About the property

Sleeps 4 - Private deck - Lake view

Studio Cottage:

Description:

one full size bed, pull out sofa bed, one bath with large walk in shower, full kitchen, fully furnished with all amenities on pristine lake front. New appliances, new carpet, private deck with gas grill over looking Thayer Lake.

100 feet of Lake Frontage on quite calm no wake lake surrounded by beautiful pines and hardwoods. World recognized Torch Lake is right across the street. Very private and quite setting. Thayer Lake is 1/2 mile from 2 marinas and the very popular Dockside restaurant on Torch Lake. Both marinas have boat ramps - Butches does not charge for their ramp. Butches has boat and pontoon rentals to cruise the Chain of Lakes. You can travel south on Torch Lake to Torch River into Skegemog Lake ending at Elk Lake where there is the quaint town of Elk Rapids and a wonderful boat friendly lake front restaurant with a great deck for outside dinning. Also you can boat north on Clam Lake to the Grass River and end up in Lake Bellaire ( great fishing lake ). The Grass River is a natural wildlife area with Swans and Loones. Truly an experience to enjoy for all.

Both Alden and Bellaire are 15 minutes away with restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacy ( Bellaire ), gas stations, and many very unique shops and dinning. Thayer Lake is 20 minutes from Shanty Creek Ski and Golf Resort. There are several great golf courses a short distance away. Taverse City is a 35 minute drive and Lake Michigan Beaches, Charlevoix is a 30 minute drive, and Petoskey is 1 hour away. Both are very beautiful cities on Lake Michigan and the drive is incredible. Mackinaw Island is also a popular destination and is a 1.5 hours drive and a really neat boat ride to the island - a unique day trip for sure.

In winter times there are many outdoor sport activities

which include: Downhill skiing, Cross county skiing, Snowmobiling, Snowboarding, etc. Thayer Lake is a great fishing lake. We supply a Rowboat with trolling motor and two Kayaks for your enjoyment.

This is a nonsmoking unit, however smoking is allowed outside. Dogs Allowed

Cozy and Peaceful

We stayed here for an extended weekend trip and loved it! The owners, (Russ and Michelle), are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. I recommend this studio cottage if you are interested in relaxing and enjoying the surrounding beauty.

Lovely little getaway on Thayer Lake

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful time exploring the area. We went out on the john boat provided and saw a family of loons. The host is very thorough in stocking the cabin with everything you might need and paying attention to details. We would love to come back and stay here again.

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I had a very pleasant stay at this cottage. It was relaxing, quiet, and peaceful. Russ and Michele were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was cozy, clean and had all the essentials. We wanted to find a place near torch lake and this was the perfect location. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone and we will definitely be returning.

lovely cabin in a beautiful part of MI

  • 4 of 5

Overall we had a great experience. Michael and his wife were very thoughtful - making cookies and leaving cheese and wine for us on our arrival. The cabin was in good shape, clean and comfortable and right on the lake. Overall it was a lovely experience.

Pretty Lake

  • 3 of 5

Thayer Lake is very pretty and a must see! Very peaceful and quiet. Close to Torch Lake which is one of the clearest lakes in the world. So much to do in the surrounding area- wish we could have spent another week in the Traverse City area. The owners are so nice and greet you with wine and cheese and fresh berries (that are local)! The only thing that kept us from giving a good/ excellent was that we lacked privacy. Unit is attached to the owner's office (he is not always there though) and the cottage is next door to their house. Little bit of a cigarette smell too. We generally like to be alone when renting VRBO/ Homeaway rentals-(felt more like a bed and breakfast feel ) and not have as much contact/ surveillance . But, had we been looking for more of a guest house situation, we would recommend to anyone!! Thanks so much for your hospitality Russel and Michelle!

Linda and Terry

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay. Russ and Michelle were excellent hosts. The accommodations were very clean and had everything you might need. I didn't catch the bass I was hoping too but the blu gills were large. We enjoyed traveling to all the nearby towns and having a central place to stay. Would definitely stay again.
