About BARBARA MAJKA

We live in Louisville, KY. and vacationed in Eastern TN often. We love the area and can't get enough of the beautiful national park. We decided to buy a cabin when we retired.

BARBARA MAJKA purchased this cabin in 2012

Why BARBARA MAJKA chose Tennessee

My only cabin requirement for a cabin was a view. I scouted cabins for a year before buying A VIEW FROM THE TOP. This was IT for me! From all three decks there was the most incredible view I had seen in my year long search. The cabin sat directly across from Mt. LeConte with no wires or rooftops interfering with the beautiful view.

What makes this cabin unique

Of course the VIEW! The cabin is on a mountain but centrally located. The cabin is a roomy 2700 sq. ft.

We always stay at this place when we travel to smokey. It has a great view and cabin is very nice from Inside. The owner has always responded timely to our request.

Beautiful View, Cabin Wanting

  • 3 of 5

If you are looking for a beautiful view, you will find it here, but if you are a regular cabin renter, you will be disappointed. My family rents cabins often and this one was the worst we have ever rented. It is poorly designed with its two flights of skinny, spiral staircases (it's VERY hard to carry a suitcase up and down these steps) and the windows leak (we had a flood in the entry from one of the windows when it rained), plus the two bedrooms on the bottom floor felt dark and dank (you could smell the moisture in the walls). The owner was VERY helpful and kind, always on the ready to answer questions, so I feel bad leaving this review, but regular cabin dwellers will not like this stop.

Beautiful view, clean & Family friendly

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! Beautiful view from all three balconies, clean, comfortable beds, and great game room. Our kids had an amazing time playing air hockey and all the other games provided. One of the best family vacations we've had!

Truly a Cabin with a view

  • 4 of 5

View from the top was as advertised. The cabin is clean and well furbished for those wanting to be in the cabin. We had many meals for our family here and found the kitchen to be equipped with all we needed. We spent each morning and evening looking out over the valley. It is very beautiful and relaxing. The only issue we had was with the spiral staircases. They are attractive and usable, but we did not anticipate the challenge of carrying in a weeks worth of luggage on them.

We enjoyed our stay and would consider coming here again on our next visit.

great view, great cabin inside and out.WATCH OUT FOR THE BEES!

  • 4 of 5

so first off great clear views on all three decks. very clean cabin many amenities. it was really well kept. all beds were comfortable. bathrooms clean and everything was working in cabin. the owner was very helpful and always answered her phone if you have any concerns or questions very nice lady. our only complaint was the carpenter bees. they were big but really didnt bother us. the bees literally drill holes in the cabins wood to lay eggs. the owner says they had it sprayed by pest control but goddamn there were alot of holes. some were filled by owners but some were fresh and i could watch bees drill as we were there. look for little piles of what looks like saw dust on the decks and porches. i even noticed holes on the back side of the house. when we arrived i killed six bees that were in the windows on the main floor. i think a door was left open or something cause after a couple days no bees inside at all. i probably killed a dozen all together that were inside the house. we have a five year old and these were big for bees so it did scare him. just wondering if the bees keep drilling will it do structural damage? to sum it up great cabin great views. there are four like cabins in a row there so expect neighbors and noise. it was quiet while we were there. we stayed a week and only had neighbors on the weekends. it was defiantly worth it and if the bees were not there five stars for sure. its just not something you want to vacation to a cabin with a bunch of big bees near the windows. makes you worry where else they could be. downstairs for the Jacuzzi were towel in a basket rolled up right near the window where some bees were. that wouldnt be good if you grabbed a towel for the Jacuzzi and a big bee was wrapped up in the towel. we only found bees by the windows probably trying to get warmth from the some. they didnt move much either or fly around at all inside just sat by the window

Owner's Response: This is the time of year the bees arrive. There is nothing cabin owners can do about that. The bees love those cabins. Cabin owners try what is available to deter them but they still show up and drill those holes. We have never had bees inside the cabin. I don't understand that unless the cleaning crew left a door open while cleaning and it was unusually cool in the area. This is my first complaint about the bees. Maybe some guests are familiar with Carpenter bees and know they are after the wood not us humans.
