About Laurie Schechter

Our family has been renting in the Berkshires for years. We recently decided to buy a home both to use and to share. Seeing the potential in this charming home in desperate need of TLC, we brought it back to life. Who couldn't love its charm, central location and easy access to Lee, with its modern conveniences yet small town feel. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Laurie Schechter purchased this house in 2012

Why Laurie Schechter chose Lee

We love Lee! With its great restaurants, country stores and antiques, it is central to all in the Berkshires, with less traffic and tourists compared to some of the more popular Berkshire spots. From our home, you can walk into town for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, ice cream and shopping. Walk in another direction and you will find golf and tennis. Or drive just about anywhere else in minutes!

Cozy and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 5 friends rented this home for our 4th annual knitting retreat. We stayed 2 nights and wish we had stayed longer. The home is beautiful and charming and very complete. We appreciated the high quality of the renovations, furnishings and towels. We especially liked the option of a first floor bedroom since one of us was on crutches. While the house had a homey touch it did not feel cluttered or overly personalized. It was a perfect rental in a perfect location. Laurie was very responsive to communications.

We hope to return next March for 3 nights!!

Beautiful home near many sights good for families

  • 5 of 5

We traveled with two adults, a speedy 10 month old and our small dog. The house was among the cleanest homes we have stayed in (much more obvious w/ our crawling baby), and it was beautiful with all the amenities you'd want. We cooked a couple of nights and enjoyed the crawling space. it's also a quick drive (or walk on nicer days) to the restaurants and boutiques in Lee. Laurie and Roxanne made arrival and checkout very easy. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

The home in Lee was absolutely perfect! Welcoming, lovely and spotless. We were in town for our son's wedding and it helped to make a beautiful weekend even more special! The master bedroom on the ground floor was a perfect spot for my husband and myself. The rest of the bedrooms were upstairs which was nice getting ready for the wedding. The kitchen was well appointed, with eveything you would need to prepare a delicious meal. The pictures on vrbo were nice but the house is actually much nicer! I would highly recommend this house if you need a place to stay in Lee Ma.

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your experience, Sue. I can’t think of a more magical place than the Berkshires for a wedding. My husband and I also love the privacy of the downstairs bedroom when our 20-somethings are with us, and I think the kitchen is better stocked than our primary residence. We’re so glad you enjoyed our home and your special weekend. Congratulations, again!

Inviting, modern, charming. Wonderful location.

  • 5 of 5

If you are searching for a great place to stay in the Berkshires, this is a great bet, both in terms of location and the home itself! Highly recommended.

Location: You literally cannot go wrong. Perched on a rise with a great view of a hill across the way from the wraparound farmer's porch, the location is never the less a ten minute walk away from the inviting Main Street of Lee. Stockbridge and Lenox are just a very quick drive away.

Home itself: Charming yet sparkling and modern might be a way to describe the home. From enjoying a morning in the rocking chair on the front porch, to an evening in either the family or living rooms, to the beautifully maintained restrooms and bedrooms, to the well-stocked and gleaming modern kitchen, this place was wonderful. Clearly a lot of time and thought went into making the home inviting, and it was well-received. The pictures simply do not do it justice, and you'll wish you could spend more time enjoying the home.

Wonderful Labor Day weekend escape

  • 5 of 5

The house is wonderful and well appointed. The owner was super accommodating -- allowing us to check in early without an issue. Lovely base for exploring the Berkshires. And the Lee town beach is fabulous. Perfect for young children. We would love to return.

an absolutely lovely home.

  • 5 of 5

I have rented many homes through HomeAway in the United States and Europe. This home is one of my favorites - It is lovely, clean, well-stocked and comfortable! Also, short walk to the quaint town of Lee and only a few minutes drive up rt. 7 to Lenox. My family stayed here last Thanksgiving weekend (2014) and are doing the same this year. I meant to write a review last year, but now that I am getting ready to travel to Lee again this year and stay at this great home, I was reminded that I never wrote the review. I am so excited to be staying at this home again. It is a GREAT rental...Perfect in every way....
