Our stay in NYC!
The pictures of this cute rental are very accurate. All of our needs were met during our stay in the apartment. We found the location to be very convenient to the subway, a small market, and a coffee shop. The interior of the apartment was sparkling clean, and the window a/c unit in the living room, and the fan in the bedroom kept the space nicely cooled. Temps were not super hot during our visit, but we did get warm outside in the afternoons and it was nice to be able to cool down after a big day in the city. We did a little cooking (breakfast) and that was nice to be able to do that before heading out each day. The coffee pot was a small one, but we were happy to spend our dollars locally at the coffee shop (Dear Mama) just a few doors down, and get our morning coffee there. It was a great stay, thank you!
A New York Experience
We were looking for a nice little NY apartment for a quick four night stay and this place matched everything for us. We were a party of three and had no issues with the apartment or location.
It’s just ok...
I would first like to say that JT was very quick to respond to anything that we needed. When we arrived to the airport, I called him and he told me to call when we arrive at 110th subway station. When we arrived he mentioned that he had an emergency and he would send someone over to meet us and explain everything to us, which did happen!
Later that night it was very cold and the heater was not working at all. The apartment was freezing. I reached out to him and he mentioned that they were working on the boiler and it should have been fix, which it was not. JT mentioned that there was a heater in the closet and we could use that. We turned it on, however we were still freezing. We tried taking a shower and the water went from steaming to freezing cold( I guess it had something to do with the boiler). I did ask if he could bring another heater and it was brought.
JT then sent a message the next morning stating that they were still working on the boiler and he apologized. I must say that night was much better, the boiler was fixed thank GOD!!! Keep in mind it gets VERY hot 🥵 once the heat come on.
The third night we noticed several baby roaches crawling around. Something to keep in mind, when booking. This is not what I am use to.
Other things to know about the apartment:
1. It’s not brand new, it may be renovated.
2. 3rd floor walk up, so pack light.
3. Needs updated linen/comforter.
4. The apartment only has one push in lock, didn’t really feel safe.
5. The front door to the building was locked the first night, but the other night there was tape holding the lock back, which allowed anyone to come in.
Overall, not a bad place but I will not stay there again.
I'll just say that unfortunately the boiler broke down, which can happen every now and very long while (like everything else). It was serviced the following morning and the following day. In the mean time I have electric heaters in the apt just in case something happen. When I came the heater was on set to work on 90 degrees so although it wasn't 90 in the apt (thank God otherwise it was a saune inside) it was far from freezing.
As for the floor of the apt and the lock i never had problem and/or complaints so I'm not sure where does it come from or what to say.......
Lastly, there's a biweekly extermination service in the building and if a random insect is flying In, usually due to a open window, especially now when the weather is getting warmer there's not much to do.. Again, I think so many guests and reviews that never had a problem like this is the best answer.
Great home away from home.
I thoroughly enjoyed a six-night stay in early January 2019. The apartment is exactly as depicted in the pictures -- new, clean, comfortable, with all the comforts of home. It's conveniently located within walking distance of the subway, supermarkets, eateries, and Central Park. Property manager JT was very accommodating and made my stay very enjoyable.
JT´s place is very cozy ideal for 2 people, heating worked great, wifi was fast, overall we had nice stay and the neighborhood is fine, quiet. Subway is about 8 minute walk. Also the kitchen is well equiped, we was able to prepare christmas dinner there with no prob.
Great place and location just no ‘nice to haves’
Good sized one bedroom apartment close to the NE corner of Central Park. Bus stop close by and just blocks away from the subway. Clean and welcoming and JT was a great host for checking in with us during our stay. I’ve stayed in other VRBOs (not in NYC) and this one had the least amount of ‘nice to haves’ which was fine but sometimes inconveniencing. Only mirror was in the bathroom which made it difficult for more than 1 person to get ready at a time. No luggage racks or low furniture so had to keep everything on the floor. Pretty much zero consumables so had to go purchase all toiletries and seasoning for minor cooking. Things like that make a VRBO standout and more of a 5 star experience but overall would stay here again.
