This home was recently renovated and refurnished to reflect island living, with bright white vaulted ceilings and soft colors of the sand and surf. Located near the end of a quiet dead-end street, this home is ideally located to get away from it all! The Master bedroom boasts a king sized bed with an ensuite bath and the guest room offers a queen bed with fantastic views of the ocean! There's an open living, kitchen and dining area with numerous windows and doors to take advantage of the fabulous ocean breezes and phenomenal views. Fabulous place to stay to visit Spanish Wells
Always 5 O'clock was a perfect place to stay during our one week visit to Spanish Wells. The home is actually on Russell Island up on a hill overlooking the devil's backbone reef and the Atlantic Ocean. I love to open fresh coconuts, and I only needed to walk down from the back deck and pick some up off the ground, peel off the husks, and break open the tasty fresh coconut.
There were only two of us, and the home could accommodate at least 6. We rented a golf cart and could get across the bridge to Spanish Wells in less than 3 minutes. That's where the really nice white/pink sand beaches are. Of course, if you want to swim in the ocean, you only need to walk down the hill 50 yards or so to what appears to be a boat ramp extended from the road. We walked down there a couple of times to watch the sunset. The home has a screened in porch on the front, and an open porch on the side toward the ocean. There is plenty of seating on the side porch and the view out over the ocean and Pierre rock is magnificent. We were a bit surprised that we encountered almost no mosquitos and bugs. If you walk on the beach at sunset, there are some sand fleas, but not too bad. We cooked almost every night, and the stove worked great. We also grilled steaks one night and lobster (we caught) another night and it worked perfect. The built-in starter even works! The great room/dining room is open and huge. The place was very clean. We didn't even encounter the usual sugar ants in the kitchen. I have been coming to Spanish Wells for more than 30 years and I am in love with the place. Don't forget to go to Ronald's seafood and pick up a bag of stone crab claws for $75. I kid you not, they are as big as your fist!
My only recommendation is that the owners add a large frying pan. we made do with what was there, but we would like to have had a larger pan. Other than that, this was as nice of a home as we had ever stayed at. It was newly remodeled and everything worked! We will definitely try to rent this home the next time we come.
So happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Alway's 5 O'Clock. We look forward to having you as our guests again. We listened your suggestion and now have a larger frying pan ready for your future stay!
Thanks for making Spanish Wells your vacation destination.
Enjoy the beautifully simple and refreshingly quaint islands of Spanish Wells & Russell Island, the lobster fishing capital of the Bahamas. Perfectly accessible, both internationally and domestically, this island gem is conveniently nestled amid shallow turquoise waters off the northern shore of Eleuthera. Exceptional fishing, uncrowded beaches, manicured gardens and friendly locals are a few of the outstanding qualities that draw people from all over the world to this safe and quiet piece of paradise.
