Awesome chesterman beach house

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at heron's perch exceeded all expectations. The location is perfect, right on beautiful chesterman beach, and the house is extremely private from the beach and the neighbouring houses. The views out to the beach and sea are stunning and you get some lovely sunsets as well. We were travelling with our four-year-old son and he loved sleeping in the bedroom window seat and made dens in the other window seats in the day. There were also plenty of games to keep him entertained when the weather wasn't great! We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Perfect Beach Vacation Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better location - right on Chesterman Beach! Just the right amount of trees and shrubbery keeping the house private, but still allowing for a beautiful view of the ocean from the living room/dining room/deck. We enjoyed many walks on the beach and absolutely loved having a bonfire on the beach in the evening... all right out front on the house. The house was well-appointed with everything we needed -- even cozy throw blankets for the cool evenings! -- and very clean. We enjoyed having a kitchen and cooking in, and the kitchen also had everything we needed. The decor was lovely too. We enjoyed each taking a window seat to read in the evenings while watching the sun set. The house is also an easy drive to Tofino and we took advantage of that to explore the town and the many activities the place has to offer. We loved our water taxi ride to Big Tree Trail hike, the Botanical Garden walking trail, and nearby Tacofino (best fish tacos ever!). Marjorie was very helpful and attentive any time we had a question or needed anything. It is a long trip from New York, but we will definitely be back some day!

Wonderful house, amenities, and location!

  • 4 of 5

We are frequent visitors to Tofino and this is our first private rental home. We've tried them all and this was the best and most private experience for the 2 of us and our little dog.

If I could ask for just one simple upgrade..................how about a one page summary of media remote instructions?

It's truly amazing how many rental properties don't take the little extra step of providing instructions. We figured it out eventually, but come on, how about a little help, eh?

Best place we've stayed at

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at various accommodations around Tofino for many years and we are very happy that we found Heron's Perch. The property was as described , it was very quiet, well maintained and clean. The kitchen was one of the best equipped that we have ever come across and we have rented VRBO's all over Europe. The entire focus of the floor plan is towards the ocean which always provided a fantastic view of the beach, ocean, islands, whales, surfers, hummingbirds and hippies. It's only a few paces and you are on Chesterman beach, which is great for sitting with a morning coffee or an evening beach fire. We will return to this property and I would recommend it to friends and family.

Charming cottage, superb location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Heron's Perch April 19 - 26, 2016. We have stayed in homes on Chesterman Beach many times and I think this was my favourite location. The view from the living room and deck is superb and the beach is steps away. It is just a few minutes drive into Tofino. The cottage is well-supplied with linens and is clean and comfortable. My only suggestion is that the kitchen could be better equipped for anyone intending to prepare dinners there, especially for a family.

We have known Marjorie, the manager, for many years and, as always, she was responsive and helpful at every stage of our booking and stay.. We experienced a problem with the fireplace and both Marjorie and Catherine, the owner, responded immediately to get it fixed asap. We will look forward very much to returning to Heron's Perch. Owner's Response: It was such a pleasure to host you both and am happy we were able to resolve the fireplace for you in such a timely manner. Everything in the kitchen is getting upgraded this June and so I look forward to you being pleased with how well it will be stocked and the new appliances:) We look forward to your return. Warmly, Catherine

Everthing was just right!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 3 nights in March 2016. We have 2 kids (7 and 10) and they slept in the window nooks and loved it. Amazing view and great little yard that was sunny when it was not raining. Great location on the beach.

Thanks!

Map

The Cottage is a private house located on a one half acre Right on North Chesterman Beach, which gets the longest sunset light. It is a world famous beach for its uninterrupted hard packed sand, mountains and world class surfing (it was the home of the entire Cold Water Classic Canada in 2010.)

Whether you're looking to catch your first green or you're a hot shot surfer this is a good beach to ride Tofino waves. You'll find all levels of surfers here and like all the Tofino beaches, there's lots of room for everyone. Stretch out in the afternoon sun and stay until sunset. Dogs run free and you can have a fire right on the beach. The stars come all the way down to the ocean.

Walking South towards the lighthouse and around the point you'll find South Chesterman Beach South Chesterman Beach perfect for surfing and often a good place for beginners, although you'll also find the experts there riding the waves. South Chesterman Beach can be a good place for the family to get into the water, there's lots of space for everyone to take that magical first surf ride or catch a wave on a boogie board. Bring a picnic and make a day of it.

Tofino itself is a wonder with its rich flora, fauna. It is where the whales play and you can take a zodiac into the inlet and watch black bears forage for shellfish along the shore. There is a lot of information in the cottage to introduce you to the fabulous adventures you can have and the incredible food that can be enjoyed. My favourite is Wolf in the Fog - which also just got voted best new restaurant in Canada:) You can rent bikes and surf boards while picking up excellent tacos just at the end of the road which is a 5 min walk. Everything in Tofino is close, easy and accessible, but waking up to the ocean view and the sound of the surf feeds the soul in a way that most of us have forgotten.

Hiking Trails

The Pacific Rim National Park offers many hiking trails through old-growth forest. Many of these trails are on boardwalk to protect the forest floor and take you either deep into the forests or down to secluded beaches. There's even one through a mystical bog. Closer to Curious Cove Guest House you may walk down to view the Tofino mudflats which is bursting with migratory birds, shore birds, ospreys, otters, seals and a beautiful view to famous Meares Island in Clayoquot Sound.

Shops and Tours

A short bike ride, a bit longer walk or a quick drive away is the village of Tofino. There you will find a vibrant community centre with whale watching tours, bear watching cruises, kayaking and surf shops, restaurants and cafés, galleries and book shops. The village is a perfect size for strolling through, looking in shop windows and seeing what makes this little town so picture perfect. Could it be the eagles nesting out front, the sunset from first dock, the boats in the harbour or the float homes glowing in the sunshine?

A perfect massage is a great way to end a long day of fishing or surfing at the Tofino Sacred Stone Spa. Be sure to book your treatments in advance as they are based upon availability.

Tofino means to fall in Love

If you come once; you will come again:)
