Casa Guacamole is a perfect place to relax as you enjoy views of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hualalai mountains as well as the Pacific Ocean all right from the three lanais. The property also offers a seasonal stream with a waterfall and swimming hole.
The open floor plan with high ceilings, sliding glass doors and ample windows allow for a glorious cross breeze and provides a comfortable temperature both day and night.
The house is located ten minutes from the historic and convenient town of Waimea/Kamuela where there is a variety of fine and casual dining and shopping, and local farmer's markets. Five miles in the opposite direction will lead you to the best beaches and golfing on the Big Island. Choose from long white sand beaches, surf breaks and state parks all within a 10 minute drive.
Owners live on property and are available to help guests easily with any needs while also maintaining privacy. Casa Guacamole is truly a peaceful retreat to unwind and get away
Andrew and Elizabeth grew up together in Virginia on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. After college and travels in Costa Rica and Japan, we reunited in 2008 and were married in 2010. Shortly after a dreamy wedding ceremony in Costa Rica, Elizabeth moved to Hawaii, where Andrew had built his dream home.
Andrew was drawn to buy and build on this property because of its excellent location to world class beaches and a quaint mountain town, allowing for the best of both worlds; sunny, warm days and starry, clear nights.
Andrew designed our home to reflect the three mountains seen from the three lanais; Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hualalai. We are blessed to live on such a special property and honored to have guests come and share in the beauty.
Thanks so much for making our holiday one to remember. Great location, amazing views from every room and everything we needed to make us feel that it was our home away from home. The desrcription underestimated the view from the bedroom as well as the lovely setting and view each day we enjoyed when having our breakfast on the outdoor patio/lanai. The property was clean and the owner was quick to assist with whatever questions we had. I would recommend the property to all.
My adult son and I have stayed at Casa Guacamole for three weeks during November 2014 and November 2015. We are lucky enough to be heading to our "home away from home" in just 12 days--I am counting down the days--for another 3-week-stay. Casa Guacamole is a spectacular home with 2 master bedroom suites and huge sliding glass doors to let the breeze in. The kitchen is fully equipped. The views from all around are amazing. It is a quiet and safe area. The home is private but close to so much - Waimea/Kahuela is 10 minutes away. Hapuna Beach and other great beaches are 15 minutes. SCUBA diving is 10-15 minutes at Kawaihae with Kohala Divers. Ziplining is available at 2 great places. Macy's, Costco, massage/pedicure/manicure about 30 minutes at Kailua-Kona. Elizabeth introduced me to the greatest yoga studio--There's No Place Like OM in Waimea/Kahuela. I can't wait to be back the day after I arrive on the Big Island. Hiking is close by - Elizabeth can give you tips. The marketplaces are fun--Elizabeth can tell you when and where they are. The owners Elizabeth and Andrew are locals and know what is available. They are wonderful people. They work hard, and Casa Guacamole is clean and in great shape. We are looking forward to another 3 weeks in paradise.
We've stayed here for two weeks with kids and both our mothers and everyone had a great time while at the house. The house is beautiful, spacious, airy, serene, quiet. It is well taken care off, clean. We loved that it had a lot of space for us, the amazing views, the sounds of birds, bullfrogs, geckos. The nights were cool, so no need for fans which was great. Our whole vacation was just smooth and I am very grateful that hosts have opened up this place for us and we were able to book it the time. The house just made our time at Big Island so much better. We were able to rest, relax, with no negative things that could crowd your precious time. Thank you, Elizabeth for taking care of us so well and finding the play pen. Hoping to be able to come back :)
Great home and wonderful owners. We felt right at home. Very comfortable. Only 10-15 minutes from several great beaches. We will likely return again.
Waimea is so tranquil and beautiful. This property was very nice. Yard was beautiful with excellent scenic views! Wonderful porches around the house to enjoy all the views. I wish we could have enjoyed it more but our trip was cut short due to airline issues. The inside of the house overall was not very clean and needs to be kept up better including exterior windows & doors. Also it was odd that many of the windows had no coverings so if you we're taking a shower at night in one of the bathrooms then someone could easily see you. The groundskeeper Jim was very friendly and nice along with two cute resident cats. We also visited the Farmer's Market on our way out of town which was very nice. Take OLD Saddle Rd on your way in or out of Waimea. Absolutely beautiful!!!
We stayed at this home for one week. It was a wonderful home base for enjoying the Northern part of the Island, specifically Kohola. We were only 10 minutes to Hapuna Beach and 5 to Spencer State Park and going the other direction we were only 5 minutes from Waimea downtown. Elizabeth lives on property and was available for any questions and guidance we needed. The house is beautiful and the views of the mountains, ranch lands, and sunsets were wonderful. There is extensive outside porches encouraging one to enjoy the natural beauty of Hawaii. The house was well equipped. Each morning we juiced fresh oranges picked from the trees on the property.
Waimea (aka Kamuela) is a picturesque mountain town, surrounded by lush, green hills and majestic mountain views. Our home is conveniently located between the town of Waimea and the spectacular beaches of the Kohala coast. Choose between a day of shopping at quaint boutiques in town or a relaxing day at the beach soaking in the splendor of world class boogie boarding, surfing, snorkeling and fishing.
At night dine in our home on fresh fish and veggies caught and grown locally while marveling at the gorgeous and peaceful night sky from the lanai or opt to dine in one of the exquisite restaurants located in town or at a nearby resort.
Fresh fruits, veggies, flowers, and locally crafted art can be bought from a variety of farmers markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Waimea is also an ideal location to base day trips to the beautiful towns of Hawi (20-25 min. drive) and Kapa'au, where you can take hikes in the rainforest, explore the black sand beach of Pololu, dip in cool waterfalls, visit ancient Hawiian sites, and zip-line in forest canopies. Treat yourself to tasty fudge or yummy shaved ice at the end of your adventurous day.
Another fun day trip takes you east to the towns of Honoka'a, the Waipio Valley, and even Hilo. Waipio Valley offers majestic, lush green mountain views plunging into the ocean. For the more adventurous traveler, rent an ATV or ride horseback for a better look at the beauty of this special place. Further down the road, is the town of Honoka'a offering more authentic Hawaiian arts and souvenirs and not to be missed fresh out-of-the-oven baked malasadas (Portuguese doughnuts). Continuing to Hilo, enjoy the plentiful waterfalls, scenic views, and botanical gardens.
The Big Island is a world of awe, splendor, adventure and beauty. Waimea is the perfect location to make your home away from home for the whole family.
