I am a single mum, with two great girls aged 10 & 118. I run an ecommerce selling produce from over 100 local suppliers.
Polly Watt purchased this cottage in 1995
I came to France when I was 24 and saw this house near the village of Moyon and fell in love with it. We moved here in the September of 1995, and gradually began converting one of the barns. Now 17 years later, we are still working on improvements on the property, all though finally most of that is actually happening on the main house.
I fell in love with this area on my first visit to Bayeux and that was the basis of our search for a new home. We are very well located for visiting the local sites. We are equi-distant to most of them, such as Bayeux, Granville, Cherbourg, Mont St Michel. There is also a very lively music scene locally, which never fails to surprise people.
We stayed at the Gite Lily for 2 nights in end May 2016 (My wife, her parents, and myself). There were 2 bedrooms on the upper floor, and a living room, kitchen and toilet on the ground floor. The house was lovely and very cosy. Only downside was that the only toilet was on the ground floor, making it difficult for the old folks at night.
We were delighted with the beautiful horses and cows that were right in front of our house. I'm not sure if they belonged to the owner, or to their neighbours. It would be nice if we could have some interaction with the animals.
The owners were readily contactable as they lived in an adjacent house. They were very friendly and accommodating. We accidentally ruined a couple of things in the house, but they were kind enough not to charge us a penalty.
We would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone who wishes to experience living like a local in a little town of Normandy.
We found this cozy little gite to be just what we needed after several days in busy Paris. Gite Lily was clean and well equipped and Polly and her daughters were delightful. We really enjoyed cooking dinner and eating in the garden every night with a nice bottle of french wine. Our kids ages 11 and 14 also loved it. They enjoyed visits from Polly's dogs and the tabby cat and fed the horses. None of us were quite ready to leave. Polly, being from the UK speaks English, which was nice for us. And there was English language movies and tv. The location was fantastic... right in between Mont. St. Michele and the Normandy beaches (both only about 40 minute drive), and surrounded by quaint little villages. If you want to feel like you are away from it all living like a local in the french countryside, I highly recommend this property.
We had a lovely stay in Polly’s Gite Lily. It was quiet and relaxing, small but okay for us, 2 adults and 12 year and 9 year old kids. Polly was an excellent host and the area is perfect to explore the region and sites such as Mont St Michel, Bayeux and Utah beach.
We had a great last minute family holiday at Gite Lily. The Gite was clean and very well stocked. We loved the fact that we didnt have to bring bedding towels etc and arrived very lightly. Only one bag! We had our two girls, 14 and 10 and found plenty to do. Bayeaux was worth a visit, I didnt realise the tapestry was so long.
We tracked down all the local markets and visited the beaches everyday. Granville was their favourite as it had a outdoor pool that appeared as the tide went out. Le Mont St Michel was amazing and really worth the trek. We would recommend the Gite, Polly and the girls were great and so were the dogs, cats and horses too!. Thanks a bunch. Mel
A very nice rental, in a quiet place, where you can rest during your holiday. The reception is sympathic, and the place is quite near from Normand touristic places as Saint Lô, Saint Malo (80 km) or Le Mont Saint-Michel (70km). I recommend it to you for your holiday!
Wow! We have no idea where to start? The gite was in a marvelous and quaint town of Moyon, just south of Saint Lo. We had visited the area to have easy access to D-Day memorial sites as well as beaches, and this was the perfect spot to do so. Not only did we do what we set out, but we found the area to be such an unbelievable and friendly place. The gite itself was fantastic, with all of the amenities one could possibly need. It had a wonderful living room (big enough for a large family, so more than enough for us) with a flat screen TV, full-sized kitchen where we cooked most of our meals, and spacious bedrooms, all of which were very clean and tidy. The gite also had a small deck perfect for early evening cordials and beautiful horses running in the adjoining pasture. The property owner was extremely helpful with suggestions on local events, as well as anything that we needed on site (without being overbearing, which was great). Overall, we highly recommend staying here, and I am sure we will be back!
Moyon is centrally located in La Manche, and ideally placed for visiting all the local attractions. To the west are beautiful sandy beaches and the historic town of Granville, birthplace of Dior, and Mont St Michel. To the south are areas of exceptional beauty as you drive to Villedieu les Poeles or Vire; to the East is Caen, and to the North are the D-Day landing beaches and Bayeux. In Moyon there is a horse riding centre and there are sporting activities all around us - parachuting, golf, microlight aircraft, bungy jumping, swimming pool complex, beautiful walks and bike rides.
