Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4).

Chromo Valley get-away! 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4).

If you are looking for peace and quiet – this is the get-away for you! When the elk and deer are in town – sit on the porch and watch them come down to the hay field to feed or the river for a drink.

Have horses – no problem – room to ride on the property; ride from the property to BLM or escape into the National Forest Wilderness Area just a few short miles away. The property has horse friendly fencing, running water and a dry lot for getting your horse(s) off the pastures when they’ve had enough.

Enjoy trout fishing? Fish the Navajo River running through the property or the stocked pond just a stone’s throw from the unit.

Falls are a beautiful time of the year! Crisp mornings, color changes in the aspens and oaks, and migrating elk and deer make this a wonderful season for enjoying the cabin.

Winter is a magical time of the year in the Chromo Valley. We get just enough snow to make the seasonal activities fun and, for the majority of the time, the temps are warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. We have significantly more sunny days than snowy days. Wolf Creek Ski Area, noted for the most powder days in Colorado, is only an hour away and there is plenty of room for cross country skiing, snowshoeing or using your snow mobile.

The unit is located in the Chromo Valley at about 7,400 feet; half way between Pagosa Springs, CO (28 miles) and Chama, NM (21 miles), which enables you enjoy the quiet solitude of a remote destination with a choice of two charming resort towns just ½ hour away.

Perfect vacation location

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is perfectly located for privacy but close enough for pleasant drives into Pagosa Springs. It is also a short drive to Chama to ride on the Cumbres-Toltec Railroad. The cabin is furnished well and is super nice. We loved our stay and would recommend this cabin to anyone traveling in this area.

Really enjoyed our week here. It is secluded which is nice. The house is super. Trout stream on the property was nice, caught some, broke off a giant. I would recommend this place highly

Quality, quiet, river property

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice place. We felt right at home. The kitchen is well equipped and had a very nice stove. We saw elk and lots of birds, being by the river attracted lots of wildlife. Our dogs were welcome and our older dog did well on the stairs, they were not too steep.

Thank you for a great stay!

We really enjoyed this cabin ! It is very nicely decorated, spotless and extremely comfortable. Diane is very helpful and very nice! The plate of treats waiting for us made us feel welcome! We are avid hikers and she helped us with maps and recommendations! We love watching wildlife, on the first day we were able to see deers, elks and even a bear! By the end of our stay the humming birds were eating out of my hand, it was wonderful! The cabin had everything you may need! Just bring your fresh food! It had a better choice of spices then my house! It is more then a cabin! We hope to go back as soon as we can!

Thank you Diane and Joe

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This was absolutely a perfect spot for our family - a toddler, baby, and 2 dogs. We just wanted to get away and enjoy some snow, and this spot far exceeded our expectations...the location is a driveable distance from Texas, and the scenery is so serene and relaxing. The cabin itself was so comfortable, from the sheets to the kitchen, and the tv in both rooms - I think the best was the little hideaway (small room painted beautifully) - my toddler loved it and it kept her entertained for hours. Joe and Diane were so friendly and they even left delicious baked goods and water bottles for us, and were so patient with us when we couldn't decide whether to leave or go when the snow came in! Thanks for such a great vacation!

Fantastic Cabin Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place for our family to stay and get away from it all. The setting is gorgeous. It is ranch land surrounded by mountains, and with it being Fall, it was especially beautiful with the leaves changing color, and perfect weather too. Our boys loved fishing in the pond, throwing rocks into the river, and visiting the horses, all of which are right on the property. We saw elk, deer, and turkeys on the property as well. It was very relaxing. The cabin, (I call it a cabin but it's really much nicer than what I imagine a cabin being) is very comfortable and has everything you need. Diane, the owner, is very friendly and we enjoyed getting to know her and her dog Shadow. I must apologize though, because I forgot to thank her for the delicious peanut buttery chocolate treats and strawberries she had waiting for us on our arrival.

We had a great time and we'd love to return some day. In fact we were trying to figure out how we could live there! If you love the mountains and wildlife and beautiful country, this should be a top consideration.

Chromo Valley get-away! 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4).

Enjoy trout fishing? Fish the Navajo River running through the property or the stocked pond just a stone’s throw from the unit.

The 1,000 square foot apartment is 2 bedrooms, 1 bath up-stairs with a second full bath downstairs; all tastefully decorated and in excellent condition. It offers two bedrooms with queen beds. A full kitchen, living room, and eating area round out the upstairs living area. The unit is located in the Chromo Valley at an elevation of 7,400 feet; half way between Pagosa Springs, CO (28 miles) and Chama, NM (21 miles), which enables you enjoy the quiet solitude of a remote destination with a choice of two charming resort towns just ½ hour away.

Perfect year-round destination! The local valley offers National Forest and Wilderness access for hiking, horse-back riding, ATV’ing and snowmobiling (no motorized vehicles in the Wilderness area, of course). Plenty of wildlife to see, streams and rivers to fish, mountains to climb and trails to explore. Sorry, no hunting on the property – the wildlife are for viewing (and picture taking) only.

Looking for a trip to town…

Pagosa Springs is a magical place to visit any time of year. In the spring, summer and fall, choose from rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing and hot air ballooning just to name a few. The Pagosa Springs Hot Springs are open year round offering a full range of spa services. Pagosa Springs offers restaurants, a movie theater, the Thingamajig Theatre Company (a small theatrical outfit), golf, the Red Ryder Rodeo, local music and festivals.

Chama is a little more rustic but offers its own charm and beauty. Historic Chama is not a single place, but a diverse valley region stretching south from the Colorado border to the Tierra Amarillo Valley and down to Abiquiu, New Mexico, famous for its art treasures...

Take the Chama train for a scenic tour through picturesque mountains and gorges, sample genuine local New Mexican cuisines, enjoy unique cultural events and shop for colorful artisan wares. For the history buff, art lover, nature enthusiast and cultural explorer, the Rio Chama Valley offers boundless opportunities.

In the winter months, there is skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, tubing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, ice-fishing and cross-country skiing to enjoy. You can take a 52 mile drive to Wolf Creek Ski Resort for the best powder skiing in Colorado, ½ hour ride to Pagosa Springs or Chama, or you can take advantage of the quiet solitude of the Chromo Valley for your winter activities.

The unit is furnished with bed linens, blankets, towels, fully equipped kitchen (including pots, pans, dishes, utensils) featuring; a coffee maker, bean grinder, blender, crock pot, toaster oven, microwave as well as fridge, oven, stove, dishwasher and garbage disposal plus a washer and dryer. The dining table seats six and there are three barstools at the breakfast nook as well. To make your stay more enjoyable, there are 2 TV's (a 46' flat screen in the living room and a 26' in the master bedroom). The living room TV has a DVD player. If desired, you can request a Wii console, with two controllers. We have some games but you can pack your own games and you are all set! An assortment of games, puzzles and books are available for you to enjoy. There is also a stereo system with AM/FM, CD and an iPod docking station.

We offer complimentary long distance service within the continental US with DSL and WiFi access so you can keep in touch with your friends, family and the office.

We tried to make this your home away from home, so all the little touches are available for your use; an iron and board, hairdryer, flashlights, candles, snow shovels and ice scrapers to name a few. After a long day of enjoying all the area has to offer, sit on the deck and enjoy the wildlife and scenery, play a board game, read a book, watch a movie, drop into town for a nice dinner or just sit back and relax. Please note the unit does not have A/C – however, it would be an exception that you would need it.

Be sure to ask about our referral program and discounted rates for your return visits. We look forward to welcoming you as our guests. Security Deposits are refunded within 14 days of departure, provided you treat the unit with care and leave in the pristine condition that it was found.
