About Cindy Young

We first came to the islands in 2000, on an anniversary trip - and couldn't stay away! We fell in love with the big island of Hawai`i in 2005 and found we keep coming back!

Cindy Young purchased this house in 2012

Why Cindy Young chose Puna District

We chose this area because it's close to all we love about this Island! The sound of the rain at night is soothing. The smells of the jungle around us and the quiet days are fabulous! We even love the sounds of the Coqui frogs at night! Our NaloNalo Kauhale will be the home we retire to in a few years.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a beautiful home! The pictures do not do it justice. I am in the market to purchase a new home for a relocation and this house is the model my wife and I have in our minds. It is centrally located to Hilo, Volcano Park, Black Sand beaches, and other areas of interest. The Lava Tree Park is less than 2 miles away and the Tidepools are about 18 minutes away. The Tide Pools at High Tide is some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island. Definitely go to Kalapana to watch the Lava flow into the Ocean. Hint ,you can rent out mountain bikes at the start of the gravel road so you

don't have to walk the 4+ miles. The house is pretty secluded & It is well equipped with kitchen and cleaning supplies as well as things needed for vacation such as snorkels and fins. The Dish Satellite TV, DVD player and WiFi were great for our evenings or days we decided to just stay in. The Decor and furniture are very nice in the home .It was always a joy to come back to the house after a long day out. We had spent several evenings having dinner on the Lanai enjoying the cool breeze and sounds of the Big Island. The ceiling fans throughout the house helped keep the interior nice and comfortable. The owner is also a very accommodating when we made a change in our plans to have a friend join us. And she has great communications whenever we had any questions. All in all, this is a wonderful home to rent for your vacation. We hope to be back here again in the near future!

Very Private and Comfortable Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice stay. The house has a well stocked kitchen and lots of beach stuff. We stayed 5 nights. During our stay we visited Volcano National Park, snorkeled in the Tide Pools a couple of times, biked to see lava entering the ocean, and visited waterfalls North of Hilo. We did drive a lot to see everything, but there really isn't anywhere more central. Our kids (age 3 and 6) enjoyed the community pool, that was just down the road. Although, the pool hours were limiting. They were only open from 10 to 4 and closed on Tuesdays.

Very nice, clean, well equipped property. Cannot say enough good things about our stay. We are already planning another trip at the end of 2017 and want to stay at this same home. We hope it will be available.

This is a lovely, large home about ten minutes out of Pahoa on a very private lot. If you're looking for peace a quiet this is definitely the place for you. This home is close to everything; we went to the market in Hilo, drove to the Volcano National Park, went to South Point, and spent a beautiful afternoon at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach. At the beach the turtles were out of the water and playing in the surf. this house is a good central location for sightseeing.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Had a perfect 6 day stay in this comfortable home. Had all the conveniences as if we were in our own house. Enjoyed the lanai and being able to BBQ. Just sitting outside at night was a pleasure. Conveniently located for little day trips. Had a wonderful time on our family vacation to Hawaii. Would recommend staying here to anyone.

We had an amazing trip to big island, this home is really close to everything. We visited the tide-pools, Volcano National Park, National Historic Sites/Parks, hiked to see lava flow to ocean, horseback riding, shopping, markets Wed./Sat.,and many hikes to waterfalls and petroglyphs. Wish we had more time here, I recommend this home to everyone looking for a great place to stay. The hurricanes Madeline, Lester did not stop us from having fun. Snorkeling with the green sea turtles was a lifetime memory that I will want to do again, next time. My husband Jeff and I, daughter Jazmine, and son Jaden want to thank Cindy for letting us stay at your home, it was truly a home away from home. Hopefully soon we can return, starting to plan, and save for next year for a return trip to your home, I want to make this an annual vacation for family every year.

Thank you,

Teresa D.
