Tulum Condo Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom and 2 bath facing the pool

Welcome to Casa Pelicano, your home away from home. The beautiful private end unit is located in a small building within the safe and secure Aldea Zama development. We are located in the jungle just 5 minutes to the spectacular sandy beaches (no more seaweed!) and downtown Tulum. Aldea Zama are the closest condos to the beach and it is accessible by foot, bike path or car. Our home is very open and airy, with a nice cross breeze. Our home has a lovely outdoor patio surrounded by palms for complete privacy with the pool just steps away - the best pool at Aldea Zama! Both bedrooms are spacious with comfy queen size beds and the master has an ensuite bath. The second bedroom has direct access to the main bath. Each bath has a large walk-in shower and both bedrooms have ceiling fans and their own air conditioning. The main living area also has air, a ceiling fan and large sliding doors that open up to the patio facing our beautifully tiled pool. The unit is meticulously maintained and our local management are fantastic!

There are miles of gorgeous sandy beaches to explore and we're just 15 minutes from the entrance to the Sian Kaan biosphere. Downtown Tulum with shops and restaurants is less then a mile away. The Tulum ruins are just around the corner and Gran Cenote is a few kms away. XelHa is 10 minutes from Tulum. Akumal is a 15 minute drive, 30 minutes to Playa del Carmen and Coba is an easy 45 minute drive. Valladolid is one hour by car.

There is so much to see and do or you can hang out by the pool and do nothing at all. Come stay with us for a vacation you will always remember!

We are happy to help with special requests and can also assist with airport transfers (we have the best rates), child care, groceries, catering, private tours to cenotes, ruins, jungle, car rental, photographer and more. Just ask!

Casa Pelicano is a non-smoking unit.

About Ildi Hards

We are a family from Vancouver, BC who love spending time at the beach! Tulum is our second home where we relax and recharge from the rat race in Vancouver. We know you will love it as much as we do.

Ildi Hards purchased this condo in 2013

Why Ildi Hards chose Tulum

Tulum has some of the world's best beaches and there are lots of interesting places to see in the Yucatan. After spending 20 years vacationing around Akumal, Cozumel and Tulum, we decided to buy our own piece of paradise.

What makes this condo unique

Casa Pelicano is our home away from home. You will find all the comforts of home in a condo perfectly located between the beach and town, where you will find everything you could possibly need. We love our end unit location facing the beautiful pool. There is 24 hour security and we have a wonderful manager who is available to assist with questions or problems should anything come up.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a wonderful experience at Casa Pelicano!!! Everything was exactly as described in this unit, from driving instructions to the condo to whom to contact for check in. There were lots of communication between us and the owners both beforehand and during the vacation, when we instigated it. We have been to Tulum many times before, but this is the first time staying there, as we tended to drift to that beach on all other trips and then wonder why we didn't stay there. I must say that if you are a fan of helpful, friendly people, beautiful beaches, excluding the sea grass that happens to be there this trip, this is a great central location for vacation fun! If you are a fan of locking yourself into the Mega resort and never leaving, this is not your spot. Edger at ISIS car rental was wonderful and made us a great deal on a car, which made the trip even better. I would recommend renting a car to get the most out of this condo location, but if you are young and enjoy bicycling, it is close enough to go from the beaches to the Tulum on them. Fastest WiFi connection we have every had when in Mexico and it was seamless connections with phones and laptop. No television stations, but the owners do provide a TV with a DVD player, but we didn't even turn it on, it was not missed.

Our recent stay at Casa Pelicano

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I recently (August 2016) stayed for one week at this lovely condo.

It was equipped with everything you could possibly need especially the kitchen but of course we didn't cook anything with all the restaurants available in the area. For anyone staying longer there was everything you would need to prepare meals. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious, very clean and perfect. Rosie the property manager was available, professional and very charming.

The proximity of the pool right outside the patio door was excellent for cooling off. Although neither of us rode a bike like many we saw, we managed to get around by walking and/or taking taxis (50 to 70 pesos to Tulum village or the beach). The area was excellent for sightseeing, taking tours/trips and not crowded on the beach nor were there any vendors at the beach. I actually came home with many pesos left.

This was a side of Mexico (the Riviera Maya) that I hadn't seen before, however hope to return.

Amazing host

  • 4 of 5

The place is a little paradise. Everything is perfect but keep in mind that you are not a walking distance from the beaches. Ildy is a great host very reliable and thanks to her for all the tips and suggestions. One last thing I had to mention is that there was construction in the building next to Real Zama. Anoying yes. Temporary I guess! But overall, I would recommend!! Thanks for everything Ildy!

Good location

  • 4 of 5

This condo is in a good location, halfway between the beach Zona Hotelera and the downtown. The unit was a clean and comfortable two bedroom - a good size for our family of four. Ildi, the owner, was very responsive and friendly via email throughout the booking process and during our stay. The onsite manager, Rosy, is great. She had good recommendations for restaurants and beach clubs and was readily available via Whatsapp when we had questions. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and the bathrooms were new and very nice. The pool area was great, but note that this condo unit is part of a much larger development that is still under construction. If you plan to spend time at the pool during the day you will hear building noise - hammering, etc. We left most days so was not a problem for us. Also note that there is a TV in the condo but no cable service. We hooked up our laptop and used our own Netflix account to watch movies - so again not a problem for us. The wifi worked fine. The one thing we did not like was that the unit had a slight mildew smell which was most noticeable when first entering. I let the owner know and she said they would look into it. Most likely a result of not running the air conditioners for awhile in the tropical climate. Not a big deal but full disclosure here. There is a large Chaudraui grocery store very near by (although a far walk) and a Red Cross office which we had to use unfortunately for an injury. The doctor there was great and the cost was very low. Overall, the unit was very comfortable and worked well for us.

Regarding the area - when you first drive into the town of Tulum it does not look very nice. Don't let that discourage you. Get out and walk up and down both sides of the main drag and some of the busy side streets. You will find many great restaurants and bars. The owner provided an extensive list of her favorites! We had great food at El Milagrito - chicken wings were fantastic as was the Camerones al coco (Coconut Shrimp). And do not miss Panna & Ciocolato for great gelado! Look for the little bright red and yellow shop on the main drag.

The main attraction here for me was the beautiful beaches. We spent 3 great days hanging out at Rosa de Viento - the last club on the road. If you spend $300 pesos per person on food (fantastic!) and drink (not so great) you can use beach beds, chairs etc.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We work very hard to make sure everything is perfect for our guests. When there is a lot of rain, its impossible to keep the mustiness away. We will run that ozone more often during the rains! We do not advertise that we have a TV and it is there for our guests to use Netflix etc. Happy to hear you enjoyed the beautiful beaches around Tulum. Saludos!

Fabulous place to stay in Tulum

  • 5 of 5

My husband and 2 children (ages 16 and 11) just stayed here for a week at Christmas and it was PERFECT! Very clean and well laid out condo on the ground level with lots of privacy behind lush landscaping and easy access to the pool. Bedrooms and bathrooms are specious and very clean, and property manager Rosie met us when we arrived and provided lots of great tips of where to go and what to do. We felt like locals! Location is perfect...quiet with great places to ride bikes all round the Aldea Zama complex but very close to town and the beaches. We will be back!

my vacation

  • 5 of 5

Last summer, the owner donated a week at her condo as a fundraiser for kittens and cats. I was the lucky winner and myself and two friends were in Tulum from Dec 9 to 15th We had loads of fun- my friends biked all over the place and and went to the ruins which apparently were amazing ( I basically lived in the pool). We took taxis to the restaurants for meals (very cheap fares) and to the beach with Juan the taxi driver. The swimming with the turtles at Akumel (15 miles away)was definately a high light and the ocean water was so warm.

Weather was awesome - perfect for me as there was usually a bit of cloud so the sun didn't get too direct.

Rosie the property manager was welcoming and wonderful. And Juan - the recommended taxi driver - let me tell you - that man is wonderful ++. He took us everywhere and dealt with my walker like a pro.

Condo was so comfortable and we had everything we needed and as a mobility challenged person it was very accessible.

Our connection with Canada Transfers worked perfect too,

Thank you so much for this creative way to raise money for the kittens - I know I wouldn't have chanced travelling if I hadn't won this and now I see I can travel still. Mexico was just great and I can't wait to go again.

We stayed here from Nov.23 till Dec.1. We are seniors and loved that we could walk out the sliding door right to the pool. Enjoyed every morning there with a cup of coffee and a book. The condo has everything you need. The rooms are spacious showers are large and the beds are extremely comfortable. When we arrived there was a large bottle of water for us. Also wi-fi and TV. Rosie the building manger greeted us on arrival and went over everything. She is so knowledgeable about things to do. Thank you ildi for your hospitality and for allowing us to stay at your great condo.
