|Space||1,000 sq. ft.|
|Minimum Stay||2 - 30 nights|
This property is part of the Home Collection-Charlotte's Boutique Furnished Residences.
This large (1,000 sq. ft.) ground floor 1br/1ba furnished apartment retains its original charm, with high ceilings, large double-hung windows and hardwood floors. Due to the large size, it's ideal for a couple to share for long stays, and can sleep 4 for shorter stays when using the comfortable queen sofabed.
There is an abundance of storage, especially for a building of this era. The radiator heat and window a/c units have been replaced with central heating and cooling. The kitchen has space for quick meals, and the large dining room is ideal for dinner parties or family get-togethers.
There are 2 flat-screen televisions, one in the living room and the other in the bedroom, and a small stereo system with ipod connections. A washer and dryer are within the unit, as is a dishwasher.
The front porch is great when the weather is nice, as there are many joggers, dog walkers and bicyclists out and about in the neighborhood.
Independence Park, just a couple of blocks away, is a neighborhood treasure, with a rose garden, reflecting pool, tree-lined paths and tennis courts.
The area has a young and vibrant feeling, with the residents proud of their neighborhood.
Within a half mile are more than a dozen restaurants, many pubs, an independent video rental store, and several vintage clothing and furniture shops.
We purchased this building due to its prime location in the Elizabeth neighborhood, close to Plaza Midwood. We were drawn to the craftsman architecture of the building, with its deep eaves and cedar shake siding on the back. The fact that is in the heart of the neighborhood, near the park, and with wide sidewalks, large oak trees also attracted us. It's hard to be as centrally located as Elizabeth.
Location, location, location, in Charlotte's second-oldest streetcar suburb, started in 1891.
The apartment was perfect! The details to which you have attended have been a delight. Truly above and beyond. Would come back in a minute and recommend without reserve.
The good: Charlie and his staff were very nice. When there was an issue they tried to fix it. I like the food, snacks, booze and wine they left. It was decorated very nice. Most of all it is in a great location. The unit seemed very clean. The bad: The kitchen is old and needs updating, such as a new stove, (although it does work) , and kitchen needs new counter tops. There is a constant gas smell in the kitchen. but we were reassured that it was safe. The bathroom sink is very old and gross with water stains that makes it look dirty. You can not put your hands or toothbrush under the facet because it is too close to the sink. The heat went out twice although they were prompt when fixing it. It is a good thing it was not too cold or too hot outside. The building is a very old building that needs to be upgraded to the level of their other properties.
We would stay in one of their other properties just not Hawthorne.
We do love Charlotte and we visit often, because our son lives here. There are many good restaurants within walking distance, and a great areas to walk or run. Our dog Tessie enjoyed her walks.
The property was exactly as shown. It was very clean and well decorated. The bed was very comfy as well. Some very nice welcome touches as well, such as a bottle of good Italian red, various liquors, spaghetti sauce with noodles, orange juice and muffins. Very thoughtful and much appreciated! The communication was quick and helpful. Also the location is dynamite. Beautiful neighborhood within walking distance of some great restaurants such as Cajun Queen and others. I don't usually write many reviews, but this was definitely one of the best rental experiences I've had. Kudos to Charlie :-)
Our stay at the Home Collection property was very good. The apartment was clean and had all the amenities needed for a month long stay. The location was perfect...close to Uptown and within walking distance of a city park. Management is friendly and accommodating. Would stay there again if the need was necessary.
We stayed in this unit and had a great experience! The apartment is charming and well decorated and the host left very thoughtful "welcome" treats which was so nice. The location is great, close to uptown/downtown and you can walk to a number of restaurants (we enjoyed walking our dog around the charming neighborhood). The apartment was spotless and everything about our stay was pleasant and convenient. Highly recommend!
Well accommodating with nicely selected wine and snacks. In house washer and dryer with detergent. Almost everything you would need is provided. The renter, Charlie, is very nice and was easily contacted to answer my questions. This house is conveniently located to the city, epicenter, great restaurants, uptown, South Park mall.. overall enjoyed my stay!
The host was gracious. Everything was just as described! We loved the neighborhood! It was just a lovely place for a very reasonable price. Thank you for your hospitality!
Our Hawthorne Lane furnished apartments are located in the historic Elizabeth neighborhood, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, begun in 1891. Despite the age of the neighborhood, the area has a young and vibrant feeling, with lots of activities for the young and young-at-heart. Independence Park, with tree-lined paths, a rose garden, reflecting pond and tennis courts, is an intimate neighborhood park, built in 1905, just a couple of blocks away. Craftsman bungalows line the neighboring streets, and there are many restaurants within a 1/2 mile walk, along wide sidewalks through tree-canopied streets, including some of the best and most popular establishments in town, including Soul Gastro lounge. An independent video rental shop around the corner offers an enormous selection of movies, and several vegetarian restaurants are nearby as well.
