Our home is ideally located near downtown and all that Austin has to offer. It is walking distance to 6th Street, Zilker Park, Congress, UT and more. There are hike and bike trails easily accessible from the house and Lake Austin is just 1.5 away. At 3200 square feet and several living areas, there is enough space for groups to spread out under the same roof. Lightning fast 1 gig internet. Sleeps 7 comfortably but more if you don't mind air mattresses.
Our home was originally built in 1926 but was extensively remodeled in 2009. We tried to retain as much of the charm of the old bungalow style while modernizing our home for entertaining and comfort. The original (and amazing) front porch is a favorite for enjoying your morning coffee or resting your feet at the end of a long day exploring Austin.
There are two living areas and many places to is and eat: a formal dining room, an original breakfast nook, a game table in the great room or bar stools at the 12 foot long kitchen island. Our home has 2 bedrooms upstairs with a shared bath. Downstairs you will find the master suite and another bedroom with an adjacent bathroom.
Our home is centrally located in the historic neighborhood called Old Enfield. This central neighborhood of Austin houses the highest concentration of historic grand homes and mansions. Adjacent to other designated historic homes and just half a block away from the old Governor's (Pease) Mansion, this home is also located just a 5 minute stroll from great restaurants and cafes such as Jeffrey's, Cippolina, Josephine House, Zocalo, Cafe Medici and Galaxy Cafe.
Pease Park is equally close and connects to all the downtown trails in Austin on bike or by foot without having to walk on a street. Shoal Creek winds through the park along the shady trail making for a pleasurable nature outing. Located within a few minutes from the Blanton Museum, the Texas History Museum, the LBJ Library, the Capitol, the IMAX Theatre, and the UT Campus, our home is as central as you can be.
