If you are looking for a quiet retreat this property is it. The home and property are very well kept, right on the water. Saw blue herons and osprey. We were able to use the kayaks, great place to kayak. For only 2 bedrooms the home was spacious, clean and could easily accommodate 8-10. The owner came over to check on us to make sure we were comfortable. He went out of his way to have all the necessities we needed for our stay. Tons of towels, washcloths and linens. A wonderful bottle of wine was set for our arrival. He had a box of coffee for the keurig and tea. Hand soaps and bars of soap were in each bath. All theses touches were so nice. Can't thank the owner enough for sharing this gem.

Quiet Getaway with room for outdoor activities

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I pick a destination for our fantasy draft every year. We couldn't have picked a better place! Ray and his son were very welcoming! Although the weather was no up to par, we had plenty of activities to do and enjoyed every minute at the Creekside Hideaway getaway. Definitely would come back!

Nice place - but could be cleaner

  • 3 of 5

This place has potential, and the owners are very nice. They helped us a few times during our stay. They live next door, which was not shared on the website. Some renters may have a problem with that.

The dishes, glasses and pans were not that clean, and the cupboards had some really old items in them. They do provide soap, paper products, etc. - which was a nice touch. It just needed to be cleaner, in our opinion.

Owner's Response: WHOA! We didn't see this review coming We personally greet all our customers and personally thank them at their departure. During our renters stay we do make helpful suggestions i.e: restaurant info, area highlights and an occasional boat tour of our waters. We also provide timely trash pickup. We live on the far side of a 6 acre lot. The advantage is we are always available while maintaining our renters privacy. Our kitchen has recently been renovated. We guarantee that our kitchen utensils and appliances are cleaned before arrival. We take great pride in the cleanliness of The Creekside Hideaway inside and out as shown by 43 - 5 star reviews. Our goal at The Creekside Hideaway is to provide a warm and comfortable experience for our guests. That is a guarantee that will never cease to exist. Ray, Mary, and Jason

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We were too late to book last year (every week was taken) so when we found one open week for rental this year we took it. Pulling up to this beautiful property we understood why it books so fast. It is so spacious and the views of the water is breathtaking. We were greeted by the owners who are extremely nice and accommodating. The pictures on line do not do it justice. It is much bigger then shown and was very clean (a big factor for me). There is a boat slip which was perfect for us, and a dock which I enjoyed most when watching the owner train one of his 3 dogs how to jump and retrieve for competition. Don't worry, though they also live on the 7 acres with I believe 700 feet of water frontage (unbelievable!), they do not overstep and are very respectful of you privacy. The dogs (black labs) were sweet and got along great with our 2 beagles when they interacted. But again, they only ventured over to our side of the property when we gave the ok.

As far as boating is concerned, we were able to put in at Buzz's Marina which is in site of the property on St. Jerome's Creek. We had direct deep water access for our center console to the Chesapeake Bay proper just minutes away. Both fishing and site seeing opportunities were plentiful.

The house was stocked with all the basic essential that you would have if you stayed in a hotel (no room service obviously), but if you need anything they are more then happy to accommodate you. I really can't say enough about how wonderful both this property is and the owners are. We will definitely be back without a doubt. The one thing I do have to mention is there is not much in the restaurant department in the town, and there is nowhere for breakfast. We recommend venturing out to Solomon's Island (but not at 5 during the week, crazy traffic due to the navel base) and Leanordstown (which is 30 minutes away). They both have plenty to choose from and are cool little towns.

Come and enjoy a restful stay on the St. Jerome's Creek. Just a mile from the Chesapeake Bay inlet, the area is great for fishing and wildlife enthusiasts. The house consists of two bedrooms, one and a half baths and has a large open space living area. Sleeps 6-8. This home has everything you need for a relaxing stay. A full kitchen, bath and laundry room will meet all of your needs. The home has cable TV, wifi, and a step down great room with TV and futons for extra sleeping accommodations. The great room also has a sink and a mini refrigerator (a wet bar).

There are local restaurants, parks, and marinas. St. Mary's City and St. Mary's College of Maryland are just 7 miles north. Leonardtown and Solomon's Island are just thirty minutes away and provide food, museums, and beautiful, historic scenery. St. Mary's College hosts the River Concert series every Friday throughout the summer complete with fireworks. There are wineries to tour with weekly wine tastings - there is something here for everyone!

On site there is a pier for crabbing and fishing trips can be arranged. Canoeing and kayaking are adventures on this beautiful quiet creek. One canoe and one kayak are available on site.

This is a vacation you won't soon forget!
