This is a beautiful and simple house in the heart of the most beautiful parts of Cape Breton, only 35 minutes from the Highlands Park and at the beginning of the Cabot Trail. While it is not air-conditioned, it has great ventilation by opening the back windows and the front glass doors.
There is a TV but no satellite hook up. If you bring movies on a computer or iPad and the right adapter, they will play using the TV's HDMI cable.
There is also a Bose Bluetooth Soundlink that you can hook up through a 3.5mm audio jack or a Bluetooth connection.
For rural Cape Breton, there is decent internet between 5 mbps and about 8 mbps rather than the 800k you often get through Bell Aliant. The problem is that it is pay-as-you-go with the charge of $5 per gig of downloaded content. I take a deposit and will alert you when that deposit is gone. If you're just checking email, it's about a gig (or less) a day. If you are watching YouTube, it will be 2-3 gig a day (i.e., maybe $15 for streaming YouTube content). Streaming Netflix or movies is strongly discouraged.
Finally, please be careful of opening the dishwasher; it's a very tight fit with the drawer immediately to the left. Also be careful opening that drawer. If you open slowly and pull in the right direction, everything works. Also, if you park in front of the two trees on the path to the house, be careful backing up. A key support of the deck is immediately in your path of backing up, so please do so slowly and look at how close you get to the pole.
There is a local person who manages the property, and he is great and reliable and very knowledgeable about the area. His number will be provide upon a successful booking.
