About Steve Ferrante

We met during our sophomore year of college at Baylor University. One month after we graduated we were married! That was 45 years, 2 kids and 7 grandchildren ago. During our time together I was a minster and my wife was a high school teacher; now we are retired.

We also worked in the mission field for some time. We spent 5 months in Spain and 5 years in Kenya helping the people there and learning many valuable life lessons from them as well.

Steve Ferrante purchased this house in 1994

Why Steve Ferrante chose Rocky Mountain National Park

“We were looking for three characteristics when we bought this 1923 vintage cabin twenty years ago…and we found them! A breath-taking view of the big mountains, a moss-rock fireplace, and an expansive covered front porch with panoramic views of Longs Peak = wow!”

Located at the end of a quiet street The Joy Cabin renders privacy only 1.8 miles from downtown Estes Park. When some people come to the mountains, they want to relax… they long to spend peaceful hours being refreshed by the mountain air, observing elk and deer in the front yard along with hummingbirds and bluebirds, and hearing the breeze through the centuries old ponderosa pines on this two-thirds of an acre property. Others may enjoy hiking, biking, or climbing while many love to eat out, take in a movie or stroll down the river-walk shopping, eating caramel corn or a delicious ice cream cone! Estes Park is an ideal vacation spot to do what you enjoy.

The vaulted ceiling in the sun-room/dining room of The Joy Cabin provides a sunny greeting for a first cup of coffee! The remodeled kitchen includes a front-loading washer and dryer, a stainless Kitchenaide dishwasher, and all the amenities of your home away from home. A cable 46” flat screen TV and WiFi along with a landline telephone enable you to connect with the world (if you so choose) or you may just want to lie in the hammock and read a good book; either is possible on this vacation.

Two cozy bedrooms upstairs allow for privacy. The larger bedroom provides one queen bed and a trundle with two twin beds. The other bedroom contains a double bed and a pack ‘n play if necessary. The master suite on the main floor is furnished with a cedar log queen bed, a wood burning stove and its own private three-piece bathroom. A vaulted ceiling and multiple windows simply bring the outdoors inside.

What makes this house unique

Within walking distance of R.M.N.P., private setting, beautiful covered porch with mountain views, large lot, no street light to obstruct the night time views of nature.

Beautiful view from a beatiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Nicely decorated, clean, and many amenities. Very close to Estes Park and the RMNP - excellent location. Front porch view was outstanding! Saw elk just down the hill. Very quiet area and nice beds and baths. Slept well at the Joy Cabin in Estes. We will likely come again!

Beautiful porch and view of Long's Peak and surrounding mountains

  • 4 of 5

Great cabin, built over 100 years ago just on the outskirts of Estes Park. New addition of master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen make this a great place to stay in the area. The big porch overlooking the mountain range is the best!

First week of June the best time in this historic and beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

Snuggled against a foothill of the Rockies with views of snow capped peaks from the front and side of this historic cabin you are transported back in time except for all the modern conveniences. Bright and airy with wildlife in the yard (elk in front when we arrived and buzzing hummingbirds on porch) the entrance to the national park is within sight and yet the town is 2 minutes drive away. Come and enjoy all while there's still snow on the peaks.

Cabin with view of Longs Peak

  • 4 of 5

What a great cabin. We had perfect weather for sitting on the front porch with our morning coffee looking at the mountains. Having a view of Longs Peak was one of the reasons we picked this cabin and it delivered the perfect view. After staying here we loved the cabin as well. It is also close to down town Estes Park. When we need a place to stay again at Estes Park we hope this place will be available.

The property was as described. Clean, well-maintained and comfortable. Really enjoyed setting on the front porch and watching the wildlife wander by. The view is wonderful. Very convenient both to Estes Park and to RMNP. Would definitely return.

Rustic and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful stay here. It was rustic and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen with anything you need for a home cooked meal. Linens and towels were provided. We only had to bring clothes and ourselves! We woke up on several mornings to mule deer and Elk just feet from our windows. Views of Longs Peak from the front porch. I would definitely stay here again!
