Sorry no pets & no smoking
Lifetime residents on the Pacific Northwest. Second generation owner of this paradise on the water.
Bob & Priscilla Avey purchased this house in 1953
'SUMMER SANDS' waterfront property was purchased in the 50's when I was a couple of years old.
My mother told my father, at that time, she would agree to purchase a lake home if...
(1) It didn't have a fast water drop-off
(2) No steep hills to get to cabin or lake
(3) Had a sandy gradual beach
(4) sun exposure most of the day
(5) and was a Deeded Lot (not leased) property........
~~~~THIS WAS A KEEPER~~~~
(In approximately 2007 we replaced the cabin with this lakeside 3600 sf home).
The location is perfect. It is at the start or Southeast end of the lake (saves you the dangerous drive up the lake). Only few minutes to the only town on the east-side of lake, 'Coolin' for your all your needed supplies re: gas, food, restaurants,Post Office, or emergencies/ boat & Jet ski rentals etc. (see Leonard Paul Store web site) An easy 30 minute drive to the town of Priest River.
The sunny EAST side is full of fun filled sunny days. Our home is a newer built home completed in 2007. We have a covered 14'x50' beachfront porch that allows you afternoon shade & to be outside and enjoying your vacation even during a summer rain. The westerly sunsets viewed from the east side of lake right off our huge porch and dining room are spectacular. Our bay is in a somewhat protected bay with very little boat traffic allowing safer swimming. The water is also warmer on the southeast part of the lake. Excellent fishing right out in front of home.
We love staying at this wonderful rental with our large family each year. The large covered porch is my favorite place to hang out with a beautiful view of the lake and a swing to enjoy your morning coffee. This area of the lake is a great spot for lake lovers of all ages as there is a large sandbar perfect for water play without fear of a drop off. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for a large group and easily accommodates multiple cooks in the kitchen. We love this place and can't wait to come back!
This is a perfect location to enjoy Priest Lake at its finest. The best location on the lake for smooth water, beautiful sunsets, and the moon shining on the water. We rented a boat from Crown Jewel as recommended by the Aveys and couldn't have been more pleased with the service. This was a family vacation with three couples and our sweet great granddaughter. The sandy beach and great covered porch were terrific. We had a fun filled week and wish we lived closer to Priest Lake, one of the most beautiful places we have ever been.
This was the first time that we vacationed at Priest Lake and we were so fortunate to be able to rent this house. Bob and Priscilla were so helpful and their house was equipped so nicely for our family gathering. We can't wait to come back next year. Priest Lake is so beautiful and we enjoyed boating, kayaking on the lake and up Soldier Creek, having a campfire, playing games on their spacious deck, and exploring around the area. Also we enjoyed the bike path which connects right near their house and also hiking which was a short drive away. Thanks so much for a wonderful time!
Let me start by saying we had a great family vacation at Priest Lake. There were 6 adults and 2 young children in our group. The weather and lake were perfect and we rented a boat in nearby Coolin for rides and water sports. But for the price of renting this home, I was disappointed.
This home is tired. The bedding and bath linens are old and worn, as are the cooking supplies. There were at least 4 bbq grills, two of them sitting in the weeds. I was shocked when we arrived to see all the miscellaneous stuff stored around the house and on the porches making it feel untended. The grass leading to the beach needed attention which was surprising as we had been told not to put ice on the grass as we might kill it.
Upon arrival we were told the satellite TV was not working and we should be available to let the repairman in on Tuesday during certain hours. Interesting…not what I had in mind during my vacation. In addition, were told if a realtor wanted to show it (it is listed for sale), we should accommodate them. Also, not what I had in mind.
The Avey's sent many emails and called various times re: the required payments and damage deposit. I paid exactly as requested and received their list of rules. It was 4 pages, including, but not limited to:
Rake the beach
Wash, dry, fold the bath linens
Take the garbage to the dump (pass provided so it's free) but about 5 miles away. Not convenient when you're trying to vacate
In addition, I think the owners should remove their personal items, like the bathrobe on the back of the Master bath door, the underwear in the armoire in the master.
Maybe I'm totally out of touch, but at these prices, I think this place should be well maintained, well stocked and the total cleaning, including garbage removal and laundry should be done by the owners. And asking renters to replace the used garbage bags is laughable.
Our family is very unpretentious and we all make the best of a situation, but we had thought of bringing some friends to join us. So glad we didn't. I would have been embarrassed.
Our family has been coming to Priest Lake for over 20 years. We have rented this home for the last 3 years and plan to rent it again. The home is located on our favorite part of the lake. Close to boat ramp and store in Coolin. We enjoyed water skiing, fishing, paddle boards, and just hanging out in the lake. Our two families with ages from 60 to 5 enjoyed the large kitchen, large covered back deck, beach, and dock space for 3 boats. The grass area next to the beach was used extensively for lots of corn hole games. Plenty of sleeping accommodations and bathrooms for all.
Best vacation ever! Our family of 10 had a week of fun, relaxation and adventure. Wonderful large 6 bedroom 4 large bath home right on the clear lake. Kids (ages 7-10) were in the water all day - sandbar went out about 100 yards with no fear of deep water. Grandson caught a fish in the rowboat provided- great moment for him. Nice big kitchen - never felt cramped and loved the huge covered back deck. Spent a lot of quality time out there. Thanks for the memories- great week with our beautiful family. The owners are wonderful to work with- always available to answer questions
Priest Lake 18 hole golf course is only about a 20 minute drive by car or take your boat across the lake and your gold cart awaits you at 'Hills Resort'. Hills is also a very special place to have a dinner by the lake.
Lake Trout & Kokanee are plentiful throughout the lake. We have caught and released 35 LB.Lake trout along with many great eating 2-8# range on light tackle.
~~~ Fall Fishing is a great/best opportunity to land that trophy fish.~~~
