The villa has been painted throughout in a beautiful soothing tone evocative of the ocean spray. Bathroom updates include new lighting, new fixtures and vanities with hard surface tops. Both the living room and guest bedroom have been outfitted with all new furnishings. You can relax on your wrap around balcony and take in the stunning unobstructed views of the Calibogue Sound and Daufuskie Island. You will not want to leave! We wrote the review one year ago about this unit needing TLC! So many of the things we noted have been repaired, replaced, refreshed. A wonderful makeover. So comfortable. Hope they will continue with remaining improvements.
We have travelled all over the world and find the sunsets from this condo to be among the most spectacular we've seen. We love seeing the deer and the dolphins. There is true serenity here. This is our second year in this unit. It was visibly more worn this year than last. As other reviewers have noted, it needs work. The kitchen really needs to be remodeled. There is a new stove and dishwasher, but the dishwasher is too wide for the space, so the door doesn't seal properly and the dishes never dry. The refrigerator has rust on the outside and the microwave has rust on the inside. Not very appetizing for meal prep. The pots and pans are old. The knives are dull. The cupboards are old and tired. The sink is dented. The living room furniture is worn. The tv is tiny. The blinds all need thorough cleaning. The walls need thorough cleaning and fresh paint. The neutral colors are very soothing. There is space/seating for 5 to eat, not 8. The master bedroom furniture is good, but the linens need to be updated. The master bath gets mixed review. The sinks and counters are good. The tub/shower is dated. The toilet could be replaced. And the toilet paper holder is seriously misplaced! The guest bedroom dresser needs to be replaced. The closet door is broken. The pillow shams need to be replaced. The guest bathroom needs remodeling. There is a plumbing issue with the toilet. The washer is relatively new, though it was full of sand. The dryer is rusty. The decks and outside windows were really dirty when we arrived. (Not from pollen). The deck furniture is mismatched, unattractive and unworkable. We have tried to convince ourselves the condo is shabby chic, but it's just shabby. We love Beachside Tennis and this has been the only condo available the weeks we want to rent. However, we are looking elsewhere for someplace we would be more comfortable entertaining and relaxing. A modest investment in upgrades could increase the income potential! We'd love to come back to a refreshed condo next year!
This was our 3rd stay in 1832 Beachside Tennis. Incredible views of the water, dunes and nature (deer on the dunes!) because this is a corner unit. I would recommend this unit for those who enjoy the views and nature. If you are looking for a beautiful, updated unit, this is not the most updated in furnishings. Comfortable, but not updated. Our biggest concerns were the kitchen and balcony. It's way past time for an upgrade on the kitchen! The dishwasher is literally dangerous - the door is heavy and it falls open all the time. Countertops, appliances, everything in the kitchen - including floors and trim - need to be replaced. Finally the balcony - given the incredible views, it's disappointing that a unit that sleeps 8 has only 3 nice patio chairs + 2 very cheap plastic chairs. It wasn't even comfortable for the 5 of us, much less 8. It's a tough call - we love the views, but given that we've paid nearly $2,200 for the week, we'd like to see a few improvements on the unit itself. Priceless views but average unit. We will be looking at other units within Beachside Tennis. The building and location - proximity to South Beach and the views of ocean and sound - are outstanding. But would prefer a nicer unit.
