Heron's Perch - Romantic Cottage on Chesterman Beach!

Sleeps6
Bedrooms 1
Bathrooms1
Space 750 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

Overview

About the property

1 bed, 1 bath. 4-6 adults, 2-4 kids. Roll out of bed, onto to the Beach

Sleep to the sounds of the ocean waves, wake to the smell of old growth forest and the ability to step right onto the stunning Chesterman beach that will give you hours of exploring pleasure, has Canada's best surfing and is rimmed in dramatic Mountains.

The cottage combines all the elements of having the inspiring expanse of shifting light, and horizon, and dramatic sunsets, with being cozy and embracing.

The cottage ideally takes up to 4 people. There is an extra unit downstairs with another bedroom, memory foam pull out sofa and full bath, which can be rented separately, but allows families or couples to travel together, and have a some private space to retreat to. This will be available July 7th. Let us know if you would like to rent it in the request as it doesn't yet have its own listing. It is between $145-215 depending on the season. You may may a supplemental fee to secure that you are the only guests on the property even though the design is such that the upstairs guests (the photos listed for Herons Perch have a West-east axis and will feel completely private - as in be naked in the hot tub:))

There is also, however, a small studio for a local caretaker. Tofino has instated a law requiring vacation renters to provide local housing, which is desperately needed and will protect the texture and fabric of the community.

The bed is super comfortable with down pillows and down comforter. There is a pillow top for those who want a little bit more comfort there is also a fabulous sofa that doubles as a 2nd queen bed. it is firm rather than being a lumpy spring pull out. There is another down comforter under the window seats; which kids absolutely adore sleeping in, as they feel like they are in a tree house.

You can make a fire right on the beach, walk across the sand to the famous Wikininnish Inn to enjoy their world class dinning or indulge yourself at the Ancient cedars Spa.

There are great board games, and comfy reading chairs where you can watch the bald eagles and whales. There are few spots right on the beach as romantic as Herons Perch. We hope to make your stay a treasure of a memory.

Magical cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay here! The cottage is so spacious and very well equipped. Lots of cozy spots to curl up. Amazing views and in a perfect location on beautiful Chesterman beach. We were lucky enough to meet Marjorie who was so incredibly helpful and responsive. We can't wait to come back again!

Such an amazing property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in February and loved it so much that we came back in April and eloped. We planned to be married in the backyard, but due to construction we married on the beach right outside the yard. You are literally steps to the beach. I love this property so dearly, and it will always have a piece of my soul. Catherine and Marjie are a delight to deal with. I hate giving it such a great review because it will always be booked, but you should stay here at least once in your visits to the magical place called Tofino.

Location location location

  • 3 of 5

Bright and beautiful location, we enjoyed our morning coffees and evening dinners with a view of the ocean. The bed was a tad hard for my liking, so I ended up on the sofa, the fridge was very loud, but the noise came and went. Well stocked, we made all our meals in the kitchen. What a bonus we were able to bring our little fur babies, who enjoyed our beach walks and the private back garden . Overall I would recommend this place.

Heron's Perch (aka: Paradise)

  • 5 of 5

Heron's Perch is perfectly located on the beautiful setting know as Chesterman Beach. Splendid views, long walks on the beach and West coast storm watching. The cottage is wonderfully outfitted and we lacked nothing. Our stay was relaxing and provided us with the opportunity to check out some of the local eateries. Highly recommend Heron's Perch.

So nice we are staying there twice

  • 5 of 5

I hesitated on giving this property an amazing review. Not because I didn't love it, but because I know that once someone reads this review it will become more difficult to book this little slice of paradise.

Upon arrival you don't ever want to leave, the sound of the ocean, the coziness of the cottage, and the magic that is Tofino. The cottage is exactly as pictured, the views are amazing, and the proximity to the beach is one of the best parts. Being able to walk out in the morning and enjoy your tea on the beach about 20 steps from the front door makes this the selling point of the cottage for me.

We loved this place so much that we booked it again for two months later. The only wish I have is that it is a two bedroom, so we could bring someone else to enjoy this beautiful getaway.

The cottage is very central to all activities in Tofino and about a 7 minute drive from the downtown shops. We did a one big grocery shop for the week, and loved cooking in the kitchen which is fully stocked with all that you need. If you don't feel like cooking, there are so many delicious places within 3 minutes. We even ordered delivery using scoot n aboot from the Wildside Grill.

I cannot say enough good things about this property, and I am counting down the days until we return.

Breathtaking...

  • 5 of 5

I would definitely stay in this cute house again I love how secluded it was, felt right at home, very accommodating and cozy, the fireplace came quite handy as we were there for storm watching, we loved driving to Tofino and ,Ucluelet, Cox Bay was worth going to because of all the surfers but Chesterman Bay has a beautiful beach to walk up and down on, there were many locals surfing there too! I definitely would come back and stay at Herons Perch.

Map

The Cottage is a private house located on a one half acre Right on North Chesterman Beach, which gets the longest sunset light. It is a world famous beach for its uninterrupted hard packed sand, mountains and world class surfing (it was the home of the entire Cold Water Classic Canada in 2010.)

Whether you're looking to catch your first green or you're a hot shot surfer this is a good beach to ride Tofino waves. You'll find all levels of surfers here and like all the Tofino beaches, there's lots of room for everyone. Stretch out in the afternoon sun and stay until sunset. Dogs run free and you can have a fire right on the beach. The stars come all the way down to the ocean.

Walking South towards the lighthouse and around the point you'll find South Chesterman Beach South Chesterman Beach perfect for surfing and often a good place for beginners, although you'll also find the experts there riding the waves. South Chesterman Beach can be a good place for the family to get into the water, there's lots of space for everyone to take that magical first surf ride or catch a wave on a boogie board. Bring a picnic and make a day of it.

Tofino itself is a wonder with its rich flora, fauna. It is where the whales play and you can take a zodiac into the inlet and watch black bears forage for shellfish along the shore. There is a lot of information in the cottage to introduce you to the fabulous adventures you can have and the incredible food that can be enjoyed. My favourite is Wolf in the Fog - which also just got voted best new restaurant in Canada:) You can rent bikes and surf boards while picking up excellent tacos just at the end of the road which is a 5 min walk. Everything in Tofino is close, easy and accessible, but waking up to the ocean view and the sound of the surf feeds the soul in a way that most of us have forgotten.

Hiking Trails

The Pacific Rim National Park offers many hiking trails through old-growth forest. Many of these trails are on boardwalk to protect the forest floor and take you either deep into the forests or down to secluded beaches. There's even one through a mystical bog. Closer to Curious Cove Guest House you may walk down to view the Tofino mudflats which is bursting with migratory birds, shore birds, ospreys, otters, seals and a beautiful view to famous Meares Island in Clayoquot Sound.

Shops and Tours

A short bike ride, a bit longer walk or a quick drive away is the village of Tofino. There you will find a vibrant community centre with whale watching tours, bear watching cruises, kayaking and surf shops, restaurants and cafés, galleries and book shops. The village is a perfect size for strolling through, looking in shop windows and seeing what makes this little town so picture perfect. Could it be the eagles nesting out front, the sunset from first dock, the boats in the harbour or the float homes glowing in the sunshine?

A perfect massage is a great way to end a long day of fishing or surfing at the Tofino Sacred Stone Spa. Be sure to book your treatments in advance as they are based upon availability.

Tofino means to fall in Love

If you come once; you will come again:)
