About Diana and David Magistrelli

Diana is a retired cardiac nurse and has always enjoyed being around people.

David is a consultant and is now Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Gallatine Valley.

Both of us have always enjoyed the outdoors and have traveled west for many of our vacations. We decided, once we retired, that here in Montana is where we will make our home and run a Guest Lodge. Best decision we have made.

Why Diana and David Magistrelli chose Cameron

The property encompasses all of our dreams of owning a log home on 20 or more acres, with the Madison River in front of our home and close to Yellowstone National Park.

Ideal for fishermen, tourists, and family reunions.

Great Cabin on a nice river!

  • 5 of 5

Location is Beautiful. The Madison River and mountains are all out your back porch.

The owners are extremely friendly/helpful from both the booking process to check-in. David even showed us a few places to try fly fishing at.

It is clean and a legitimate “cabin” with solid log walls and 2 porches.

Mattresses are comfortable.

We got to watch antelope in the field next to the cabin.

The cabin is less than 100 yard walk to the river.

Things to be aware of when you book:

It is difficult to find in the night. (We arrived late due to a flight delay and road construction.) The local roads are poorly marked out here, and cell phone service is non-existent on AT&T, so make sure you speak to the owners ahead of time and are clear on the directions to follow to get here.

This cabin is a duplex that shares a common area. You will have a private bathroom (for up to 4 guests) and kitchen on each half of the cabin, but the tv, table, and sitting area is shared. This was not problematic, just something to know about. It would be perfect to rent both halves if you have a group of 6-8.

Charming cabin, wonderful hosts, and an incredible location

  • 5 of 5

It's honestly hard to find the words for this place. Nestled at the tail waters of the Madison River below Quake Lake, this is one of the most beautiful vacation spots I've been to. My fellow guests and I even remarked how we wished we had done the brunt of our stay here instead of our initial spot.

The cabin is well equipped, and the perfect spot for those looking to do some fishing on the Madison or even taking trips to Yellowstone, but if there's one thing you certainly do while here is stay up late enough at night to take in the stars. The location of this cabin is one of the few genuine "dark sky" spots, and the sheer number of stars as well as milky way bands you can make out is almost overwhelming. My friends and I actually had to take a moment to lie down in the grass to take it all in (we even managed to spot the ISS streak across the sky).

I also highly recommend to anyone staying here that they go check out the Quake Lake Visitors Center which is a mere 10-15 mins up the road, especially if you're into geological events.

Dave and Diana were also wonderful hosts, and so accommodating to our needs. I cannot recommend this place and these hosts enough for those looking for the perfect place to stay in the Madison River Valley.
