Phenomenal vacation spot!
My husband graduated as a State Trooper and we had lots of family flying in from California, Idaho and Washington, so we needed a large home that could comfortably accommodate everyone. The elevator came in handy for our elderly guests (and for hauling luggage around) and having two extra pull-out beds in the game room came in handy. The small red sofas are a twin bed and a double, which are in addition to the king, two queens and a bunk with two full size beds. The large blue sofa downstairs is very comfortable and spacious enough to seat a large number. The hammocks made for perfect napping spots. We all loved having kayaks and bicycles available for our use (although the tandem bicycle needs to be repaired as the handlebar renders it unusable). We had a lovely bonfire right on the water and ate twice at a local restaurant called Hamaknockers BBQ because it was just so darn tasty! There is a small beach just moments away from the home, and Wakulla Springs is just a 25 minute drive inland. The community is full of friendly residents who wave from their golf carts and make small talk with you. If you have the time and want an unusual Florida adventure, drive 1 hr and 45 minutes away to see the Florida Caverns! There are guided tours through beautifully lit limestone caverns (no special gear required) and some nice hiking through the woods if you want to add to the experience. We saw the world's oldest Elm on our little hike. All in all, we had a fantastic stay which made my husband's big day extra special and memorable.
Good house but does not really sleep 14 adults.
Beautiful home. We had 3 adults and 7 kids. Six of the kids are all teenage boys and all at least 5 feet 8 inches. The upstairs beds were all double beds with trundles under 2 of them. Kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to cook.
A perfect holiday home
The facility itself was spacious and immaculate. It had everything we needed for our group, which consisted if 2 families. We enjoyed fishing from the property, bike rides, and kayaking in the cove on days that we stayed here. We also used the home as our 'base' while enjoying towns along the coast. The beach, one street away, was lovely, and the staff there quite friendly and helpful.
Clean, Comfortable, Beautiful Home With a Gulf View
We had a wonderful family vacation in this spacious and comfortable home. Everything that we needed during our stay was available; and the owners were kind and responded right away when contacted. My daughters and I kayaked on the water behind the home, and my parents loved riding the tandem bicycle around Shell Point. We also fished in the water behind the home, and were fortunate to see dolphins come in there to feed on fish! The evenings were peaceful, and on clear nights we felt like we could see every star in the sky from the decks of the home. We traveled to the nearby state parks in the area, including Edward Ball Wakulla State Park, where we took a boat tour of the Wakulla River and saw several manatees and alligators basking in the sun. Overall, we had a very relaxing and wonderful time here. We would definitely stay in this home again-:)
Beautiful with Great Amenities
We were a group of five to seven women depending on the day. There were ample places for us to sleep. Maybe even more importantly, ample bathrooms! The kitchen was so handy to visiting with everyone while prepping, and we loved the large table.
The setting and view was absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately the beach park and beach (within easy walking distance) is closed for renovations (I believe until March). However, there were other ways to walk out to the beach for beach strolls.
Renee and Steve were just a text or email away for a few minor questions that popped up.
Several members of the group shared photos with friends and family who were instantly interested in visiting the property. It's location is definitely a selling point to anyone who is visiting St. Marks and Wakulla area for birding. We made several sightings just looking out at the water. We kept the spotting scope set up in front of the beautiful waterfront windows. But by far the most special visitor was a female kestrel who perched in the live oak tree just to the right of the porch every clear day just as the sky was turning golden.
Kayaks and bikes would likely have been used if it had been a tad warmer. The four of us who kayak all brought our own. One forgot her PFD, so one of the house ones worked perfectly. We set up a jigsaw on the table on level three, and a few of us played pool or arcade games. We only used one of the TVs to watch the Golden Globes, but clearly those who want TVs would have been happy! You can fish or crab off the front yard. There is also a little creek off of nearby Canal Road. We saw schools and schools of some larger fish (eating size!), but we never made it over there to fish.
If traveling in a large group again, I would definitely stay here! Truly beautiful place. We wished we had another week.
This house was perfect setting for our family Christmas get together. We used the grill, large yard for a wiffle ball game, and the pool table. It fit 10 adults very comfortably. The master bedroom is very impressive, all the beds were comfortable and the house was very clean. There is a keurig and regular coffee maker. We cooked many large meals with ease because the kitchen had plenty of kitchen equipment. The best feature was the elevator as it allowed the older adults to avoid the stairs especially in the rain. Overall this house was excellent and we will be booking again in the future.
