We spent a lovely week at Podere Albereto in Aug 2015.
The apartment ( Giaggiolo) was comfy, spacious and well equiped, and Fabio & Trinidad very welcoming.
Stunning views from the property across the valley and down to San Polo below.
Great location for visiting Florence (free parking at Piazzale Michelangelo), Siena and all the Chianti region, with a nice pool to cool off in at the end of each day.
Can thoroughly recommend and would not hesitate to go back another year.
Nous venons de passer de merveilleuses vacances dans un petit coin de paradis. Fabio et son épouse nous ont accueilli avec beaucoup de gentillesse. Leur propriété domine une magnifique vallée. La vue est tout simplement à couper le souffle!
We stayed for a week at Podere Albereto in Aug 2012.
Here one gets the dual benefit of enjoying a tranquil and isolated stay in the Chianti Hills whilst being right on the doorstep of Florence for great days out in the city. Being on a hillside, the property has beautiful scenic views; we enjoyed going for a stroll every evening and watching the sunset.
Paglietta Ristorante is at the bottom of the hill down in the town, the food here was so good that we had to sample it twice during the week!
The property has an ample sized swimming pool; this was a real treat during the hot weather. The apartment is modern fitted and has been tastefully furnished and decorated. There is a sizeable garden and grounds in which to read and relax in. The owners Trinidad and Fabio were kind and most gracious hosts and it was sad having to say good-bye to them at the end of the week.
Go and stay at Podere Albereto, I thoroughly recommend it. I am going back again!
The little town of San Polo in Chianti is situated in north-west Chianti, 13 km south east of Florence. It is surrounded by rolling hills, some as high as 700 meters above sea level covered in a patchwork of vineyards, olive groves and fields. The area is world famous for the production of the Gallo Nero Chainti Classico red wine, extra virgin olive oil and the cultivation of the Giaggiolo Iris flower used in cosmetics and perfumes. Scattered over the Chianti lanscape are magnificent churches, turreted castles and ancient hamlets. We can recommend some lovely places to visit in the area where you can get the real feel of Tuscany and savour some of the delicious cuisine that this area is renowned for.
San Polo is just 2 km from Podere Albereto. Here you can find a restaurant, coffee bar, 2 small supermarkets, post office, bank and petrol station. It's worth a visit to the old church of Rubbiana (13th century) and country walks on footpaths in the midst of vineyards and olive trees.
