This unit is a stand-alone structure located at the front of a house. The unit offers a kitchen, dining area, queen size bed and bathroom inside. There is 7 feet of kitchen counter space which includes a kitchen sink with garbage disposal, microwave, double hot plate, coffee grinder and coffeemaker. The bathroom is equipped with a toilet, vanity and shower corner. The bathroom is separated from the main area by partial wall and a curtain for complete privacy. Right outside the front door is a small refrigerator with a freezer drawer. Also located there is a washing machine shared with the house occupants ( can be used anytime not in use). Beside the unit is a covered sitting area with a grill shared with the house occupants (can be used anytime not in use). This unit also has a screened opening between the top of the walls and ceiling to allow for ventilation and natural light. This opening may also be a source of occasional neighborhood noise at night on this short residential street. Due to higher elevation and ventilation the unit does not get hot and at night the temperature may drop to the lower 60's during the winter months. Everything is new, clean and in working conditions making your stay comfortable and convenient.
My wife and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. After visiting the Big Island numerous times over the years we purchased this old house and decided to start fixing it up. The main house was built in 1972.

This studio is very conveniently located if you are staying in the Kona area or your trips start from Kona. When we visit the Island we spend most of our time in this area and make day or half day trips from here, getting back in time to go downtown for a dinner. I also feel that this studio has about everything you will need for a vacation at a fair price. You can get to most shopping centers, restaurants and downtown Kailua-Kona in 5 to 10 minutes.
This is meant to be a budget rental. It has the things you need but not necessarily luxury items. It provides a chance for a more authentic Hawaiian experience. You are not isolated by concrete walls, you may feel like you are living in a small Hawaiian community.

I came for a freedive class and had the privacy needed to study. It had everything I needed. Quick response time if you need something too.
Very nice place and well located, only 2 miles from supermarkets and stores down Palani. The owners are extremely helpfull and pleasant and have all you need to go snorkeling or to the beach.
I arrived to a really nice room to the front of the place. The place was clean and the instructions there were pretty clear. There was a hiccup with the Internet when I arrived, but I called up the owners and they got on taking care of it and it was cleared up the next day. They were interested in ensuring a good stay was had and were responsive. Also the caretakers left out some papayas that were grown on the property. Very tasty.
Ditto on all the rave comments in previous reviews. My husband and I stayed 5 nights. This studio was the perfect place to base our explorations of western big island. The studio is amazingly well stocked inside with all the necessities for bath kitchen and sleeping areas. And then they offer all the play support for swimming beaching snorkeling and pucnicking. The caretaker family is very warm and helpful. We highly recommend this studio and it is indeed an incredible value for the price
As I sit here thinking about how I can't wait to come back, it occurs to me that I think I forgot to do review on this great place. We were so happy all around at the place. Wonderful location, loved that it was so close to everything and in a residential neighborhood. It had everything we could need for cooking and bringing lunches to the beach. The family in house are very kind and brought over dessert and papayas but respectful of your privacy. A great place, not to miss and can't beat the price!
Two of us stayed for five nights. The location is great, close to Kona and easy access to coast. And the higher elevation is more comfortable at night.
Rental had everything we needed, and bed was comfortable. The unit is very small which made access to suitcases interesting.
Definitely worth the price.

Go 6.9 miles and turn left on Palani / Hawaii Belt Rd. 1.7 miles, turn right on Palihiolo Rd. .1 mile and right on Kialoa Place 138 feet to green house on the right. Our rental property is located in one of the oldest (early 70's subdivisions in Kailua-Kona) with an elevation of 972 feet. It is the first subdivision you will reach driving up Palani Road above Kailua Town. It is close to an incredible amount of things that the Big Island has to offer. Here is a generalized breakdown of some attractions / activities and time it takes to get there from our place. Restaurants, Farmer's Market and Grocery/Retail shopping from 5 to 20 minutes one way. Closest Grocery is Safeway and Walmart 5 minutes. Costco about 15 to 20 minutes away. Beaches are Kamakahonu (King Kam) Beach (2.4 miles) 6 to 8 minutes straight south on Palani to King Kamehameha Hotel. Here there is swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, kayaking, paddling options. It's a really good choice when you need to hit the beach in a hurry from our place. 10 minutes Old Airport Beach Park, to Hapuna (40 minutes N ), Mauna Kea (45 minutes N). Going South Pier and Kailua town 5 to 10 minutes, White Sands on Alii drive is about 15 to 20 minutes, there are several other shoreline places here as well and a fantastic place to snorkel at Kahaluu Beach Park (20 to 25 minutes away). Further South are Captain Cook and Ho'Okena Black Sand Beach Park and Two Step Beach for Snorkeling. Even though the distance is not that far allow for about an hour to these places because of traffic. There are many many more attractions and things to do. If you have a suggestion I can add it to the information in the future.
