About Vicki Cochran

I fell in love with the log cabin. I remodeled the entire place and have my stained glass studio on half of the enclosed porch. I would be willing to teach you how to do stained glass while you are there if wanted.

Vicki Cochran purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Vicki Cochran chose Michigan

Houghton Lake features all the best of lake living. It has a sandy botttom, great fishing, you can drive by boat to many of the resturants, has spots where people gather and is large enough to be by yourself, whatever you prefer!

What makes this cabin unique

This is your up north log cabin cottage. It is cozy and warm and makes you want to stay. It is on a quiet very private street but is within walking distance to a resturant, bar, and gas station, which also features a ice cream store inside!

Very cozy

The cabin was perfect in every way the décor the setting beautiful my wife and I needed a getaway and sometimes it's just hard with our schedules. We needed to unplug and relax the owner of the cabin thought of everything plus some, we didn't have to worry about anything other than our meals . we enjoyed drinking wine by the fire and talking we play regular games to relax and interact, with each other something we don't get to really do much. The sunset was beautiful over the snow covered lake. I look forward to enjoying the cabin again hopefully before it sells, I will say that the pictures you have posted just doesn't capture the beauty of this place it is a must see and well worth every penny..... Thank you for allowing us the privilege to relax and reconnect

Everything you would want for a romantic get-away was there during our stay. Fully equipped kitchen, firewood, music selection, comfortable sleeping. Vicki is a great host. She answered all questions IMMEDIATELY via email. Couldn't ask for a better host! We definitely plan on returning.

Perfect for a quiet, relaxing time away

  • 5 of 5

We loved our weekend on Houghton Lake at this great cabin. The cabin had everything we could have possibly needed to make our meals, enjoy the fireplace, listen to music, and relax with a good book. We were staying in the cabin in December, but I really hope to come back again in the summer to enjoy the lake and the amazing 3 season room now that we've found this great place. Communication with the owner was great and our deposit was very promptly refunded after the trip. Thank you so much and we hope to be back!

Unplugged Relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

The title pretty much says it all. It was a great place to read, catch up on some bible studying, play games, and most importantly just talking with my wife. I was away from everything so I didn't think about all the stuff back home and no other real distractions so that helped tremendously for us to relax. The cabin is nice and comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace and sitting at the glider/rocker chairs...sampling all the CDs on hand to play in the Bose radio. We danced a little :) Just a great time to reconnect! I certainly recommend this to anyone looking to experience the same.

Cozy Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I stayed in this beautiful and cozy cabin for a weekend to celebrate the new year. We loved sitting by the fireplace playing board games and enjoyed the view of the beautiful snow covered lake. We would love to stay again during the summer! We would also recommend Buccilli's pizza to anyone staying on Houghton Lake :) Overall, a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

AMAZING! Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was amazingly well decorated and kept up. True log cabin feel and look. Everything but food provided, making it easy to just relax. Easy to find, incredible view of lake as well as magnificent sunsets over lake. Fireplace was a huge plus, as well as the firewood provided. Local village wraps around the lake with many wonderful venues to visit. Back foyer/porch is gorgeous, excellent place for meals.

Only downsides are a picture above the toilet that would not be appropriate for children, shower is open and water can splash out onto floor, most windows are glazed for privacy but a few windows could use curtains.

We most certainly plan on multiple visits to this cabin in our future.

Brian and Bethany!
