About The Dudley Group LLC

About the owner: The shoreline of Cayuga Lake is my home. I grew up in Florida, vacationing in Ithaca from 1976 every summer. When I retired I was able to purchase this contemporary treasure.

Time here has inspired two of my children to choose Cornell for their education.

Fire pits, smoors on the lake, and hot fudge sundaes from Purity Ice Cream get you through those growth moments of life.

We are spoiled with Tempurpedic beds, air conditioning, and city water (all the luxuries not common to the lake cottages of our years as a tenant, each summer).

Quiet surrounds us, as in a bubble, while outdoor grilling, as others enjoy the hot tub in summer or winter.

When playing my 1952 Steinway in the music room overlooking the gorge, time stands still.

I love to sleep in the loft with a fire at night, while my kids are playing cards in the lower living room by the fire.

We are connected, as if in a tree house, to all that is mother nature.

It is difficult to be humble about my sweet little treasure, but it is easy to be a steward of this precious land.

The Dudley Group LLC purchased this house in 2004

Why The Dudley Group LLC chose Cayuga Lake

Why the Owner Chose Ithaca:

Travelers report to me about their stay, that it had been a gift to be here, whether for a family reunion, a single writer, a bride and groom, or a lone musician. All seem to rest, play, learn and a few report that magic happened.

What makes this house unique

The Unique Benefits at this House:

There is a mother Eagle who has had her nest full of new little babies for 7 years now from the same high nest in a tree on the North property line, over the gorge. Every year, like the clock work of Spring, she never seems to tire, she never ages, she soars the shore, over the lake, with grace and strength. Each year, her precious eaglets hatch and after finding their own wings, they take flight. She then sends them off.....then does it all over again in a year. A glimpse of her is renewal…where does she get that from? Here…in Ithaca, just like I do. I wish the same for you.

Large and Modern Lake House Perfect for the Girls Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This home is perfect for a large group with plenty of quiet bedrooms with comfortable beds and gorgeous views. The open floor plan (and outdoor living space) is perfect for gathering around meals, and the lake front access is great for canoeing and swimming, or just feeding the ducks! All of the linens and towels were fresh and clean, plus the two large bathrooms were perfect for 12 ladies getting ready everyday. The owners were very considerate and responsive to any questions or requests and made the rental process easy, from beginning to end. The driveway looks daunting, but even for the small cars was manageable. Would definitely come back to this relaxing and modern house on the lake!

Well maintained. Modern and awesome appliances.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful setting. My son loved playing the piano in the living room. There were a few issues with getting in the house initially and some trouble with minor things like a leaking faucet but the owners were really on the ball and took care of everything in short order. My family loved the hot tub, the fire pit, sitting on the deck. The house has a sunny, open layout that we really loved. Great time was had by all!!

Beautiful family home with everything you could need!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for 4 couples for a family wedding. The house had everything we needed, and we especially appreciated all the extra towels, the washer / dryer, the air conditioner, the cozy family room with the large tv, and the large dining room. The bedrooms were good-sized, and the mattresses comfy. Three bedrooms have doors, but the loft is open - turns out this wasn't a problem, because of the way the house was laid out, and the loft is big, so it's still pretty private. The view from the back deck is spectacular, and private. Just one heads up - there are stairs down to the house from the driveway, so you need to carry stuff from the car to the house. The place was very clean when we arrived, and the hosts were very communicative. We were just a short drive from restaurants in Ithaca, and two parks were even closer. We recommended it to everyone at the wedding!

Amazing time - we'll be back!!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you, Elissa & Mark, for a wonderful weekend getaway!!

Our initial plans were just to find a decent place to return to after day hikes to the many beautiful waterfalls in the Ithaca area. Some in the group were less experienced and I was hoping that the place would at least be accommodating enough that whoever stayed behind would still enjoy themselves. To our surprise, not only did everyone come out for all the hikes, but coming home to this beautiful place seemed to prolong the weekend...

We would wake up and have coffee/breakfast - head down to the firepit on the lake (which never stopped burning for three days, and never ran out of firewood) - soak in the amazing lakefront, and set off for our daytrips. The magic happened on our return from hiking... we had stayed in the area last year - at a hotel - and what ends up happening is you come home from hiking, you shower, you go out for a meal, you get back to the hotel, unwind, and sleep.

This was different - as tired as we were from all the hiking, once you get back to this amazing home, you don't want to leave or sleep. People would just gravitate towards the lake - whether on the dock, or by the firepit. We grilled, we ate, we drank, and we hung out together until 2am every night!! I can't further express what a perfect time this was. It felt like our own private resort. We will definitely be back!

As for the nuts and bolts of the place...

1. It is more beautiful than the pictures. And judging from anything else I found on VRBO, nothing out there compares for a group this size.

2. The house is on a lot shared with another home (same owners) so be mindful of the address on the mailbox - it's hard to see driving northbound.

3. The driveway is STEEP - we all have AWD vehicles so I'm not sure how you'd fare with a 2wd - just be prepared

4. Bring flashlights - it's really dark at night, and going up and down to the lakeside can be treacherous if you can't see where you're going. Our smart-phone flashlight apps were fine for this.

5. Don't overprepare/pack - there's a Wegman's 8 minutes away so do all of your food shopping there

6. The place was spotless - beds were amazing, and Elissa was constantly in touch making sure everything was ok for us.

7. Take your time - and enjoy every moment!

awesome Ithaca

  • 5 of 5

A family stay with 8 people in one home quickly demonstrates the best features of a property. Our group continued to be delighted by the thought put into this home to accommodate visitors.

There was no need to debate who got which bedroom - they were all excellent, clean, super comfortable and had great views. And two full bathrooms meant no waiting. The kitchen and dining areas offered plenty of space for everyone to hang out even while food prep was underway (with the fantastic high-end appliances). The kitchen area blends into the family space nicely (split-level) so no matter what was going on, everyone felt together yet with plenty of space and views of the lake and woods (and the massive new TV).

Even though it was early spring, we enjoyed the huge deck space, the hot tub, the lakeside fire pit, the dock & property, with some even braving a pre-season dip in the lake. The property location was ideal for our jaunts to town and natural attractions.

Our hosts were extremely responsive and communicative - something that really takes any stress out of booking and staying in a new place. There are too many more details about the home and property to list which all contributed to a very enjoyable stay.

We're definitely coming back again!
