The beds are incredibly comfortable and all linens are provided. Wi-Fi and Directv in Master and large family room. We have a collection of menus from the better local restaurants to help you plan your stay. The kitchen is fully equiped with quality utensils. There is a fire pit in the back yard and two wood burning fireplaces inside. We have a covered front porch with rockers and two large decks in the back with a propane grill upstairs. We love spending time here and we know you will as well.
Check in time is 3pm and check out is 12 noon but we can be flexible depending on my cleaning service.
We spend most of our summer time in the cabin and love to take in a little snow in the winter as well as we live in Florida the rest of the time. The cabin is both secluded and cozy, yet easily accessible during snowy times. You will find all of the comforts of home there. it feels and looks like a true mountain lodge.
Rick Taylor purchased this cabin in 2012
Private and romantic setting, perfect for a weekend get away. Great restaurants and shopping close by. You have your own private hot tub just outside the back door!!
We were so pleased when we pulled up. The cabin was perfect and had everything we needed. We felt like we were staying in our own home. the beds were super comfortable and the decorations throughout the whole house made everything that much better. It's the perfect distance from everything we wanted to do as well. The pictures really don't do it justice. It is way better in person. We will be back.
Staying at Dancing Bear Lodge was even better than we could have hoped! This place has everything you need. And we mean everything! From the unique and tasteful decor, to a fully stocked kitchen, the cabin had everything. The rooms were spacious and the beds were huge and comfortable. The fireplace was great and Rick had instructions for anything.
The large hot tub was one of our favorite parts. After long days of skiing this was just the place we wanted to relax.
The cabin felt very secluded, but was really only 1.5 miles from Sugar Mountain. We felt very spoiled and so happy we booked this cabin. We can't wait to make another trip next year. Thanks again to Rick!!
This cabin is all you want in the mountains....we felt like we were stepping into a well equipped home. We cooked a little but mostly relaxed after a full ski day. The pictures and description are accurate. We want to come back during other seasons to see how beautiful it is. All bedrooms were comfortable and provided privacy. Very close to skiing, restaurants and grocery stores. Owners were great and very responsive.
Myself and 5 other family members were looking to get away for the weekend and try out the snow at sugar mountain. Found dancing bear online and booked it. The price seemed reasonable so we decided to give it a shot.
The cabin is located minutes from the ski resort which was nice.
It was in a secluded area of town in a wooded area so it was quiet and peaceful during our stay.
The house itself was in good condition and well equipped with appliances/furniture.
The rooms/bath rooms were clean and equipped with clean linens.
Owner gave us the wrong address. We showed up at their neighbors house instead of the owners house at 9pm. (not a deal breaker but probably scared the neighbors to death)
I noticed from some of the past reviews, guests had talked about the hot tub not working during their stay. I spoke to the owner prior to us arriving we were looking forward to using the tub during our stay. He assured us the tub would get fixed prior to our arrival. (the tub wasn't working when we got there)
The patio has a gas grill and gas heater on it. The grill grates were dirty and propane tanks empty. We had to clean the grates and get gas to use the grill.
The security deposit needed to rent this house was the highest of all comparable places in the area. At the end of our stay we were fined for a stain left behind on an end table by an air freshener?
Overall, the accommodations were nice, the location is nice, we were disappointed the hot tub wasn't working even though we were told it would be and the fine for the stain on the end table was disappointing.
We liked the area, but will probably try out a different cabin next time.
We had a group of 3 that rented the cabin to go snow boarding. We couldn't have been more happy with our stay! The home is a lot bigger than we thought. The interior of this cabin looked professionally done with some really neat paintings. The rooms were beyond nice and large! The hot tub was crucial after 3 long days at the slopes! The kitchen was perfect and had all the pots and pans needed.
We have been doing this trip to NC mountains for 5 years. This location was incredible and by far the best!! Literally 3 miles from Sugar and Beech is just up the road (house is in between the two mountains). The house was really easy to get to. We will be visiting again!
The owners of the cabin were great! They were constantly in contact with us and answered every question. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to ski or visit Banner Elk or surrounding areas.
We stayed at the cabin for a quick ski-getaway weekend with myself/wife and another couple. We were looking specifically for a cabin with the 'true' mountain cabin feel (not just a house) and close to Sugar Mountain, NC for skiing. This ended up being the perfect place. While it's not ski-in/ski-out on the slopes, the cabin is a very short ~5 minute easy drive to the base parking of Sugar Mountain. It's also an excellent location being likewise a very short drive to Banner Elk village. Even with very heavy snows during our weekend and a 2-wheel drive vehicle, we managed fine as you don't have to climb any steep/curvy residential mountain roads to get to the cabin. The cabin itself was amazing. Pretty spacious, yet cozy feel. Definitely the mountain cabin knotty pine feel from floor to ceiling, and incredibly and warmly decorated inside with great furnishings and unique decorative pieces not often found in vacation rentals. It was great to have a fireplace both upstairs and downstairs with easy-lite gas as well. I actually found that the pictures on the listing didn't seem to do it justice at all for how much character the entire home and interior decorating had. And the property was extremely clean. Rick, the property owner, was very helpful and responsive to a few inquires we had both before and during the trip. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!
