes I have stayed in and the owners I have dealt with. VRBO is my 1st choice when looking for a place to stay because I don't care to stay in hotels so imagine my surprise when I found this lovely rental just a few minutes from my home. I stayed here for a little over 3 weeks while preparing my home for sale and showings to potential buyers. I work nights and wanted my home to be free for viewings during the day but still be close enough to look after it when necessary. This home was the perfect haven away from the madness of all that we went thru during our sale process.

Linda was a friendly and accomodating hostess. Her property is like staying at a beautiful and secluded park. It sits one flight above the main property and looks down on a lovely garden of mature trees and plants. You can walk around the garden and relax in all the different seating areas. It's so quiet and serene. The apartment is very private, clean and attractive in it's decor. It comes well stocked with all the kitchen supplies you'll need to cook and serve meals even a blender for breakfast smoothies. The bathroom is a shower and tub combo. It was so peaceful to relax in a hot bath after a hard day of work. This apartment is perfect for 2 people and is located in a very nice neighborhood in Castro Valley. You'll need a car to get around but shopping and a clean laudromat are located just minutes away. Also worth mentioning is the leather sofa in the living room, it was extremely plush and comfortable that I fell asleep on it many times during our stay. The queen size bed in the separate bedroom was comfortable but a little on the firm side for me. My husband appreciated that though. I've given it 4 stars only due to the noise of a neighbors construction during part of our stay which was beyond the owner's control. We hope to book this rental again when we choose to visit California. It really was a peaceful home away from home. Thank you Linda!

Since this is my hometown I want to mention that the rental is located near beautiful Lake Chabot which is great for biking, hiking, boat rentals, fishing and picnicking. There is also a brand new library and media center near the BART station just a few minutes away. BART will take you all over the Bay Area and San Francisco for sightseeing without having to drive in traffic. You can park there for only $1 a day.

AWESOME quiet amazing wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with VRBO and we were not disappointed. We chose this place because we hoped to find a quiet secluded place to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city as we are from Iowa and we enjoy our quiet. Linda's place exceeded our expectations. I love to cook and the kitchen amenities were superb everything I needed was in this kitchen. We enjoy watching wildlife and the deer are there almost daily for our viewing pleasure. Linda made us feel at home from the very beginning. Everything you want to do is close at hand easily accessible to Bart and San Francisco. We found our treasure trove in Castro Valley. The apartment was clean well equipped and the bed extremely comfortable. We will be back the next time we go the Bay area. We would highly recommend Ms. Linda's VRBO to everyone you won't be disappointed. Linda thanks again for a wonderful stay Warren and Sherry

Outstanding Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful apartment for 2 weeks. The owners, Linda and Don are the nicest people you will ever meet. They will welcome you and make you feel like you are right at home. They are very warm and helpful. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated, super clean and it has everything you can imagine to make your stay very comfortable. I really enjoyed seeing deer in the backyard everyday. Linda even let me feed them everyday! The property is centrally located, close to all the freeways, 15 min. from the Oakland airport, 10 min. from BART stations so you can visit San Francisco without the stress of having to drive in the city, laundromats, super markets, shopping, etc. Of course, there is Lake Chabot 2 min drive from the place with great walking, boating. biking, fishing and beautiful views. If you like hiking you can drive 20 min to Redwood Regional Park and you will be in hiker's heaven. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay and feel right at home, this is the place to be. I will recommend it to all my friends and family, and of course, the next time I go up to that area, I will make sure I stay there.

Castro Valley Hideaway

My stay at the Cliff's was amazing. This apartment has a very nice feel to it. It is comfortable for 1-2 guest. One of the highlights of my stay was seeing the deer come and go. Mrs. Cliff is a great hostess and supplied a number of items in the apartment upon arrival which really came in handy. The Cliff's are really warm and welcoming people which really made my stay very comfortable.

Truely Quiet, Comfortable, and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

Linda and Don have the perfect location for visiting the East Bay Area. The apartment is near the freeway, but in a beautiful, quiet residential area. The kitchen is well supplied and the living area is spacious for two.

We enjoyed the well kept private garden area and the deer who visited daily. Visitors should also enjoy the Oakland Zoo, the sights of the city of San Francisco, and a visit to Berkeley.

Linda and Don are excellent hosts and are most willing to share their perfect getaway.
