About Steve Ferrante
We met during our sophomore year of college at Baylor University. One month after we graduated we were married! That was 45 years, 2 kids and 7 grandchildren ago. During our time together I was a minster and my wife was a high school teacher; now we are retired. We also worked in the mission field for some time. We spent 5 months in Spain and 5 years in Kenya helping the people there and learning many valuable life lessons from them as well.
Steve Ferrante purchased this House in 1994
Why Steve Ferrante chose Estes Park
“We were looking for three characteristics when we bought this 1923 vintage cabin twenty years ago…and we found them! A breath-taking view of the big mountains, a moss-rock fireplace, and an expansive covered front porch with panoramic views of Longs Peak = wow!” Located at the end of a quiet street The Joy Cabin renders privacy only 1.8 miles from downtown Estes Park. When some people come to the mountains, they want to relax… they long to spend peaceful hours being refreshed by the mountain air, observing elk and deer in the front yard along with hummingbirds and bluebirds, and hearing the breeze through the centuries old ponderosa pines on this two-thirds of an acre property. Others may enjoy hiking, biking, or climbing while many love to eat out, take in a movie or stroll down the river-walk shopping, eating caramel corn or a delicious ice cream cone! Estes Park is an ideal vacation spot to do what you enjoy. The vaulted ceiling in the sun-room/dining room of The Joy Cabin provides a sunny greeting for a first cup of coffee! The remodeled kitchen includes a front-loading washer and dryer, a stainless Kitchenaide dishwasher, and all the amenities of your home away from home. A cable 46” flat screen TV and WiFi along with a landline telephone enable you to connect with the world (if you so choose) or you may just want to lie in the hammock and read a good book; either is possible on this vacation. Two cozy bedrooms upstairs allow for privacy. The larger bedroom provides one queen bed and a trundle with two twin beds. The other bedroom contains a double bed and a pack ‘n play if necessary. The master suite on the main floor is furnished with a cedar log queen bed, a wood burning stove and its own private three-piece bathroom. A vaulted ceiling and multiple windows simply bring the outdoors inside.
What makes this House unique

The stay place and location is beautiful. I hope to return thank you ;)
We booked our stay at Joy cabin last weekend to hike in RMNP. We did not know however that it was NP appreciation weekend, so more crowded than normal. Second best part of the lodging was that it was literally at the park entrance which was great to not have to fight the traffic which was crazy to get from the park and in to town at the end of the day. Place was very clean with everything you need to do a little cooking. Our son stayed upstairs and did hear some critters in the roof but that would be expected given the location. The elk everywhere was an added bonus! Hope to get back again.
Vintage and cozy with the perfect amount of modern amenities! And great drums!
Beautiful scenery, wildlife, and comfortable rocking chairs and swing! We so enjoyed our stay and will plan to return. Thank you for sharing paradise with us!
Beautiful view from a beatiful cabin!
Nicely decorated, clean, and many amenities. Very close to Estes Park and the RMNP - excellent location. Front porch view was outstanding! Saw elk just down the hill. Very quiet area and nice beds and baths. Slept well at the Joy Cabin in Estes. We will likely come again!
Beautiful porch and view of Long's Peak and surrounding mountains
Great cabin, built over 100 years ago just on the outskirts of Estes Park. New addition of master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen make this a great place to stay in the area. The big porch overlooking the mountain range is the best!
Thanks for staying at the Joy Cabin. We too love the views, location and quiet setting. We work hard to make sure our guests have a wonderful stay. Please let us know how to make your stay a better experience.
First week of June the best time in this historic and beautiful place
Snuggled against a foothill of the Rockies with views of snow capped peaks from the front and side of this historic cabin you are transported back in time except for all the modern conveniences. Bright and airy with wildlife in the yard (elk in front when we arrived and buzzing hummingbirds on porch) the entrance to the national park is within sight and yet the town is 2 minutes drive away. Come and enjoy all while there's still snow on the peaks.
