2 lovely apartments in a converted barn in the heart of Tuscany

Podere Albereto is located just 13 km from Florence with breathtaking views of the Chianti hills. The 10 hectare estate of olive trees, fields and woodland is only 2 km from the village of San Polo in Chianti at 350 m above sea level. Even in the height of summer there is a gentle breeze in the evening so air-conditioning isn't necessary.

The property has been lovingly renovated by its owners, Fabio and Trinidad, to provide comfortable holiday accommodation with all the necessary modern facilities (SAT/TV, wi-fi internet connection, fully equipped kitchens etc.) while retaining and enhancing the authentic Tuscan features such as wooden beams, stone and terracotta flooring and brick-lattice windows.

The owners live in the main farmhouse and are always happy to provide information about what to see and do in Tuscany. Olive oil is produced and sold on the estate, and you can also admire the hand-crafted pottery and paintings created by Trinidad in her art workshop at the property.

What the area has to offer.: Tuscany offers an infinite number of historic and cultural attractions. Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance must be visited for its monuments, cathedral, world famous museums and the Uffizi Gallery. You can get to Florence in under 30 minutes by car from Podere Albereto. Siena, home to the Palio horse race, is only 30 km away.

It goes without saying that this area is also world famous for its great food and wine: Gallo Nero Chianti Classico red wine, the best 'Bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine t-bone steak) is served in a little restaurant down the road in Panzano, pappa al pomodoro, ribollita. We can recommend some excellent restaurants in the vicinity where you can try the local delicacies and if you like fruit and vegetables you are welcome to try our home-grown produce on the farm.

Activities in the area: The property is an excellent starting point for day trips to San Giminiano, Arezzo, Lucca and Pisa. In summer, why not spend a day on the Tyrrhenian coast with its beautiful unspoilt beaches and in the other seasons you can spend a relaxing day in one of the numerous spas, thermal baths and hot springs scattered around the region.

If you like walking or hiking, there are numerous itineraries along public footpaths across, fields and woodland. Some start directly at Podere Albereto. There are also some excellent mountain hikes on Pratomagno, part of the Appenine range.

Horse riding stables can be found nearby and for golfers there is a beautiful and well-known golf club called Ugolino which is approx. 10 km away.

Details for IRIS 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 5, 1 Bathroom

The IRIS apartment is ideal for a family of 4 or 5 or for two couples . It is located on the ground floor of a characteristic and recently refurbished barn. It has two independent entrances, one from the main courtyard and the other opening onto the apartment's private patio area. IRIS is 60 sqm and has a fitted kitchen, dining and living area which accommodates five people. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and, if required, there is enough space for an extra single bed or cot. The second bedroom is also very spacious with fitted shelves, wardrobe and a double bed which can be separated into twin bed. Access to the garden is from this room. The bathroom has a shower, wash basin, w.c. and bidet. The private garden is ideal for outdoor dining where you can admire the spectacular views, sipping a glass of red wine ; a bottle is given to all guests on arrival courtesy of the owners.

The accommodation is in a quiet, peaceful and safe environment ideal for children.

A breathtaking view and an amazing place

waiting every morning with amazing view in the middle of olive trees and vine fields.

Spending 8 wonderfull days in the perfect close-by distance to Florence and Sienna and yet far enough away to enjoy the benefit and hospitality of the "true" Toscany without having it spoiled by too many tourists.

Charming apartment, nice and clean, and with extra towel to use at the free private pool (only used by the two apartments). We were received by our host, speaking fluently English, always smiling and friendly, giving us the instructions we needed and good advices in regards of shopping and restaurents as well, even oliveoil from his own production to brigh home as a souvenir.

We will most certain recommend this for all who enjoy a vacation in the unspoiled heart of the Chianti Classico region.

Quiet beautiful nature for relaxation

The house was easy to find based on the submitted description. Fabio and Trinidad came out happy and welcomed us and showed us the area and the apartment. It was all very beautiful and well maintained and a lovely area of natural beauty with its own pool to cool off in the hot summer, up to 40 ° C.

Fabio and Trinidad were very hospitable and we borrowed their washing machine and could just ask if we needed anything. Fabio had a lot of brochures from the cities of Tuscany and their sights that we borrowed.

Definitely a place we can recommend that you visit and we will definitely be visiting again.

We all four had a wonderfull stay at IRIS

Un sitio de ensueño y relax

Es una bonita ventana a la Naturaleza de la Toscana y desde luego un lugar entrañable con Fabio y Trinidad ,unos maravillosos anfitriones ,que con un montón de detalles hacen tu estancia muy agradable y tranquila.La casa esta muy limpia y unas vistas espectaculares. Para repetir!

Simply divine

I stayed here last summer with my partner. Friends joined us for the second week in the apartment upstairs. I wanted to stay forever. The owners couldn't have been more helpful (but euqually did not interfere). The countryside was breathtaking and it was easy to get into Florence by bus. I hope to spend all my summers here.

The little town of San Polo in Chianti is situated in north-west Chianti, 13 km south east of Florence. It is surrounded by rolling hills, some as high as 700 meters above sea level covered in a patchwork of vineyards, olive groves and fields. The area is world famous for the production of the Gallo Nero Chainti Classico red wine, extra virgin olive oil and the cultivation of the Giaggiolo Iris flower used in cosmetics and perfumes. Scattered over the Chianti lanscape are magnificent churches, turreted castles and ancient hamlets. We can recommend some lovely places to visit in the area where you can get the real feel of Tuscany and savour some of the delicious cuisine that this area is renowned for.

San Polo is just 2 km from Podere Albereto. Here you can find a restaurant, coffee bar, 2 small supermarkets, post office, bank and petrol station. It's worth a visit to the old church of Rubbiana (13th century) and country walks on footpaths in the midst of vineyards and olive trees.

Arrival and departure days are completely flexible; : Check-in is between 3pm and 8pm. However, if you let the owners know about your early or late arrival, they will make arrangements for this. Check-out: the apartment must be vacated before 10.00am, but you can stay at Podere Albereto in the communal areas for as long as you like on the day of departure. There are various spacious communal areas on the property: swimming pool (9m long x 4.5m wide x 1.35m deep) overlooking the valley; lovely sun terrace with sun beds, umbrellas and deck chairs; barbeque with al fresco dining facilities (dining table and chairs under the shade of a pergola); gazebo with table and chairs, garden and patios; a shaded car park. Considering the fact that there is only one other rental unit on the property, there is never a problem of overcrowding or lack of privacy.
