Let our guesthouse be your home away from home in Burlington, located just 2 blocks from the Church Street Marketplace and 2 blocks from the Burlington Waterfront. Enjoy your stay within walking distance of everything Burlington has to offer, including shopping, dining, pubs, galleries, coffee shops, parks, marinas and the city's business district. We are 5 blocks (0.5 mi) from the center of the Champlain College campus, and 10 blocks (0.8 mi.) from the center of the University of Vermont campus.

Our historic property dates from 1890 and is renovated with period character and modern conveniences. Amenities include a fully equipped cook's kitchen, private yard, on-site laundry and off-street parking. Why stay in a hotel when you can have the spaciousness and privacy of your own home?

Sunset City Guesthouse comfortably accommodates 4 people in two bedrooms (1 king bed, 1 full). A plush, queen-size air mattress is available to set up in the living room which can accommodate up to 2 additional guests. Caretaker lives on site and is available to help with any questions or area tips.

Historical Charm with an unbeatable location

You cannot beat the location of this property. Equal walking distance to Church Street and Waterfront Park - and all that is in between. Ample private parking, a quiet backyard, and all the expected amenities of a rental property. Tucked away only a couple of blocks from Main Street, you're never too far away from the action, or from the relaxation of a quintessential Vermont town. Unique historical features throughout the house make you feel that you are a temporary resident of the community, versus a passing tourist.

Close to down town

This is a cozy little apartment close to down town. We especially liked the back yard and kitchen. The apartment is a little rough around the edges. The carpets are very dirty and there was a musty smell throughout. When we got there all the windows were closed and they had just cleaned so it smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals and room deodorizer. Once we aired it out and removed the overpowering room deodorizer, it smelled like wet carpet. Time to replace the carpets and rugs and/or buy a dehumidifier.

Overall good stay but we didn't spend much time inside the house because of this. Luckily it was nice out and you can walk everywhere from the address.

Perfect location, great style!

Matt's place was great and we had a fabulous time staying there. There is a spacious back yard to sit around in and all the amenities one might need for a weekend in Burlington. Would definitely stay there again!

Nice old house in a convenient location

Pros:

It was in a very convenient location, and it was just a few minute walk to be right downtown. It was a big place, with large bedrooms, kitchen, living room and dining area. The kitchen was fairly well stocked, and had things like measuring cups, which most rental homes don't seem to have! The large bedroom was facing the street, but running the window air conditioner helped to block out any noise. The bathroom was average sized, and the shower had great water pressure. Someone had mentioned in a previous comment about the bathroom being slanted, but I didn't find it to be a problem. I live in an old house myself, so nothing is straight! There was a nice, long driveway, that could fit three cars without any problem, so it was a plus to not have to look for parking.

Cons:

The bedding for the king-sized bed we slept in seemed to be for either a queen or double bed. The sheet and comforter barely covered the bed, so my husband and I ended up completely uncovering one another repeatedly every night, so larger, king-sized linens are needed for that bed.

We had an unexpected problem during our stay. There was some sort of leak in the upstairs apartment tub that leaked water all over from the ceiling down into our bathroom. Water was pouring out like a faucet from around a light fixture that was above the toilet. That was quite a mess I had to clean up! They had a plumber come the next date to fix the issue upstairs, but some repairs will need to be done to the ceiling and the light in the bathroom. There was some previous water damage on the ceiling and light, so it must have happened at least once prior to our stay. The property manager was aware of the issue when I spoke with him, so I'm not sure why it wasn't fixed sooner.

Great location!

The location is ideal-only a few blocks to Church Street or the lakefront. Apartment is clean, but could use more kitchen items, towels, pillows, and smoke alarms were missing. Owner very responsive to requests while we were in town. Will rent again, but for a smaller group than 5-would be perfect for a couple with one child.
